This is really easy to choose and without any doubt, KJ Somaiya College of Engineering should be preferred to VESIT. The reasons are as follows.
Institute | KJ Somaiya College of Engineering | VESIT |
Highest salary | INR 18.75 lakhs per annum | INR 14 lakhs per annum |
Number of companies visited | 104 | 25+ |
Number of offers made | 655 | 317 |
Apart from that, KJ Somaiya College of Engineering offers one of the best campuses in the Mumbai region with amazing sports facilities which very few campuses in Mumbai can match.
Companies like ZS Associates and Morgan Stanley organize hackathons at the college which offer chances to convert internships.
All these factors make KJ Somaiya College of Engineering a much better engineering college to pursue CSE.
Yes IT and CS are both similar in nature. There is no such difference in the curriculum as well. Both the streams get equal job and placement opportunities. Even the mechanical students learn to code for getting placements.
KJ Somaiya is an autonomous institution and you will get an advantage due to this. The placements at KJ Somaiya are much better than VESIT.
The placement statistics of KJ Somaiaya is as follows:
Highest CTC offered |
INR 40 LPA. |
Average CTC offered |
INR 5.71 LPA. |
No of companies visited |
64 |
No of IT students places |
160 |
No of CSE students placed |
157 |
Both the IT stream and CS streams get similar kinds of positions in the market. You should definitely go for IT from KJ Somaiya College.
According to my friends studying there, KJSCE is well equipped with infrastructural facilities, including separate hostels for boys and girls, more than 70 labs, a widespread library, classrooms and seminar halls, a spacious auditorium, sports equipment and infrastructure, and a medical centre.

KJSCE has the best mechanical engineering faculty but it has fewer placements. The placements for the Computer Science and IT branch are the highest. The majority number of students get placed from these two branches. These branches are the baggage of opportunities. Even if you are unable to crack top interviews, there are still opportunities to go with mass recruiters like Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, and others.
To conclude, the branch branches to pursue in terms of return are CSE and IT in KJSCE, but Mechanical Engineering is the best for academic learning.
You may have confused SPIT (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) with SPCE (Sardar Patel College of Engineering). SPIT is not an autonomous institute. The courses offered in SPIT are Computers, IT, Electronics, and Electronics and Telecom.
Deciding Factors:
If you are looking for any particular program, then you should narrow down your choice of college based on courses. If you are more college-driven then you should go through the following points to make the right decision.
VJTI:
Considering all the factors, VJTI is the best option.
The placement statistics of recent years at VJTI are as follows.
Average CTC |
6.8 LPA |
Highest CTC |
27 LPA |
Academics and co-curricular do not depend on the institute only. It is what you make of it. VJTI is the best choice as it provides a good network and exposure.
Preference Order:
The preference order of the institutes other than VJTI is as follows.
If you get admission to VJTI you should definitely opt for it. You should consider what course you are choosing and research about the facilities and placements. For example, CS at SPIT has better placement than ME at VJTI or any of the other colleges mentioned here.
Also, autonomous colleges have better administration in MU. They have a better examination schedule, quick result release and you will have higher chances of securing a good CGPA.
Out of textile engineering from VJTI and CS from KJ Somaiya, CS from Somaiya will be a better choice. As one of my friends studied there, I am able to share some facts about it.
Categories |
Textile Engineering at VJTI |
CS at KJ Somaiya |
Course Fee |
3.24 lakhs |
13.80 lakhs |
Highest CTC |
18-19 LPA |
23 LPA |
Average CTC |
4-5 LPA |
15 LPA |
Recruiting Companies |
Pantaloons, Raymond, Reliance, Amazon, etc. |
Capgemini, KPMG, Morgan Stanley, Wipro, etc. |
Choosing textile engineering from the VJTI can get a bit tricky further in your career. CSE is a much more reliable branch on which to focus your career. But if a person is interested in the textile branch and without any second thought, opt for VJTI, and if not then for KJ Somaiya.
IMI Delhi is the best option among the mentioned institute. It offers good academics and placement opportunities. IMI Delhi placements 2022 had an average CTC of INR 15.23 LPA and the highest CTC was INR 32 LPA.
The rest of the institutes are almost at par in terms of opportunities. KJ Somiya offers better campus life and peer learning opportunities, comparably.
In terms of placements, LBSIM and FORE are almost the same. However, FORE changes around 30-40% more than LBSIM.
Going by the statistics, your preference order should be - IMI Delhi > KJ Somaiya > FORE ~ LBSIM.
You must ask yourself what interests you. Choose a branch that is only allowed by your marks and cutoffs. That is the most serious error you can make. Without a doubt, the college from which you graduate is significant. What matters more is what academic records and experiences you leave with. If your grades allow you to choose between SC and ST in Swami, you will be eligible for many more colleges and branches. Even in KJSCE for EXTC. Yes, both colleges are excellent. You should pursue CS in Swami, but don't just enroll in colleges and branches because your grades and cut-offs allow you to.
Allow yourself plenty of time. Make a decision that will benefit you and your interests in the long run. Don't get your seat confirmed anywhere until the last round of admission and vacancy until you get one of those you want to be in. the cutoffs for vacancy seats fall like anything at the end of admission rounds. students with scores of 170 and 120 have been seen in the same class.
KJSCE is a decent college and offers ample opportunities to excel academically. After becoming autonomous, the college has introduced dual degree and student exchange programs. Along with your engineering major, you can do a minor in another branch of engineering or in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Industrial Psychology, Languages, etc.
The faculties are cooperative and friendly. Placements are decent. CSE and IT branches receive better placement opportunities compared to the other branches. KJSCE B.Tech placements 2022 reports an average CTC of INR 7.15 LPA and the highest CTC of INR 13.66 LPA.
