There is a separate room for the first-year graduates and integrated dual degree Mtech and MBA students. The hostel for first-year students is BH-2 (NILGIRI HOSTEL). The process for applying for the hostel is simple. When you visit the college for final verification after you complete all your formalities you get a hostel registration form.
After you got the form, you have to visit BH-2 and simply ask the warden for room registration. The warden will guide you to all the rooms and the best part is you have full freedom to select the room of your choice. You just have to take a look at all the available rooms and get them registered.
Coming to the occupancy of the room, rooms are available for single as well as double occupancy depending on your comfort, though most of the Btech students go for single occupancy. The lobby could be peaceful or loud depending on the students of the nearby rooms.
IIIT Gwalior is a public institute, and the fee structure is highly subsidized by the government. The fee structure for SC students is relatively lower than the fee charged for general-category students. However, the exact fee structure for SC students may vary depending on the year and other factors. It is recommended to check with the institute for the latest fee structure.
For the academic year 2021-22, the following is the fee structure for B.Tech courses at IIIT Gwalior:
The total fee for one academic year is approximately INR 70,000 for SC students at IIIT Gwalior. However, it is advisable to visit the official website of IIIT Gwalior or contact the institute for the latest information regarding the fee structure for SC students.
Firstly, you may know that IIITM Gwalior is the first IIIT to be established by the Government of India by Congress Minister Mr. Scindia and was inaugurated by the MHRD minister Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi. It has nearly 100% faculty members who hold a Ph.D. degree. You may not know even these -
The scholarship provision is a bit upsetting because it is made available to students from Andhra Pradesh. The website describes scholarships with much finesse and claims to help those in need of the same, however in reality it is not accomplished and those who need it are the ones who are not able to receive it.
The date of arrival of forms, the date of submission, and the procedure of scholarship accessibility are unclear. The merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to 10 of the first-year students, who are below a certain financial average and have a good JEE Main rank. Some students who have been worthy have suffered because of the mismanagement. All else is good at the institute.
IIITM Gwalior is an autonomous Institute of National importance. It was built and developed in an area of about 160 acres.

One of my close friends is an alumnus of IIITM Gwalior and here is what he had to say about their M.Tech in CSE program.
IIITM Gwalior is the best choice but, the decision is yours. Weigh out the pros and cons and choose for yourself.
It goes without saying, the idea of pursuing a degree in M.Tech in Information Security, that too, from an institute like IIITM Gwalior is a big deal. As it is very decent and you will not regret this decision. All the domains that concern the securityaspect would be covered under their curriculum. Some of my friends are from IIITM Gwalior, and here are some facts about the institution.
Once you reach there the kind of environment you would be exposed to would be wholesome. As far as academics are concerned there will be no complaints about it.
IIITM-Gwalior is the best choice to opt and if you are getting it, grab the opportunity. It is the oldest IIT of India with its own campus spread over 160+ acres and is totally funded by MHRD. The institute has a decent placement with the average package for M.Tech was around 10.5 LPA. In MBA, the highest was 15 LPA.
If you're not getting IIIT Gwalior, then the order should be as follows: IIIT Lucknow > IIIT Vadodara > IIIT Kota.
IIIT Lucknow was recently established and is making good progress and the placement records are good. If one has to choose between IIIT- Kota or IIIT- Vadodara or IIIT- Lucknow, choose IIIT-Lucknow any day!
IIIT Vadodara doesn’t own a permanent campus but it is known for its coding culture and the placement statistics are far better. Also, final-year students do get an opportunity for an internship to work in Amazon.
IIIT Kota is in the beautiful campus of MNIT, Jaipur spread in an area of 329 acres.
Want to have a fulfilling college life in the sense you want to enjoy being part of a college fest.
The factors which used for ordering the above institutes are:
Hence, before opting for any college just ask yourself, in which field or stream you want to get into so that you don’t regret it later. As 4 years duration is not too little to give and graduating from a reputed college with good placement and tag plays a vital role in your upcoming future.
IIITM Gwalior is a Govt university. The institute needs to work on the management and administration process to improve its ranking. Being a private deemed university, IIIT Hyderabad has complete autonomy and least bureaucracy. It is a research-oriented institute and often modifies the teaching methodology according to real-time industry problems.
One of the major factors that contribute to the higher ranking of IIIT Hyderabad is its coding culture. Students of the university dominate all major competitive coding forums. IIITM Gwalior has a good coding culture too, but it ranks below IIIT H.
IIITM G teaches topics such as AI and ML. But these courses aren’t taught well. This might be the case for IIIT H as well.
My brother was in the same fix a few years back. After considering various factors he chose IIITM. Here are some of the reasons why he opted for IIITM.
Here’s what you should know about the placements and fee structure of the three institutes.
College name |
Placement (Average Salary) |
Fees (first-year fees) |
DA IICT |
INR 9.5 to 10 LPA for ICT graduates |
INR 1.97 lakhs |
IITDM |
INR 9.9 LPA |
INR 1.38 lakhs |
IIITM Gwalior |
INR 24.33 LPA |
INR 1.49 lakhs |
Last but not the least, do not keep faculty as one of your deciding factors. This can be hugely misleading. Visit the official websites of the institutes, weigh in the factors important for you, and choose accordingly. Both these institutes have their advantages.
Yes, there are quite a few options available for fee reductions for students from a financially weak background. Most students are not aware of this for some reason. These are mainly given out in the form of scholarships or fee waivers and a lot of them are based on your JEE Mains rank and your family’s income.
Just ensure that you have good JEE rank because scholarships are given based on that.
