The cutoff is the minimum score or rank required to be eligible for admission to a particular course or program in a college or university. It varies every year and is influenced by several factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the entrance examination, and the availability of seats.
For the year 2022, the cutoff for IIIT Bhubaneswar's Computer Science (CS) program was 196 in the fourth round. This means that candidates who scored below 196 were not eligible for admission to the CS program in IIIT Bhubaneswar. Similarly, the cutoff for the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) program was 186 in the fourth round. Candidates who scored below 186 were not eligible for admission to the ECE program in IIIT Bhubaneswar.
It is important to note that the cutoff varies for each round of the admission process. In the first round, the cutoff may be higher as there are more seats available, and as the rounds progress, the cutoff may decrease. Additionally, the cutoff can also vary for different categories of candidates such as General, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD.
It is recommended that candidates check the official website of IIIT Bhubaneswar or contact the admissions office for the latest and most accurate information on the cutoffs for their programs. Candidates should also prepare well for the entrance examinations and aim to score higher than the cutoff to increase their chances of securing admission to IIIT Bhubaneswar.
Your CUSAT CAT rank is decent. You’ll need to wait patiently in the counseling process. You have a high chance of being called for counseling. You might need to stick to Mechanical as your first option until the third shortlist is out.
The next thing you should be careful about is that of choosing the lower options. The reason behind this step is that sometimes you will be selected for your lower options and might get a chance to upgrade to Mechanical although there is no surety for this to happen at all times. So, choose branches like IT, civil as your lower options carefully based on your preferences. Keep your hopes high patiently and wait for the allotment positively.
A word of advice, if you are getting admission for Mechanical Engineering at any other colleges, go for it. Rather than waiting around for the opportunity to get Mechanical at CUSAT. The institute does not have a good placement record for Mechanical. You will most likely get recruited by IT firms after the completion of the course. And to get core companies you will need to score well in GATE.
Whatever the exam must be of the IBPS category, one must ensure to attempt 75-80 questions with an accuracy of over 95% to guarantee a score above cut-off. The IBPS exam is a test of speed and accuracy under the pressure circumstances and hence, usually the cut-off stands between 60 and 75 marks.
The IBPS SO IT prelims cutoff for 2020 is listed in the table below:
Category |
Cut-off marks |
General (GEN) |
81.50 |
Scheduled Caste (SC) |

The sectional cut-offs of the following include:
The total or maximum marks of General Awareness and Reasoning are 50 each while English is 25.
Cut-off marks are decided taking into consideration the level of difficulty of the exam, the total number of candidates appearing, number of vacancies and the previous year cut-offs. While preparing one must try to achieve scores greater than the previous year cut-off to be on the safe side.
There is no such proof that the standard at IIT Hyderabad is going down. However, there is proof of their consistency, you can check the round one cut-off of each year below:

2020 JEE Main Cut off |
2019 JEE Main Cut off |
2018 Cut off |
2017 Cut off |
Computer Science & Engineering |
577 |
573 |
287 |

270 |
You can clearly see that the cutoffs are almost the same from 2017 till now which shows you that IIIT-Hyderabad has maintained its standards since then.
Also, you might need to know the reasons for the high cutoff to date: No reservation policy, 12th boards marks aren’t required for admission (but a minimum of 60% in PCM is required), The reputation they have built over the years with the placements, academic and research work, Never compromise the quality with the quantity and High emphasis on coding culture and their reputation in that.
With a 7,300 general rank, you have a good chance of getting admission after the third round of counseling. You need to be observant about the cutoff of the institute for the year you are applying. As in certain cases, wherein students having ranks in thousands (30,000- 40,000) or even higher get admission at BIET Jhansi.
While in certain cases, due to the withdrawal of candidates at the last rounds of counseling, seats remain vacant. For which college conducts spot counseling to ensure all seats are getting occupied.
In recent years, the required cutoff in UPSEE at BIET Jhansi is as follows.
Specializations |
Cut off (General Category) |
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering |
1101-1514 |
B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering |

My advice would be to fill your preference of courses properly and have patience. Best of luck.
With a rank of 7,931 in CUSAT CAT, getting admission to the School of Engineering at CUSAT is pretty slim. Almost equal to null. Try other colleges. Although you may get admission through the NRI Spot round.

In certain years, the cutoff for IT reached 10000, so it depends. You may secure a seat in spot admission. Although you will need to opt for reserved seats. You can get EC, ECE on the second campus, i.e. CUCEK. But you will have to wait till the end of the entire counseling round.
The Cutoff for NMAT to get into Alliance University is 120. NMAT cut off is the base score got by candidates for the choice round. The cutoff levels are resolved separately by the NMAT in the participating organizations. In the case you were not able to score 120 you will always have an option of giving an attempt for AMAT (Alliance MAT) conducted by the college itself. You can then proceed further for the Admission selection process., where your assessment will not only be based on the score that you achieved in AMAT but the overall performance of the student from high school to your personal interview.
The college offers courses in UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses like BBA, B.Tech, M.Tech where admission is based on different exams.
For B.tech admission is based on the marks scored inJEE Main,JEE Advanced,KCET,COMEDK UGET, orAUEET.
For BBA, admission is done via AUMAT.
For M.Tech the admission procedure is through the marks scored inAUEET,GATEorPGCET

Your JELET rank should be under 1000. You can easily achieve that as the exam is not very tough and most of the questions are from the basics of 11th and 12th. So all the questions should be easy.
Also if you want to practice and study for the exams you can refer to Sourav sir’s classes where all the concepts are being taught in a beautiful way and solutions and study materials are also provided for better preparation for the exam.
After getting admission in this college, you will get many facilities and benefits from the college which will make you fall in love with this college and studying here will be fun and enjoyable. As the faculty is experienced and knowledgeable, learning new things and understanding new concepts will get much easier.
Yes, you can take IT in BIT Sindri easily with a common merit rank in JCECE. In usual circumstances, a candidate can even get Chemical Engineering in the second round of counseling.
The table below shows the cut-off ranks in JCECE for BIT, Sindri for different categories -

General cut-off rank |
OBC I cut-off rank |

A score of 90+ is considered to be enough to get a good branch in BIT Sindri, for general category students.
In my opinion, the likelihood of your profile getting into Assam Engineering College highly depends on which category you belong to. Primarily, the chances of students from the reserved categories have better chances of getting in with a low score as compared to those coming from general categories.
The following table shows the expected cut off of Assam CEE as per the category:
Category |
Expected Cut off 2020 |
General |
72-76 |
OBC/MOBC |
77-70 |
SC |
61-57 |
ST |
41-40 |
For the year 2016, the cutoff for the general category at AEC, Guwahati is 130, whereas that for OBC and SC category students was 99 and 93 respectively. The grades may fluctuate on the higher side generally. Other than this, there are a number of factors that affect the cut-off. This includes:
Now, seeing that you have scored 134 and if you are from the general category, there is very little chance or almost no chance of you getting into AEC. Your saving grace could be if you are from one of the reserved categories like OBC, SC, or ST. Here, you have a better chance to secure admission but there is no guarantee. Estimating your rank from this information, you might be in 1500+.
It is advisable to consider backup colleges as well. You can look at JIST, Bineshwar Brahma for mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering. The opportunities for other branches are not that great in Assam. However, if you are passionate enough about electronics and computer science, definitely go ahead. You will excel.
