Is there any attendance rule in IIT BHU?

AR
Aditya Raghav Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

Yes, attendance rule is there in IIT BHU Varanasi. Students are required to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance. If anyone fails to maintain the cut-off attendance, they may have to repeat the subject as professors sometimes award Z grade to students with less than 85% attendance.

But it mostly depends on the professor of that subject. Some professor follows this rule strictly while some may don’t. So, to be safe students should maintain a minimum of 85 percent attendance. It's only for theoretically class, some professor wants 90 percent or above attendance in Lab Classes. So, the conclusion is that there is a rule of compulsory attendance (85%), but it depends on a professor.

Which is better RGIPT or IIT-BHU or IIPE?

AT
Aditya Tiwari Posted On : February 15th, 2022
B.Tech Petroleum Engineering, Indian Institute Of Petroleum and Energy, Vishakapatnam (2020)

RGIPT, IIT BHU, and IIPE, all three are reputed national-level colleges. Choosing among these three, depends on the course you are interested in. Selecting the right branch is more important than brand recognition of the college. So, don’t choose IIT BHU, only because of the IIT tag. It’s true that the IIT tag offers certain advantages. But for job opportunities, your branch will matter more.

  • If you are getting Ceramics or Pharmaceutical at IIT BHU and Petroleum Engineering at RGIPT, then go for RGIPT. The Petroleum and Chemical branch of RGIPT offers more placement opportunities and exposure.
  • If you are interested in other core branches then IIT BHU is a better option.
  • Now, between RGIPT and IIPE, the former is the better choice for Petroleum Engineering. The course curriculum for the branch is similar but you will get better alumni support at RGIPT.
  • For Chemical Engineering, IIPE has a better course structure. Also, IIPE has a huge locational advantage. HPCL’s refinery is located in Visakhapatnam. The institute is only a few hours away from Kakinada, which has a huge potential of producing Methane Hydrates.

You should choose IIT BHU CSE. It is among the top 7 IITs and offers better opportunities to students.

  • IIT BHU CSE fees are INR 5.33 Lakhs. While BITS Pilani charges INR 18.98 Lakhs for the CSE degree. If you join IIT BHU, you don’t need to spend a huge amount on your undergraduate degree. You can save that money for doing master's.
  • IIT tag offers many advantages. If you are going to apply to ivy league schools, having a degree from a reputed IIT will be a plus. IIT BHU professors are well-reputed and having LORs from them will get you into a good college.
  • IIT BHU has a huge alumni base and you will have much better networking opportunities.

Which is better, Kanpur civil or IIT BHU electrical?

VG
Vishal Gupta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

According to the latest industry trends, Electrical Engineering has more demand than Civil Engineering. However, pursuing Civil from a premiere Institute like IIT Kanpur makes it an option to consider.

If you have a keen interest in civil engineering, or you have plans to go for higher studies, do research or opt for civil services, you can choose Civil from IIT Kanpur. According to the placement trends for the academic year 2019, over 85% of students got placed from IIT Kanpur and the average CTC offered was around 11 LPA.

Electrical engineering offers a lucrative career, better future career growth, and needless to say, more core jobs than civil engineering. In terms of curriculum, IIT BHU offers a wide variety of Industry relevant optional subjects for Electrical. Electrical Engineering students receive higher packages, sometimes on par with the CSE students. Students are also offered jobs in a diverse domain, like Core, coding, FMCG, consulting, and Finance & Accounting. The placement highlights for IIT BHU last year reveal a total of 88 students got placed from Electrical Engineering and the average package ranged between 10 LPA to 58 LPA. Electrical Engineering would provide a better peer group as it is one of the most opted courses at IITs, and there is stiff competition to grab the course and then subsequently, a good job.

Based on the above factors, the suggestion would be to make an informed and wise decision by considering all the factors.
