How is BIT Mesra Jaipur campus for CSE? How good are the placements?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 17th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

You will be placed from the BIT Mesra (main) campus after your final semester. As most of the placements happen at Mesra campus, you will get the opportunity to showcase your skills in front of big-shot brands like Amazon, Flipkart, Directi, etc. For the 2023 placements from the Jaipur campus, as per now, the highest package for B.Tech stands at INR 51 LPA and the median package stands at INR 8.2 LPA. A total of 53% B.Tech students from the Jaipur campus have been placed.

Moreover, your degree will have the BIT Mesra tag, your campus name (Jaipur Campus) will not be mentioned in your degree ( this is regardless of whichever campus you belong to). As BIT Mesra is a brand in itself, you will easily grab a good job after your degree. However, you should consult the alumni from the Jaipur campus to know about the teaching faculty for CSE over there. This is because faculty matters as much.

BIT Jaipur campus is a good place to pursue your B.Tech CSE in terms of placements. You should talk to the seniors and alumni of the college to find out about the faculty and overall environment over there.

How good is the MBA program of BIT Mesra?

SK
Satish Kumar Posted On : February 16th, 2021
MBA from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

A friend of mine provided me with a clear picture of how the MBA program is at BIT Mesra. The management department at BIT Mesra was established back in 1979 and has resourceful faculty.

  • BIT Mesra has an excellent infrastructure facility as the whole campus is spread around 980 acres.
  • The campus has a good hostel, well-established library, mess, good medical facilities all with a reasonable fee.
  • The college organizes internship opportunities and guest lectures for the students to get updated with the recent trends associated with the industry. Students were offered internship opportunities in ONGC, ITC, ICICI bank, Wildcraft, NIIT, Tata Steel, etc.
  • The college also has a good campus placement record for the 2020 batch and has an average package of around 4.5 LPA. You will be at an advantage anyway regarding the return on investment as the fee structure is very affordable and packages provide greater value.
  • If you are pursuing MBA, you will be called for GD/PI on the basis of percentile scored in CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT. Admission on the basis of performance of candidates in GD and PI.

Listed below are some information about the course:

Highest Package

10.20 LPA

Average Package

4.5 LPA

Total Fees

5.54 lakhs INR

Duration

2 Years

This year a lot of great companies visited BIT Mesra for the recruitment process. Some prominent companies are ICICI bank, Bandhan bank, Bajaj, Godrej, Airtel, Biju’s, etc.

It is better than any private college with a similar placement record. In short BIT Mesra is a good place where you can better equip yourself with the facilities available and grab the best out of it for a better future.

Which is better, BITS-Goa vs BIT Mesra?

AG
Asmita Ghosh Posted On : April 15th, 2021
Studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Graduated 2019

A senior of mine from school is an alumnus of BITS Goa and he has all the respect for the institution. He has told me that BIT Mesra is a good place for someone who would like to pursue CSE, ECE. The placement is also pretty good there from what he has heard.

Coming to BITS Goa, it is a tier 1 Indian engineering institution. Most of the students from Indian engineering colleges practice computer programming for becoming computer engineers. There are packages of 5-50 LPA, depending on the skills of the applicants. These companies do not look for academic credentials. They are only interested in the GitHub and TopCoder profiles of the job applicants.

A lot of the BIT alumni end up being managers in industries, based on hard work and luck. The package would be around 5-15 LPA. Unlike in the previous case, these companies are heavily dependent on the academic credentials of the job applicants.

BIT Mesra is a 3 tier engineering institute. Most of the students who have completed their education from this institute end up working in working as employees in the IT companies that are service-based with packages of 3-4 LPA.

Which is better: CS in BIT Mesra or CS in MANIT Bhopal?

Himanshu Garg Posted On : April 20th, 2021
B.E Computer Science, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2019)

If you compare them in terms of placement, infrastructure, ambiance, and alumni network BIT Mesra has an upper hand over MANIT Bhopal.

Being a 60 years old institute, BIT has an alumni network spread globally at Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon. One of the alumni even won Oscars recently for the best-animated movie.

BIT has great records in ICPC contests. The campus is amazing. Seniors are very helpful. The campus is ragging-free and poses an amazing infrastructure. IET, IEEE, ACM conducts various free workshops to enhance the skills of students.

MANIT Bhopal has an edge over BIT Mesra in terms of tuition fees. NITs are even regarded highly in terms of their brand name. This is the reason why BIT has a higher cutoff compared to NITs.

How do I get a decent CGPA in the bit mesra exam system?

