What is trial round in CUSAT?

SB
Shweta Bakshi Posted On : July 20th, 2021
Studied at Cochin University of Science and Technology (2019)

The trial allotment round in CUSAT is not like a real allotment round. By the trial rounds, they give you a very rough idea about the position you get in the rank list for the particular branch.

  • If your rank is 17 in the trial allotment round for the computer science branch then it means 17 students are ahead of you.
  • Basically, the purpose of conducting the trial allotment rounds is that the chances for you to get admission are high as the students travel miles just to get the admission.
  • If they do not get admitted then it would be a complete waste of time as well as money.

Lastly, we can say that the trial allotment rounds are just to give you an idea of which branch you are likely to get. So that you can complete the further criteria accordingly considering all other things together.

SB

CUSAT and TKM both take students based on CET. Students always land in confusion between these two. CUSAT also admits students based on the KEAM score. Being a student of CUSAT, I can say it is better than TKM in several ways.

  • Global Recognition - CUSAT has a better global recognition than TKM. CUSAT has been awarded by many countries for its excellent performance in the fields of education.
  • Culture - CUSAT is more linked and connected with growing industries therefore it offers its students better startup programs and cultures. It also has a wide community to help the students with the real-world industry.
  • Facilities: - High tech facilities are offered by CUSAT. Well-equipped and high-tech labs with the latest technological advancements are present there.
  • Placements - It definitely offers better placement than TKM. Its placement records and stats are better than TKM for every academic year.
Categories CUSAT TKM
Course Fee 3.53 lakh 8410 (1st year)
Highest CTC 15 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 7 LPA 3.5-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, etc. Oracle, Wipro, Microsoft, Infosys, etc.

CUSAT is situated in Kochi which is a beautiful city and also an industrial hub. So students will definitely benefit from the nearby industries. CUSAT is a university established on its own hard work. It has its specially made curriculum and revised topics which proves beneficial to the students

What GPA is safe in the IT branch of SOE CUSAT for a good job?

VG
Vidhi Ghose Posted On : July 20th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology

CUSAT has a very strict and necessary rule when it comes to placements. It doesn’t matter which branch you are in, you have to follow the rule irrespective of your subjects, stream, or branch.

The basic rule in CUSAT, in SOE, or CUCEK is that for placements, you must have an 8 GPA or a minimum percentage of 75 percentile. The GPA, however, does not guarantee you a placement from any company but it allows you to apply to any of the companies visiting the campus.

7.5 GPA or near about 70 percentile is also a good percentile. However, it’s not wise to approach your studies with a grade-oriented attitude. Try to secure good grades, but learn along the way too.

Which is better at CUSAT, IT or EC?

SR
Sikha Rajput Posted On : July 20th, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communications Engineering at Cochin University Of Science

Both the options are good. There is no such difference in the quality of education, either in these two branches, or any other branch in CUSAT.

They make you work hard, focus on every detail, and stress a lot on the practical classes and labs.

As for the faculty, 85% are permanent. As for the quality of faculty, everyone will have a different view. According to my friends at CUSAT, the only difference you will find between the branches is that the EC people toil 3 times harder than the other branches.

According to the overall placement statistics the average and highest CTC offered to the students is 4 LPA and 15 LPA.

You should choose the branch that is better for you. Think about the branch where your interest lies, will you be able to manage the workload efficiently, does the subject interest you, or which branch has the better placements matter. However, I would like to advise you not to be bothered by placements any more.

How is the CUSAT ranking, cutoff, and placement for a B.Tech 4 year?

Aparna Das Posted On : February 23rd, 2024

CUSAT is ranked 63rd in the overall college rankings of NIRF for 2023. It has two colleges for B.Tech. One of them is SOE i.e. School of Engineering in Kochi City, and the other is CUCEK i.e. Cochin University College of Engineering in Pulinkunnu. It is a village roughly 100 km away from SOE.

The cutoff varies from year to year. My brother’s rank was 3129. He got Civil in SOE, a few years back. For CS/IT, you’ll need at least a rank >1000. The placements are decent for CS/IT and Safety & Fire graduates.

The average package for these streams is 3 LPA, and the highest package is around 20 LPA. Amazon sometimes visits the campus to make recruitments. The placements are in a poor condition for other branches. Moreover, the CUCEK campus lacks lab facilities for Civil and Mechanical.

Overall, CUSAT is a decent choice for B.Tech, but it lags behind in terms of placements and facilities for non CS/IT branches.

