Better is a very relative term. Better in what aspect? Every institute has unique traits and one might be better than the other on the basis of one aspect but not on the other. That being said, consider the following parameters and the preferable institute in that regard

  • Placement: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • Coding culture: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • Exposure : IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • PhD faculty: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • Campus facilities: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • Co-curricular activities: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar
  • Alumni network: IIITM Gwalior>NIT Silchar

In a nutshell, IIITM is better than NIT Silchar in every aspect given that you are interested in the IT field. So unless you are after the NIT tag, choose IIITM Gwalior over NIT Silchar.
