It completely depends upon your interests. You should make up your mind about whether you connect with programming or Civil engineering. Choose the branch through which you can work for the field you want to work in.
My cousin has been a student of PEC University Chandigarh, civil engineering branch. According to his experience, apart from a few faculty members, the majority of the teachers don't care much whether the students understand the concepts involved in the curriculum or not. The placements for PEC University are also below average for the department of Civil Engineering. Around 3-4 reputed core companies visit the campus of the University for recruitment purposes.
However, technical, as well as cultural clubs present in the College, are very good and the environment that the college provides is also quite competitive. You will get the opportunity to learn many things both including those concerned with cultural as well as technical fields with the help of these clubs.
Here is a brief comparison of both institutes.
Institute | IIIT Pune | PEC University |
Highest CTC | 36 LPA | 42 LPA |
No of recruiters | 25 | 145 |
Major recruiters | TCS, Deloitte, Infosys, LTI | RBS, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs |
It will be better if you do your own research on the institutes, before making any decisions. There are many websites including the official websites of these colleges which can help you in making an appropriate decision for your career.
I have a friend who went to NIT Durgapur, so I can give you some idea about the Biotechnology branch at the institute, based on what I heard from her.
According to her, Biotechnology at NIT Durgapur does not get much importance as the other branches such as CSE, IT, or ECE. Also, people often tend to look down on the branch.
Here are the recent placement highlights for Biotechnology at NIT Durgapur.
Eligible Students | 28 |
Total Placed | 12 |
Percentage Placed | 42.86 |
Total Job Offered | 13 |
But Biotechnology is all about interest. If you are passionate about the subject, you can definitely do well in your academics. Don’t worry much about placement. If you have the required skills, you will have decent placement opportunities at NIT Durgapur.
One of my cousins used to be a student of Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur. He mentioned that the college has completed 100 years in the year 2020. Let me share some facts about the colleges which I gathered while researching them.
Categories | HBTU Kanpur | IIIT Pune |
Course Fee | 5.17 lakhs | 9.17 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 14 LPA | 11-15 LPA |
Average CTC | 6.4 LPA | 7 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Wipro, Infosys, IBM, Dell, etc. | Amazon, Godrej, Carwale, FinlQ, etc. |
After careful consideration, it is suggested you go for HBTU Kanpur rather than opting for IIIT Pune. Being an older establishment, it possesses the educational experience and popularity among well-known firms and companies.