Which is better, IIIT Kancheepuram computer engineering or NIT Trichy EEE?

SG
Sheya Ghose Posted On : September 4th, 2021
M.Tech Product Design & Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacture

Firstly you should decide which stream you want to go with and then look at the colleges for the same.

There are some parameters on which you should especially focus on which include an established brand with great recognition, placement history, and excellent startup culture. According to all these parameters, NIT Trichy is the best place for you. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered was 6 LPA.

On the other hand, IIITDM Kancheepuram offers a unique curriculum. It addresses the design and manufacturing issues faced by the industry. At the end of your course, you will be able to converse with the technical experts in your relevant field of study. Although IIITDM Kancheepuram is a new institute and doesn’t have a great placement record yet, it is growing in terms of its reach and brand value.

Should I Leave IIM Ahmedabad admission offer for RBI Grade B?

AS
Anuj Sharma Posted On : February 24th, 2022
studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

Let’s talk about the advantages and disadvantages of these options before choosing one of them.

RBI Grade B -

  • RBI comes only after UPSE. Considering the political pressure of UPSE, RBI can be the best job in India.
  • The salary package is similar to the median CTC offered at IIMA.
  • RBI has great job security, irrespective of the ruling party. Govt. policies like privatization won’t affect RBI.
  • Posting will be always in the state capital.
  • RBI jobs have a great work-life balance.

IIMA -

  • Batch size of IIMA is over 400. You will have to do exceptionally well to stand out from the crowd and bag offers from top investment banks and consulting firms.
  • The course fee for the PGP is INR 23 lakhs. This can be burdensome for some students. Even if you get an INR 25 LPA CTC, after paying education loans, tax, EMI, etc, you will have around INR 1 lakh in hand.
  • Many quit investment banking jobs or consulting jobs after a few years due to huge job pressure.
  • The Covid-19 recession caused many recruiters to withdraw their offer even for IIM A,B,C. There are a number of things that can affect final placements.

Factor in all these points to make the decision that’s best for you.

How are placements at IPM IIM Indore as compared to IITs?

Namrata Das Posted On : January 23rd, 2024

IIMs and IITs are completely different brands. While IIMs offer management studies, the forte of IITs is engineering studies. So it is not wise to compare the placements of IIM Indore with those of the IITs.

As per the consolidated report of IIM Indore, here are the 2023 placement stats for its PGP and IPM courses-

  1. The highest package for 2023 was 1.14 CPA, with an increase of 132.6% from the previous placement season.
  2. The average CTC was 30.21 LPA, and the median CTC was 27.2 LPA. The average CTC saw 20.8% increase, and the median CTC saw 12.9% increase.
  3. The average CTC for top 100 placed students was 52.06 LPA, and for top 200 placed students, it was 40.55 LPA.
  4. The list of prominent recruiters included names like Google, Adani, Accenture, Cipla, EY, IBM, etc.
  5. Companies from Consulting, Finance, General Management, HR, Operations, IT, Analytics, Sales and Marketing sectors visited the campus for recruitments.

Thus, IIM Indore is a great choice for your management studies. But make sure to choose your career path based on your goals and vision, instead of simply looking at the placement stats of various colleges.

NMIMS provides you with the best platform for networking with a vibrant and diverse student community.

  • After a rigorous selection process, the meritorious students from across India become a part of the NMIMS community.
  • In addition, the level of diversity attracts students from various backgrounds and places to join NMIMS.
  • The institute is home to approximately 23% freshmen and 77% work-experienced students from a variety of educational backgrounds, including engineering (84%), commerce (8%), management (3%), science (2%), arts (1%) and others (2 percent).

Life is great here because you get to stay in Mumbai. There are campus fests, but they are not in comparison to other popular fests. There isn't much to say about the culture at NMIMS, but that's okay because the city life of Mumbai makes up for it.Dee

Studied BS-MS in IISER Pune

If you wish to get the most out of your college life, you will have to carry on with a very busy lifestyle. There will be classes, loads of lab work, studies, extracurricular activities, going out with friends, for dinner, ordering pizza, playing video games, movies, and a lot more things. You will be independent and decide what is good for you and what is not.

You get a lot of freedom in allotting your time to various activities. The teachers that usually teach you, make the most of the time and are experts for this. The labs are well built. The hostels are equipped with all kinds of amenities. The college has good sports facilities. But in the end, IISER is for those students whose major goal is to do research.
