What is it like doing an MBA from IIT Delhi?

SP
Sona Panday Posted On : April 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (2018)

The MBA program of IIT Delhi is much like that offered at any other B School. Doing an MBA from an engineering college doesn’t make much of a difference but the way you move forward with your degree does. The IIT tag proves to be very beneficial. Some other advantages of an MBA from IIT Delhi are

  • The location of the Institute plays a good role in attracting top recruiters
  • Great exposure and opportunities through industry interactions
  • Provides the perfect environment for learning and growing as a person
  • Top-notch infrastructure
  • Good ROI
  • Great placement scenario with the highest package this year at INR 36.7 LPA and average package at INR 21.9 LPA.

Thus the MBA program offered at DMS IIT Delhi is decent enough to be considered.

Once you end your college life, life is not the same anymore. You end up missing every moment spent whether enjoying or studying for your exams. Once you step into the real world you realize it’s now that the real-life issues begin. I have listed some good and bad things you will experience as an IIM pass out

Good things

  • Your living standards will have been improved because of the high package you received
  • You will have a new circle of friends
  • Many aspirants will look to you for inspiration.

Bad things

  • As an IIM pass-out, you will have to live up to its name and brand. People will expect you to excel in whatever you do.
  • You will be mistaken as arrogant because of your IIM tag
  • High tax payments have to be made
  • You have to repay the educational loans you have taken and sometimes it takes years to do so

Apart from these situations, you might face serious criticism if you give up your job and initiate entrepreneurship.

Which is better, Doon business school or UPES Dehradun for an MBA?

MS
Mohit Sharma Posted On : March 14th, 2023
MBA at UPES, Dehradun (2019)

When considering which school to choose, it's important to compare your options. When it comes to choosing between UPES and other schools, there really is no comparison. UPES is hands down the better option.

If you are looking for a school that provides better internships, certifications, and industry-recognized degrees, then you should definitely consider the College of Management & Economics Studies at UPES. Their MBAs are tailored to specific domains, so you'll be able to focus on what you're truly interested in.

UPES also boasts a placement rate of around 95%, which is a great indicator of the school's success in helping students land jobs after graduation. Students who are serious about their studies have landed positions at top companies like Crisil, KPMG, and Amazon, with salaries that often exceed those offered by IIMs.

While UPES may not be in the same league as top private schools, it is still a better option than schools like ICFAI or DBS. In terms of return on investment, most students will likely find that UPES is a better choice. If you have the funds and are able to clear the entrance procedures, then UPES should be your top choice.

What is better to do: an MBA from London (the University of Greenwich) or an MBA from Amity University, Noida?

KS
Krishanu Suri Posted On : March 1st, 2021
Amity University (2019)

You should go to London. In America, people value Western culture more. A person from IIT when competing with anyone will definitely outshine most of the time. But job applicants from Western companies seem to have a leg up.

You will get a lot of international exposure. You will be having the opportunity to learn, work and share your thoughts. You will be able to learn from the students coming in from all parts of the world.

One needs to learn to be independent as you have to manage studies, part-time jobs, cooking, doing groceries, washing, and everything all by yourself. At the end of the day, if you learn to manage all these things by yourself, you will look at yourself as a confident and independent person.

You will experience some culture shocks as well but at the same time, you will learn also. It’s just a matter of 1-2 years. You should go to the University of Greenwich if finances are not a big problem.

Is Jaipuria College good for an MBA?

KA
Keshav Arora Posted On : June 19th, 2021
PGDM International Business, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow (2016)

Jaipuria Institue of Management (JIM) has 4 branches i.e. Lucknow (oldest), Noida, Jaipur, and Indore. My brother has completed his MBA from the Noida branch hence this answer will be based on his experience for JIM, Noida. Take a look at the pros and cons below to get a gist of the institute.

PROS:

  • Legacy: Noida branch isn’t the oldest but it definitely is the fastest growing branch in terms of recognition in the industry and job prospects.
  • Scholarships: If you have got good marks in 10th, 12th, and great score in MAT/CAT you are eligible for a good amount of scholarship. My brother got Rs 1 lakh of scholarship and his MAT percentile was 99.4.
  • Placements: You can grab decent packages there as compared to its counterpart colleges that fall in the same tier i.e. because of the faculty and the placement team which. Also, my brother was once a part of a training placement coordinator. Recently, he came across the news that Amazon recruited from JIM Noida offering 15 LPA which is awesome.
  • Academics: You might find the schedule to be a bit tough and busy because of numerous assignments, presentations, exams. However, you will realize that they help you develop multitasking skills that will come in handy in the future.
  • Extracurricular: There are ample opportunities for extracurricular activities too and you will be able to balance it well with academics.
  • Hostel: Hostels for both girls and boys are well equipped with all basic necessities and leisure activities. Also, you get spacious rooms!

CONS:

  • Mess Food: The quality and taste of meals are not up to the mark. Students also complain of hygiene issues.
  • Hostel Location: If you are a guy, you’ll get the histel which is situated in a rural area about 3km away from the campus.

Overall, the 2-year tenure of my brother at Jaipuria was great and he doesn’t regret it even a bit. Whichever college you go to, make sure you work hard and keep yourself active for an all-around development.
