Technical Student Life:
- It is undoubtedly one of the best among the new 20 IIITs. It also gives tough competition to NITs and IITs.
- In ACM ICPC, the institute was ranked 9th. It also qualified for the Asia Finals.
- The technical club Axios had 3 GSoC selections in their first session. In the 2nd year, it had 2 GSoCers and GSoC mentors.
- The six technical clubs of IIIT Lucknow are also doing great work. This institute is among the few colleges in India to have a Github Campus Expert, Google DSC, and Microsoft Student Partner.
Cultural Life:
- In terms of student life at the institute, IIIT Lucknow has 7 cultural clubs in the fields of Drama, Dance, Music, Literature, Photography, Fine Arts, and NGO.

The only problem IIIT Lucknow had till now was its lack of a permanent campus which has been sorted now as well. So in terms of infrastructure too, it is at par with IIIT Vadodara now. If you are considering IIIT Kolkata, IIIT Sri City and IIIT Trichy are all colleges that have done very well and are also developing quite well. Compared to these, IIIT Guwahati and Lucknow are not quite up to the mark yet.
As for IIIT Sri City, I have a friend studying there and according to him, this college is one of the first among the others to have its own campus.
- It was completed about a year or two ago so if you are looking for admission, definitely go to IIIT Sri City.
- The very first batch from this college had an average package offer of INR 7.5 LPA and is quite good as compared to mid-level NITs.
- The mentorships provided by IIITH also helps a lot and the curriculum here is amazing.
- If you are looking for research, almost every student ends up publishing a research paper in B.Tech. Students are even better to go on to publish around 6 to 7 international papers as well.

Which IIIT has a top class faculty, IIIT Guwahati or IIIT Lucknow?
When you compare both these colleges for their faculty, in my view, they both have top notch faculty.
- All the professors and teachers at both these colleges have completed their education with PhDs from very well reputed IITs and NITs. So there isn’t much scope to question their quality.
- A few friends of mine have studied at IIIT Lucknow and as per their experiences, the faculty at the college is very helpful and kind to the students.
- In my opinion, the same should be the case with IIIT Guwahati as it is known to be a premier institute with national importance and it is also being mentored by IIT Guwahati.
For example, IIIT Bhagalpur is also mentored by IIT Guwahati so most students are aware that the faculty and academic environment is good here. As the case with IIIT Lucknow is also similar – where it is being mentored by IIIT Allahabad which is known for its coding culture and is one of the top IIITs across the country, you will not have a reason to doubt the institute.
So, both colleges are equally good as they are being mentored by some of the best institutes in the country and have good faculty.
What should be the preference for CS, IIIT Lucknow or IIIT Jabalpur?
You should apply for IIIT Jabalpur without any second thoughts because IIIT Lucknow still needs some time to prove itself. It has no infrastructure and facilities that can be considered at par with IIIT Jabalpur or other such IIITs for that matter. Even the cutoffs of both the colleges clearly depict the scenario that they currently have in regards to student preference.

You will find students bragging about last year’s placements at IIIT Lucknow but still, you simply cannot trust an institute that was founded 6 years back and has no proper infrastructure and alumni status. It can definitely become a good institute if it follows its current path but that will require some time.
On the other hand, IIIT Jabalpur has had great records of CSE placements and comparatively lot better infrastructure than IIIT Lucknow (260 acres). Also, the campus size of IIIT Jabalpur tells a lot about the vision that the institute has to grow and expand.

How is life at IIIT Lucknow? How will it be after shifting to its new campus?
Few of my close friends attend IIIT Lucknow and according to them, the new and permanent campus is still not that well developed. If you are looking for good college life at IIIT Lucknow, you will be disappointed. There is no canteen and fests.
Yes, there is an academic building and hostels but you will not get the exposure you are looking for. The faculty is not that great either. The placements are also not that impressive and most faculty are IIIT Allahabad graduates.
It will be better if you join any other old NIT or other colleges which is much better than IIIT Lucknow.

Yes, the IIITs in Lucknow and Kota are worth the money they demand. For the time being, new IIITs like IIIT Lucknow and IIIT Kota can provide quality education as well as a promising future, but they lack in terms of decent campus facilities.
