Is there is equal value in doing an MTECH from IIT Bombay in comparison to doing a BTECH from IIT Bombay?

AT
Adwait Tejas Posted On : March 18th, 2023
studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2021)

As an IITB undergraduate, you may observe that some UGs do not respect M.Techs from IIT Bombay. However, this is not a fair judgment as M.Techs work hard on their projects, have great practical knowledge of their stream, and know their stuff. While clearing JEE is a parameter to gauge one's intelligence, it does not solely determine one's worth or capability.

Interestingly, the placement survey of the past 2 years reveals that M.Techs give tough competition to UGs during placements and get placed in core jobs with good packages. In fact, in some cases, fewer UGs get placed in core jobs and instead opt for non-core sectors or start-ups. Companies like BMW and Mahindra have taken in a good number of M.Techs from the mechanical stream.

Therefore, it is crucial to recognize your capabilities and potential, and not judge or compare yourself based on the degree you possess. B.Techs and M.Techs have different parameters of evaluation, and both seem to have done well for themselves in their respective fields. Remember to focus on your skills and knowledge, work hard, and opportunities will follow

Which IIM is the best (IIM Kashipur, IIM Udaipur or IIM Tiruchirappalli)?

SZ
Saher Zehra Posted On : January 24th, 2023
Lived in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Depending on who you ask, this question has a variety of answers. The majority of the students, faculty, and business representatives you'll come into contact with, however, rank Kashipur last among the three colleges mentioned.

Most people, especially in the south, prefer Trichy over Udaipur when it comes to placements. However, in the past two years, people from Mumbai, Calcutta, and Delhi region have also made this recommendation. One reason for this is that Udaipur is overly dependent on its director, who, according to reports, has a narrow perspective on placements. Contrarily, Trichy is thought to take a more well-rounded and superior approach to academics, extracurriculars, and placements. This is why Trichy was chosen over Udaipur.

Are freshers ragged at BITS Goa Campus?

AS
Ananya Singh Posted On : August 3rd, 2021
Studied Physics & Computer Science at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2021)

A friend of mine is studying at the BITS Goa campus. As per his experience, there is no ragging taking place at the BITS Goa campus.

There might be a fun introduction for the freshers, but it will not hurt anyone. As a fresher, my friend used to accompany his seniors to their rooms. Seniors are friendly in this institute. The only thing they might mind is freshers calling them sir, Bhaiya, and other names.

Ragging is an offense in BITS Goa like other colleges. The college adheres to all the Anti-Ragging laws by the government, UGC Regulations, an Anti-Ragging Committee, and Anti-Ragging Squads at the institute.

After doing a PGP in ACM from NICMAR, which job will I be getting, and how will be life after that?

AS
Anamika Sinha Posted On : May 31st, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR)

After you pass out from NICMAR, that name has a lot of significance. The organization you join values it plainly, and they have strong standards (these standards were established by former students who are currently in key management positions).

NICMAR students mostly get placed in Planning/Contracts/Business development/ Tendering kind of profiles.

The early years would involve a lot of work and long hours. Once you adapt, learn, and establish yourself, you'll soon succeed in your roles and be able to compete in decision-making with top management.

This is a fundamental concept for whatever company you work for following NICMAR. Simply put, NICMAR is a way to add quality and relevance to your hard work so that you might succeed at a faster rate. It is not a shortcut to a better life or job.

In IIM Ahmedabad, how did you find your classes on the first day?

YJ
Yogesh Jindal Posted On : November 22nd, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad

My sister is an IIM Ahmedabad pass out and narrated her experience of her first day at the prestigious institute.

Firstly you have to look at the seating chart outside the class. Once you enter you will find your name assigned to a particular seat. Seats are assigned on the basis of an unknown algorithm.

The first class is usually conducted by the Director Prof. Ashish Nanda. An alumnus of the institute, he is no less than a celebrity there. The students are excited to be in such a coveted place and taught by such an important person.

Class rooms are usually named CR1 or CR9. Find your own classroom beforehand and on the said date enter your classroom wel before time. You will be astonished to find that the class will have already been filled with eager students.

Since I am a student at Walchand Sangli, I can only enlighten you about my college. Here are some details about Walchand Sangli-

  • Academics- The college curriculum aligns with industry standards. The syllabus is updated regularly. The lab facilities are excellent. There is a Mini Central Computing Facility which runs 24*7. The college has a NVidia Excellence lab, and it is supposed to be an IBM Centre of Excellence.
  • Campus- The campus is huge, lush green, and has top infrastructure. The labs are clean, spacious and well equipped. The college has a state of the art library with a large collection of tech books, magazines, journals and non tech books. The classrooms are large, and CS/IT classrooms have wifi facilities. The college study room is spacious and has a large seating capacity.
  • Extracurriculars-  There are multiple clubs and associations- ACSES , SAIT, Rotaract Club of WCE Sangli, PACE and SOFTA. These clubs and societies organize events and competitions throughout the year. The annual college fest- Vision, is also decent. Apart from that, coding competitions and seminars are regularly organized within the campus.
  • Placements- The placements for IT/CS are quite decent. Companies like Amazon, Persistent, TCS, Nvidia, IBM and ZLemma visit the campus to recruit CS/IT students.

Walchand Sangli is a decent choice for your Engineering studies. You should consult some seniors from MIT Pune, MITCOE Pune and VIT Pune to know more about these colleges.
