Should I change my branch from civil to EEE at PES University because of the poor placements for civil?

CB
Chirag Bhardwaj Posted On : October 17th, 2020
Studied Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering at PES University (2019)

PES University was ranked as the 6th best private university out of 50 universities in India by outlook in 2019. It is also ranked 93 for private engineering by NIRF 2020. The college is recognized by UGC, AICTE, and AACSB. It is one of the top private universities in Bangalore. The high rankings of the college don’t show the poor placements which the college has offered in the past year.

Placements:

  • As compared to the previous years, the placements offered at PES University in core companies are fewer in number for the academic year 2019.

  • Companies visit the college, but many of the students opting for higher students opt-out for the placements. Making the placement percentage high because of the fewer students present at the placement.

  • There were a number of companies that recruited students. But in recent years the placement of the college in the Civil Engineering course has not been up the mark as promised by the college.

However, if you have a keen interest in Civil engineering, then you should not change their branch. Placements are not the only thing that needs to be focused on. Changing the branch will also not make any much difference as both the courses EEE and Civil Engineering provide more or less the same average package that is Rs 3-4 LPA. However, keep in mind that in recent times, there are also other colleges that are not able to fulfill the promised core placements for Civil.

Although Civil Engineering has poor core placements, there are many non-core companies which allow the students of Civil to sit for the placement. The average CTC offered by the non-core IT companies visiting the campus for the placement drive is 10 LPA.

Therefore, a student should keep in mind all the factors when changing a branch and not solely look at placements.

Which is better for a BBA, AIMS or PES University in Bangalore?

AP
Amit Pandey Posted On : June 19th, 2021
BBA at PES University, 2020

PES University in Bangalore is considered better than AIMS. One of my friends, being a graduate of AIMS itself, widely states that the institute somewhat lacks the basic amenities.

  • AIMS Bangalore, unfortunately, misguides different people by projecting themselves as a premier college. The faculty in the institute is also not the best you could get.
  • AIMS used to be a good institute for pursuing BBA, however, it has only lost its credibility very recently.
  • The college lacks the same facilities and infrastructure which PES greatly has.
  • In fact, PES Bangalore has a top-notch and well-qualified faculty with significant corporate exposure.
  • PES University provides foreign exposure and extracurricular activities, as opposed to AIMS.

Knowing students from both the institutes and on the basis of their experience, the placement stats of either institute, course fee structures, it can be determined that PES University is ahead of AIMS.

Which is better for a CSE, PES University or NIT Patna?

SS
Shubham Kumar Singh Posted On : June 9th, 2021
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2019)

Though both PES University and NIT Patna don’t have a sufficient reputation in the industry, NIT Patna can be a better choice because of the NIT tag. Having friends study in both the institutes, here are some things they mentioned -

  • Choosing any institute, which is near to the home city, is better than choosing any of the two institutes mentioned.
  • Both of the institutes are of below standard quality and have no reputation in the private industrial sector. This matters a lot in placement.
  • NIT Patna offers some amount of placement, at least better than PES University. The only reason behind the cause is the NIT tag.
  • PES University is not at all worth considering for an engineering degree in CSE.
  • It even does not fulfill the criteria stated by them and is considered fraud in some reviews.

So, these two institutes are not worth considering. There are several options for engineering aspirants in India like IITs, BITS, IIITs, and various other private institutes.

According to the recent cut-off trends for PES University, the cut-off for computer science was 1094. So you can easily get admission in all the other branches, i.e. electronics and communication, electrical and electronics engineering, biotechnology engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering.

Many factors determine the cut-off like the number of students who applied, appeared, and qualified for the exam; seat availability; difficulty level of the exam; and reservation policy.

Which college is the best in terms of college atmosphere, faculty, higher studies, internships and placements: RVCE, PES University or MIT Manipal?

MS
Mayank Sharma Posted On : March 16th, 2022
B.Tech Computer Science, PES University (2020)

Considering all factors like atmosphere, higher studies, faculty base, placements, internship, etc. PES University is better.

It offers an ideal environment for studies. The much-rumored strictness on campus is stereotyped. There are a few basic rules that you need to follow as a student, but these are manageable.

The campus is an amazing place to be in. There are many student-run societies and clubs in which you can take part.

It offers good placements and internship opportunities. PES University placements highlights of 2022 stats an average CTC of INR 6.5 LPA, and the highest CTC of INR 49.75 LPA

Is it a good choice to pursue an MBA from PES University, Bangalore through a management seat?

AK
Araddhya Khanna Posted On : July 5th, 2021
MBA (HRM) at XLRI Jamshedpur 2020 - 2022

One of my friends is a recent alumnus of the institute and can better represent his views regarding the same. Having studied at PES University Bangalore for two years, he mentions after gauging the overall faculty of the institute as well as the candidates who enlist via management seats, that PES University is unfortunately not the best.

  • The professors of the institute, excluding a few such as Mr. Brijesh and Mr. Deepak Shyam, are not great at par with several other top institutions like Christ University.
  • The professors do have the required industrial experience and hold degrees from top-tier institutes like IIM.
  • Moreover, he also says that the previous Dean of PES University was better than the recent one.
  • It is because he and most of the other students think that the present Dean is not completely attentive toward the problems or issues every second student faces.

Speaking in terms of the overall situation, the choice you are approaching might not be the best. It is suggested that you do not take admission in the institute if your overall goal is to learn the best in your course.

Is PESIT South Bangalore better than IEM Kolkata?

TB
Trish Banerjee Posted On : July 17th, 2021
B.Tech in ECE Department at Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata (2020)

Having friends at IEM Kolkata, I can say that this question is similar to the debate between IT and CS.

  1. As a student of IEM, you will find the professors striving diligently for you. Growth in IT is determined by two things - how you make the most of the opportunities you are getting and how much effort you are willing to put in.
  2. You will get exposure to so many opportunities due to the presence of a number of organizations around you, PESIT would be an efficient choice.

My friend got PESIT but did not opt for it, instead, he went for IEM. If he had chosen PESIT, he would have to push himself all the time to achieve his goals.
