These are three very different fields that can not be compared with each other whatsoever. Each of them is prestigious in itself. They can not be put in an order. Still, here are some basic points worth mentioning.
A more important question that you should ask yourself is “What does my interest lie in?” The way you pursue the course will decide its worth then. You should make sure that you flourish in whatever you do and build a good career out of it.
There should not be any confusion before choosing between the both since the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore is one the leading universities in India. It has a broad alumni network spread all over the world. Here is a brief outline of the institute.
NIRF 2020 rank (Law) | 1 |
No of offers | 44 |
No of PPO | 23 |
Highest CTC | 18 LPA |
Major recruiters | L&L Partners, Trilegal, Societe Generale, etc. |
NLSIU, Bangalore offers great exposure. Becoming a part of such a renowned institute and its legacy is in itself a great opportunity. So, given the chance, choose NLSIU without any second thought.
The marks required for getting admission change every year as the level of difficulty also changes each year.
According to some of my friends studying there, CLAT sets a tough paper one year and an easy paper the next year and vice versa. However, this should not be taken for granted.
Do not think of a particular score while attempting CLAT as this will hamper your chances. You should aim to give your best and attempt any number of questions you think are possible on your part.
One of my friends studied at NUJS. According to her, hardships have varied reasons from academics to personal.
Lastly, all the things like hobbies, extra-curricular, etc. disappear. But even after all the hardships, it still is the best time of a student’s life at NLSIU.
A friend of mine recently got into NLSIU Bangalore. Here are some of the strategies that worked for him.
Don’t think too much about getting into NLSIU, follow your plan, and take mocks regularly. With practice and strategized preparation you can get into NLSIU Bangalore.
There is no doubt that NLS is the superior institute. It has many advantages in terms of ranking, exposure, and faculty. Even though NLUD is making significant progress and its infrastructure can be considered better than NLS but still it lags behind in certain aspects.
The placement details for NLSIU Bangalore for the year 2020 is mentioned in the table below:
Particulars | Statistics |
Total Students | 80 |
Students registered for Placements | 58 |
Highest Package | INR 18 Lakhs per annum |
Lowest package | INR 15 Lakhs per annum |

People may advise you to attend NLUD as it is closer to your home, but you will learn, explore, and enjoy your college years more if you go to a different city, away from your parents, and discover everything on your own.
It can be said that NLSIU is the best institute for law. Here are some reasons as to why.
Studying at NLSIU is hectic but never boring and the statement about no extracurricular activities is false. There are so many extracurricular activities that you might sometimes get confused about which to take part in.
You can easily drop a year in RMLNLU for NLSIU or NALSAR. The academic calendar at RMLNLU is completely different and not so tight. There are no mid-semester exams and only end-semester exams take place.
It is not mandatory to take part in moots, debates, and mediation competitions. You can score well in your semester-end exams by studying 2 weeks before them and can easily devote time and prepare for CLAT.
Thus we can conclude that it is just a myth among people who think that they will not get time after getting admission to RMLNLU. So remove this myth from your mind and start preparing for the exam.
This is entirely a matter of your choice or preference. Both these courses have a very different offering from each other in terms of learning. One is a double bachelor (BA LLB) and the other is a Bachelor's + Master’s degree (BBA-MBA). You can choose one or the other on the basis of your interest. If you are someone who wants to pursue a career in law and be a lawyer, you should pick the course from NLSIU, and if the Management and business side of things is where your interests lie, the clear choice is IIM Indore.
If placements are what concern you, IIM Indore is the winner as compared to NLSIU. IIM Indore’s Integrated Programme in Management has an average pay package of about 20 lakhs per annum which is way more than NLSIU’s median at 12 lakhs per annum for a BA LLB graduate. Along with this, IIM Indore also offers opportunities to be placed abroad, and those who get placed abroad can get a package up to 90 LPA, on the other hand, NLSIU doesn’t have much scope for placements abroad and the few that take place don’t garner more than a 20L PA package.
Presently, only one college comes under the NLSIU tag and it is number one on the list. In order to get into NLSIU Bangalore, you have to make sure that your rank falls between AIR 1 to AIR 30.
Surely, there are other colleges as well that you can get into after cracking CLAT, the ones with the NLU and NALSAR tag. Here are some facts you should know about NLU.
Therefore try working harder for your CLAT exam, as the better your rank will get you admitted in your preferred colleges.
