What qualities they actually look for in interview at nitie Mumbai?

SN
Siddharth Nagar Posted On : August 18th, 2021

During the interview process at NITIE, they will judge you on the basis of your personality and technical knowledge. They will ask you questions related to your final year project, academic favorites, and your field of engineering.

The process can last for a few minutes to even 1 hour, with students securing placements in both cases. For getting into NITIE, just prepare hard on these questions:

  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. What are your academic achievements?
  3. Why do you want to pursue MBA?
  4. Explain your Final-year project (Add managerial aspects to your contributions at the project)
  5. Which other calls? Why did you choose NITIE?

Be smart while preparing for an Interview and have an in-depth knowledge of your domain. Pick one favorite subject and talk about it in the beginning.

Which is a better management course, PGDIE from NITIE Mumbai or Masters of Management from IISC Bangalore?

AS
Anupama Srivastava Posted On : August 18th, 2021

Having to know some people from both these institutes, I can say that both have the sand management course but still, there's a lot of difference between the mindset of the two.

  • The curriculum remains the same but the change comes in the teaching method.
  • IISc, as usual, has a research-oriented way of teaching.
  • Whereas NITIE focuses more on the logical and decision-making skills from the managerial point of view.
  • Both are different in the placement domain as there's a marginal difference between the average packages.
  • Also, IISc is a tier 2 college unlike NITIE.
Categories PGDIE at NITIE Mumbai MMS at IISc Bangalore
Course Fee 14.63 lakh 3.18 lakh
Highest CTC 28 LPA 26 LPA
Average CTC 15 LPA 12-18 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, ZS Associates, IBM, HP, etc. Infosys, Cognizant, Dell, TCS, etc.

So ultimately it is your decision to choose between these two colleges. Assess every criteria before finalizing one. As this will shape your career further.

Khushi Gupta Posted On : August 13th, 2021
PGDPM from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

As far as I know, if you have a score of 750 or higher, you will be contacted for an interview. For admission to NITIE, you have to pass the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

If you fall into one of the reserved categories, your required score will be lower in order to be called in for an interview.

NITIE Cutoff for GATE (Expected) –

Category GATE Cutoff Scores
General 720 to 760 +
OBC NCL 550+
SC 500+
ST 420+

Placements for all courses are good in my opinion. You can also check out the official website for more specific information.

What is the admission criterion for NITIE, Mumbai, for a student with an engineering background?

PC
Pragya Chawla Posted On : August 20th, 2021
MBA Post Graduation in Supply Chain and Operations Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering

NITIE is a renowned institute and is among the top institutes in this league. Candidates belonging to an engineering background are eligible for admission here. There are other criteria to meet which are as follows:

  • A minimum of 60% marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation should be secured if you belong to the general category and 55% marks for backward castes.
  • For PGDIM, 97.5 percentile in CAT is required for the general category. However, the CAT percentile is extremely low for backward castes.
  • The GATE cut-off for PGDIE is different over the branches. A score of 609 and above in GATE makes it certain for a callback.
  • Once shortlisted, you will receive a call for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews. The PI is headed by a team of experienced professors who inquire about your background, academic education, technical knowledge, and other general awareness fields.

Your performance in GD and PI round influences your scores and chances of acceptance. It is after this process that the Merit List is issued with the names of the selected candidates.

How tough is it to get PGDIE course of NITIE for an average student regarding GD/PI and GATE score?

PM
Pawan Mahant Posted On : August 28th, 2021
M.Tech Industrial Engineering, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2019)

PGDIE is one of the flagship courses of NITIE and getting admission in this course is very difficult. The cut-off of CAT is very high and if you can clear it, then you will have to appear for the GD-PI round. This round is very important and carries the highest weightage for your admission.

There are several other factors that have an impact on the decision for your admission. It includes your 10th & 12th marks, your graduation marks, and any prior work experience if you have any.

The chances are higher for the students who are coming from an Operations background. Even if you are a fresher from a mechanical or electrical branch, your chances of getting a seat will be much higher than the rest of the students.

Considering all of the factors mentioned, your overall profile will be evaluated and a consolidated merit list will be prepared. For this year, the GATE score for PGDIE was 609 for General candidates.

How did you get into NITIE, Mumbai, and how was your experience there?

SA
Shailja Agarwal Posted On : August 13th, 2021
PGDIE from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

One of my friends got admission through CAT. He was initially on the waitlist but was eventually accepted. According to him the college itself was a fantastic experience. Here is some of the information I gathered from him, which might be useful to you.

  • He received a CAT score of 99.4%. This led to him getting a call from NITIE.
  • The GD and PI session was good.
  • In GD they mainly discussed topics related to current trends. In PI, he was asked about himself and his overall choices. Also, they did check his general knowledge.
  • After getting admitted to NITIE, the first thing was getting to their allocated rooms.
  • Getting accustomed to the academic rigor was tough.
  • He also participated in competitions, winning a few.
  • He got an internship with a large FMCG company. It was an excellent learning experience. Seniors helped him in getting his first internship.
  • The internship was very helpful and enriching. But he also mentioned that if you do not work hard, your career can go downhill.
  • It is a good place to start for people interested in the supply chain.

Finally, he mentions that his life at NITIE was really exciting. He got to learn about the real dynamics of business and the corporate world. It groomed him to be a confident person. Overall his 2 years of experience at NITIE were really satisfying.