Satyam Purwar Posted On : February 24th, 2024

Scoring a good CGPA at BIT Mesra exams is difficult because of the absolute grading system and strict corrections. To maintain a decent CGPA, you must give equal importance to your lab and theory exams.

Here are some tips for you-

To score high in lab-

  1. Make yourself visible to the teacher by regularly attending the lab and performing well in at least some of the practicals.
  2. Perform well in your viva and lab practicals. The objective tests hardly carry any value, or the teachers are too lazy to evaluate them and generate your final credit.
  3. Try to answer creatively and confidently during viva, even if you don’t know an answer in complete detail.

To score high in theory-

  1. Make a clear study plan, and don’t study each and every thing. Study the modules that will allow you to answer 5 questions in the exam.
  2. Don’t mug up, study topic wise, and analyze previous year question papers.
  3. First answer the questions that you know very well. This will build your credibility.
  4. Don’t leave any question. Try to answer all 5 of them. Sometimes manipulated answers fetch good marks.
  5. Try to get a little creative with subjective questions. Draw relevant diagrams and write equations. Graphs, diagrams and equations always enhance the answer.
  6. Write in a neat, well structured and point-wise manner. Don’t be lazy in putting down additional details relevant to the question.

Be regular to your classes and submit your projects on time. NCC and NSS will fetch you an extra credit per semester. Try to participate in them, and attend their sessions regularly. PT and sports are even better, they’ll have a positive impact on your credits.

Follow these tips and you’ll score a decent CGPA in your B.Tech, at BIT Mesra.

How do I get a decent CGPA in bit mesra exam system?

To score well at BIT Mesra, pay equal attention to your lab and your course subjects. Here are some strategies to help you score well in your exams-

For good lab scores-

  • PT/NCC/NSS/CA- Your performance in sports and athletics will fetch you extra credits. For NCC and NSS, merely attending their events will fetch you an extra credit per semester.
  • Make yourself visible to the lab teacher- Perform well in the lab and create a good impression in front of the lab teacher. This will help improve your lab scores.
  • Lab scores have two divisions - All labs at BIT Mesra are quite similar, except for the microprocessor lab and a few others. Their scores are divided into two broad groups- lab practical and viva. Other exams like objective tests, etc. hardly contribute to your final lab credits.

For Course Subjects- You will have 6-course subjects per semester at BIT Mesra with 7 modules for each. Study with proper planning and do some smart work-

  • Don’t mug up. Select and study those modules through which you can answer all 5 questions in the exam. Don’t study everything. Go through the previous year's question papers, find a pattern, and prepare accordingly.
  • To build credibility, first answer those questions that you know well. Write the manipulated answers afterward. Never leave a question, unless you are totally clueless about that topic. Manipulative answers can fetch you good marks sometimes. For subjective answers, adding related graphs, equations, and diagrams helps to get good grades. Write in pointers and mention some additional details in a structured manner. Write neatly.

Maintain good attendance and submit your projects on time: This will add extra credits and help you score better.

If you follow these tips and work wisely, you will score a good CGPA at BIT Mesra.

What are the best things for BIT Mesra students to do on weekends?

DG
Deepmoy Ganguly Posted On : August 16th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

Depending upon your personality type, there are different things for you to do on weekends at BIT Mesra. Some of these are-

  1. If you are the studious type, you can spend your weekends in the library reading books.
  2. Couples like to spend their weekends in the Mehak canteen, also known by the name of ‘Apni Rasoi’. You can also take the BIT bus and visit some new places in Ranchi.
  3. If you like to have fun and explore during your weekends, you can see the quiet and scenic river sides. BIT Mesra is surrounded by rivers on three sides. But, I would suggest you to not get caught by the college guards while roaming around these spots.
  4. You can visit the Sharma canteen adjacent to the G.P. Birla auditorium. There you will meet new people with whom you can chat. Also, their samosas and shikanji are a must try.
  5. Evenings of BIT Mesra are best spent at IC. There you can find a vibrant, diverse crowd of people, all spending time with those that are relatable or close to them. Visiting IC to hangout with your friends is worthwhile.
  6. The Sports Complex is meant for fitness and gym freaks. Also, it’s a good place to spend your free time exercising.
  7. You can rent a bike from rental services and explore spots such as Ramgarh and Patratu.
  8. There aren't many places in or around BIT Mesra for foodies. You can visit the lounges and confectioneries in Ranchi.

These are some of the things you can do on your weekend while at BIT Mesra.
