Ashoka University is a liberal arts university which provides under graduation and post-graduation courses for both science and humanities streams. The university focuses on holistic development of an individual. The institute also follows a holistic admission procedure. Another speciality of this university is that it provides an interdisciplinary major. Admission to the university is a three stage process and is very selective. So, whether the university is worth joining depends upon the following factors:

  • Placement

Ashoka University guarantees 100 per cent placement. The jobs are offered in diverse fields such as Administration, Business Development, Employee Engagement, etc. Highest salary package offered is Rs 23 Lakh per annum and the average salary package offered ranges between Rs 6 Lakh per annum to Rs 9 Lakh per annum. Top recruiters are Airtel, Axis Bank, Clix Capital, Deloitte US, Mckinsey & Company, etc. The university also provides several internship opportunities for students. One of them is the Summer Abroad Programme wherein the students could pursue courses at international institutions.

The Political Science Department at both Ashoka University and Jadavpur University is quite good.

Ashoka University offers different branches of Political Science as honors courses. It has a wonderful group of faculty which include graduates or PhDs from ivy league colleges. The university also offers a choice to pursue a fourth year of undergraduate, which is a requirement for most of the good universities abroad.

Jadavpur University is an old well-reputed university and the department of international relations of JU is one of the best in the country. The infrastructure is quite good at JU. Apart from the departmental library, there is a central library which has over 4000 books. Seminars are conducted by guest lecturers from all over the country and the world. Graduates mostly go on to pursue higher studies from reputed universities in India and abroad.

The Young India Fellowship program (YIF) offered by Ashoka University is excellent.

Many other institutions are offering Young India Fellowship programs. Most of the reviews were in favor of Ashoka University. After a lot of searching, I managed to find Ashoka university. I called them about such programs, and in a soft tone, they asked me to visit campus.

YIF has an excellent placement record of 99%. It is valued in India as well as abroad. It provides a great career path for your life and growth. Those who are pursuing a Masters or Ph.D., the YIF gives them a chance to study abroad. The majority of them get admitted to Harvard University, LSE, and many other colleges in India. 

YIF is an outstanding experience for any student. It also depends on what kind of person you are as well. The telephonic interview of YIF is a very relaxed one. They mainly get interviews based on verifying the application.
