How good is IMI Delhi 'executive PGDM' compared to other 1 year exe-MBA courses in India?

HS
Harry Sandhu Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
MBA from International Management Institute (2021)

IMI Delhi Executive PGDM is a very good choice if you are on the lookout for improving your learning caliber and climbing the corporate ladder higher. It is most suitable for working professionals who join on a sabbatical and don’t leave their jobs to pursue this program.

The faculty is highly experienced and will guide you throughout the program. The placement for their flagship course is better than the executive course. They falsely claim to offer lateral placement support. If you are joining the program be prepared for no general increase in salary or placements. Join the program only if your primary purpose is to learn. Less than half of the students get placed in this program too with below-average packages. If you are ready to face it with a positive mindset, then only opt for this program.

How is the placement scenario in great lakes Chennai for PGPM course? Does the whole batch with 400 people gets placed?

DD
Diya Dhyawala Posted On : July 11th, 2023
PGPM from Great Lakes Institute of Management (India) (Graduated 2018)

One can easily get an idea about the placement scenario of any School from the official website. But, these figures are sometimes inflated so you cannot rely on them. The best way is to contact someone who is in the current batch, a recent pass-out, or an alumni. Only they can give you the real picture of the institute.

Great Lakes Chennai PGDM placements are decent and around 90–95% of the batch gets placed. If you are still adamant about looking up the statistics, Great Lakes Chennai placements for the PGDM program have been tabulated below

IIM Bangalore's Executive Education Programs are highly valued in the job market. The main purpose of these programs is to help professionals upgrade their skills and knowledge in their respective fields. Professionals pursuing their courses are considered committed to their professions. These programs have great value in the areas of management and leadership, and help professionals advance their careers and increase their earning potential. Moreover, the reputation of IIM Bangalore as a leading institution in the field of management education also adds to the perceived value of its Executive Education Programs.

Here is how an IIMB Executive Education program helps you provide the best job opportunities

  • Prestige: Executive Education programs are highly competitive and thus speak of your credibility and worth through your resume.
  • Networking: An Executive program enables you to interact with accomplished professionals in your industry, both as classmates and course instructors or speakers.
  • New skills: The Executive Development Program imports the skills necessary for better roles and responsibilities.

Lastly, I would like to comment that these Executive programs have certain eligibility criteria based on your managerial level, years of experience, and specific functional knowledge and it’s not justified to call them unscreened programs.

Which one should I opt for: PGDCM from IIM Calcutta or PGPM from IIM Lucknow?

SZ
Saba Zafar Posted On : November 29th, 2022

If we compare PGDCM and PGDM at IIM Calcutta, we see that both the courses have the same networking, placements and even infrastructure.

Now if you compare both the IIMs, IIMC and IIML, there is hardly any difference in the curriculum or even placements. So deciding which IIM to go for depends on your own preferences.

But if you are planning to quit IT then I suggest going for the full-fledged MBA course from IIM Lucknow rather than a system at IIM Calcutta.

IIM Lucknow will offer excellent exposure and placements and you will end up getting an above average salary package for consulting.

The EPBA or Executive Program on Business Analytics is a one year part time course with a fees of around INR 5.10 Lakh. The benefits you will derive from this course are

  • You will get an excellent exposure to data science

  • You will become well versed in all aspects of business, marketing, finance, supply chain, operations

  • it opens various doors of the many new opportunities for your business company

Keep in mind that this is not a specialisation course. Rather it exposes you to a broad spectrum of data sciences and will teach you how the analytics should be used to power your business decisions. This course adds a great value to managers and business leaders.

But if you are looking for a beginners course in tool expertise in Data Science, then this course is not for you.

With an experince of 7 years in IT as a Developer and 25 LPA CTC, is it worth to persue executive MBA from indian B-school with respect to ROI and duration? which B-school in india should i target?

AJ

One-year MBA (Executive) programs in India such as at IIMs or ISB have a number of graduates each year who move functions or industries each year. For instance, the ISB 2020 batch witnessed 65% of students shifting both industry and function. Many students enter with similar salary brackets and come out with a 50–100% hike.

Executive MBAs are quite competitive and enjoy international recognition and ranking. Their increasing demand stems from the fact that they offer better ROI and are a quick way to the corporate world. In India, a one-year MBA program is most suitable for those with a work experience of more than 5 years who handled the management profile.

Another major point to consider is that your decision of going for an MBA for an industry or role change shouldn’t depend upon the current salary but on the experience you have. This is because during the placement drives of top B-schools like IIMs, the number of jobs requiring 8+ years is comparatively lower than other experience ranges. So there are more opportunities to grow in the same domain or shift industries but continue within the same domain. But if you have experience of around 5 years, then it would be easier to change roles/domains since the firms would expect a fast learning attitude from you.

Here are a few B-Schools you might consider for Executive MBA in India

Institute

Fees

Salary

IIM Ahmedabad

INR 731.50 Lakh

INR 36.26 Lakh

IIM Calcutta

INR 31.00 Lakh

INR 30.41 Lakh

FMS Delhi

INR 2.00 Lakh

INR 30 LPA

IIM Indore

INR 22.12 Lakh

INR 23.60 Lakh

IM Kozhikode

INR 3.5 Lakh

-

On a final note, I would like to comment that “Investment in Education always ends up giving the best returns in the long run.”

Is it worth doing PGPMWE (Executive MBA) from IIM Raipur? How is it going to benefit someone who has 8-10 years of experience in a government bank?

YJ
Yogesh Jindal Posted On : January 20th, 2023
PGP from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2019)

I am unaware of your background and aspirations so I will try to answer your question generally.

The Executive MBA program is designed in e-learning mode to facilitate Working Executives. It is indeed a good option who want to avail earn and learn at the same time. Some highlights of the program are

  • The IIM brand name
  • You can continue your job alongside your MBA program which ensures a good ROI
  • The learning imparted through this program helps you climb the ladder in your own organization or look for a better job outside it.
  • Since you already have 10 years of experience, a full-time MBA program will be risky and offer very little placement opportunities.

So to end the discussion, I deem you to go for an Executive MBA and strive for excellence.

Which college should I choose having 38 months of work experience in a non-IT field, Great Lakes PGPM or NMIMS Mumbai campus?

AB
Advaith Bhaskar Posted On : June 6th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2000–present)

You can choose Great Lakes if you would like to switch industries and finish your MBA in one year. If you don't want to change industries and have two years to spare for an MBA, NMIMS is the better option.

The cost is nearly the same, however attending NMIMS takes a year more, so you have to consider the opportunity cost as well.

Regarding exposure and industry interaction, NMIMS is better. You should make a decision keeping in mind all these points and your personal considerations.
