How was your first day at NIT Surat (SVNIT)?

SG
Saksham Gupta Posted On : January 3rd, 2024
Studied at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (2019)

I had a mixed experience on my first day at SVNIT.

As a fresher, I was allotted a hostel room in GAJJAR BHAVAN. I found a huge crowd of freshers arriving at the hostel entrance. I signed the muster and went inside my hostel room. I had already seen my room during physical reporting, so I was not disappointed at all. I set up my room with the help of my mother, after which, I approached a senior who advised me to get a bicycle because my hostel is quite far from the new CRC building. While I was returning from the bicycle shop, it started raining heavily.

I reached my hostel somehow, and upon finishing all the formalities, me and my parents went to the mess to have our lunch. Upon finishing my lunch, I bid farewell to my parents. This was when I realized that I was on my own. I somehow managed my emotions and consolidated my weeping mother.

After all that, I met a school friend who had fortunately gotten a room beside mine. We finished our dinner a few hours later, and went into my room. But there was a power cut soon after, and it lasted the next morning. I was a bit disappointed. My first night at the hostel was spent without a fan in the month of July.

Despite all the difficulties, it was a start to an amazing journey. This is why I’ll never forget my first day at SVNIT. Also, not to forget, the mess food is actually good at our college.

What is the advantage of doing an MBBS from CMC Vellore, and how is it as compared to other premier institutes like AIIMS and JIPMER?

A
Admin Posted On : May 3rd, 2024

As a final year MBBS student at CMC Vellore, I can offer you some insights on the benefits of joining CMC.

CMC Vellore

Here are the advantages of doing an MBBS from CMC Vellore rather than doing it at AIIMS/JIPMER -

  1. CMC Vellore receives a huge patient inflow, which is around 8000 patients per day. CMC offers a wide exposure of rare and common diseases to students during their clinical postings.
  2. The faculty is nationally and internationally renowned. The CMC teachers are devoted towards carrying out new research activities, and they are very supportive as well. But in this case, AIIMS and JIPMER are equally good.
  3. CMC follows the best protocol system among premier medical institutes in India. It offers the best patient care and a wide range of learning opportunities.
  4. The UG hostels at CMC are better than JIPMER and AIIMS. The senior-junior interaction is really good in CMC hostels.
  5. By doing an MBBS at CMC, one gets electives in foreign universities and secondary hospital programs (SHP) across India during clinical years.
  6. The internship period at CMC offers more exposure as compared to other premier medical colleges in India.
  7. CMC has a student governing body system.

CMC Vellore offers a rich exposure and plenty of opportunities to MBBS students. Getting into CMC is a great opportunity.

Is imed pune is a good b school?

SP
Sridhar Pandey Posted On : April 21st, 2021
Studied BTech from IIIT A (2018)

My cousin brother studies at the IMED Pune institute. It is an above-average place of study and the measurement criteria which is the CAT score is not required there for admission. Hence, only ranking remains as a parameter of quality. IMED Pune has a rank of #63 on the NIRF ranking scale for the year 2020.

Here are some other parameters for a better judgement-

  • Placements- For the year 2017, 2018, and 2019 over 250 students were placed each year on an average package of INR 17-29 LPA. In 2020, 239 students were placed with the highest international package of INR 54 LPA and the highest domestic package of INR 18 LPA. The average salary this year is INR 7.5 LPA.
  • Education- the classes rely mostly on the expertise of guest lecturers which is almost below average. Many students have registered complaints regarding that as well.
  • Infrastructure- The campus is a lush green space with spacious classes and other basic amenities for sports, dining, and studying. The library is good but only contains course-related material and has only a single book issue facility.

The students are bright, hence competition is tough and expecting a complaint to be resolved soon is a bit difficult.

However, this college is good if you do not wish to struggle through the CAT or MAT exams for Admission into the MBA program.

What are some of the most overrated things in NIT Calicut?

JD
Joydeep Das Posted On : March 26th, 2021
Worked at National Institute of Technology, Calicut

One of my friends, who studied at NIT Calicut, once told me some overrated things that a student may experience in NIT Calicut. The followings are the most overrated things that the students may get in NIT Calicut.

Everyone wants to join clubs mainly in their first year that is ICA, ISTE, and LnD. In the following, some reasons are highlighted why the students want to join this.

  • ISTE: Basically, the existence of this club is just a joke. Maybe, they conduct some engineering and pseudo-cultural events if most of the top members are familiarised with the Jackshit of engineering. It seems very impressive in the first years, as the students are much young with less maturity, so it is easy to accumulate cash from them.
  • LnD: In this club, people think that reading Chetan Bhagat will make them scholarly geniuses. Besides, the students who have read Dan Brown and Robert Ludlum think that they know each and everything about fiction. The only interesting thing about this club is its names, and who have named this club and, that guy must have a good sense of humor.
  • ICA: This club consists of some frank people who do not have anything to do, and they only come here to dance. This place is quite interesting to meet up with friends, especially the girls, although they will end up in a relationship by making it a friend zone. Additionally, there are too many politics to enter this clubhouse as most of these club members are from North India. Maybe these people have a lower IQ of NITC by 20 points or less than that.

Thus, it can be concluded that these overrated things in NIT Calicut are actually beneficial for the student as it helps them in personal development. Club culture in NIT Calicut helps a student to build a network, which is advantageous for their future career development plan.
