Is management degree from top colleges like IIM, ISB, XLRI, SP JIMR etc worth the money?

- Conversely, during good times, people may not be as concerned about your educational background or institute affiliation, making it more important to establish and maintain connections while you can.
- When selecting an MBA program, it is crucial to consider the long-term view of your career. Think beyond immediate benefits like campus placement and focus on factors like the institute's reputation, network, and alumni presence.
- A diploma/program from a great institution stays with you for a lifetime, so it's essential to choose wisely. Make sure to do your research and select an institute that aligns with your career goals and values.

Which is better, IIM Amritsar or Great Lakes Chennai PGDM?
I think Great Lakes is a better option than IIM Amritsar. The following points support my opinion
- Establishment: IIM Amritsar is a baby IIM established in 2015 and has yet to make its mark in the industry. Great Lakes is a relatively old college with a better campus and curriculum.
- Faculty: The faculty at Great Lamar’s is more stable and varied while the faculty at IIM Amritsar comprises mostly visiting faculty.
- Brand Name: Despite being an IIM, IIM Amritsar lacks credibility while Great Lakes enjoys a great brand name.
- Industry exposure: Despite being an IIM, IIM Amritsar lacks the necessary industry exposure which is great in the part of the Great Lakes.
- Placements: The placement scenario at Great Lakes is much better than that of Amritsar. So if your ultimate goal is to get a high-paying job, Great Lakes should be your choice.
Although my opinion is strongly against IIM Amritsar, it’s only because it’s a new IIM. Any older IIM is a better choice than IIT. MBA is all about investment and ROI which is great in the case of older IIMs. I have still seen many people choose Amritsar over IIT just because of the IIM tag. So do what your heart says.
Can I do only a BBA from IIM Indore and then join IIM Ahmedabad for an MBA?
IIM Ahmedabad or any other IIM does not consider the type of college the candidate belonged to as eligibility criteria. So rest your worries and apply for MBA in your dream college even if your undergrad BBA college was a less reputed one. Regarding your undergraduate college, the only criteria are the minimum marks for appearing for the CAT exam i.e. 50%. All you need to do is get an excellent CAT score.
To get admission to any IIM, you need to focus on things like CAT score, 10th, 12th, Bachelor grade. The school and colleges from where you acquired your education do not matter at all. What matters is that your academic profile should reflect your excellent scores and involvement in extracurricular activities
So, appear for CAT, aim a 98.5+ percentile, and get admission to IIM Ahmedabad. What’s stopping you?
Have heard the 1 year MBA program at ISB Hyderabad is very rigorous. What would be the passing criteria and are there people who fail?
The ISB routine is rigorous, with a heavy workload and limited time to complete it. You will have class quizzes every week and exams every fortnight, in addition to other extracurricular activities and assignments. However, once you become accustomed to it, you may find that you enjoy the challenge.
It is important to have decent academic skills, as evidenced by a GMAT score in the range of 600 to 770, but it is also important to note that your performance in class quizzes, assignments, and other activities also plays a role in determining your grade. If you are considering applying to ISB, it is important to focus on your application and not let the rigorous routine discourage you.
How good is IMT Ghaziabad for a PGDM (2 years)? Specifically, how good is the PGDM (F/T) program?
If you are really keen to join IMT Ghaziabad go for the DCP program only. It’s the only program worth spending your time and money on. It guarantees quality education, premium batch quality, faculty, and the overall environment. Also, IMT Ghaziabad is well known for its rich competition culture.
But there are many demerits that overshadow the merits of IMT Ghaziabad. For instance, the campus has an undisciplined environment owing to the influence of Delhi culture. The faculty is also deorbiting in the sense that they don’t care about the reputation of the institute anymore. The batch size is also a major disadvantage at IMT Ghaziabad. You shouldn’t expect a batch size lower than 500-600.
For those who take the DCP program, keep in mind that the internship opportunities will be difficult due to the difference in work culture. You will have to try hard to move forward.
Do your own part of research that is not just based on figures and then join the college.
How good is IIM Ranchi's PGDM programme?

Yes, EY GDS does offer an MBA at ISB Hyderabad. But if we talk about its worth, it’s a debatable issue. My friend has been with the firm for nearly 2 months and has a lot to say about the course. Some major pros and cons below will help you make a wiser decision
Pros
- You get to interact with geniuses and gain excellent experience.
- You are a way ahead of your peers and get a spike in promotion
Cons
- The course is generally taken up by girls who want to postpone their marriage on the pretext that they are still studying or boys who have no clue what to pursue. So the peer group is of substandard quality.
- EY has recently made changes to the course and customized it to suit one’s needs. This sort, of course, is not worth the hype.
- Campus life is extremely hectic as you have to manage your course assignments alongside working on EY client engagements.
- The course has hefty fees
Make your decision after weighing the pros and cons only.
What is the MBA admissions process at IBS Hyderabad?
To successfully clear the first round, you must obtain the minimum score required by the entrance exams the college accepts, such as NMAT (150), CAT (60th percentile), and IBSAT.
If you are selected for the next round, the college will contact you via phone call and email to inform you about the GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) round. Your academic record, performance in the group discussion, and interview will be combined to determine your overall percentile.
Based on this percentile, you will be allotted a campus. If you are selected for IBS Hyderabad, you will receive a confirmation email after completing all of the aforementioned steps.
