It is not difficult to get into NICMAR Pune. You have to generally appear for a written test followed by a personal interview. The personal interview rounds mainly have Technical and HR-related questions. There will be no GD round.

However, the competition for PGP ACM is quite high. If you are fresher with an engineering background and no work experience, then you should analyze these few points:

1. Why choosing NICMAR as there are plenty of other institutes all over the country that offers similar courses with lesser fee structure?
2. Are you ready to invest a sum of INR 12 lacs for the 2-year program?
3. What if you do not get placed.
4. If you are considering an education loan then what is the current interest rate at which a bank offers an education loan.

The average package offered by the companies at NICMAR Pune is around INR 6.5-7 LPA. With this information, you can also check the period of time it will take to pay back the whole loan along with the interest. The in-Hand packages received get lesser after cutting PF, Income tax, Professional Tax, Superannuation, gratuity, Cess, etc.

Any course which is done in an online distance format does not get as much attention as the regular courses do. Therefore, if you are thinking of opting for online distance education from any college, not just NICMAR, and feel that it will turn around your life after your degree, it will not.

But if you need it for an extra certificate or knowledge, you can go ahead as it will be a nice experience. If you have prior work experience, then these courses can help you change your job profiles. It can also help you get promotions. 

If you join NICMAR as a fresher or with experience of 1-2 years, you may get placed with an average package of INR 5 LPA. However, if you have experience of more than 2 years, the average package offered will automatically increase to 6-7 LPA in NICMAR. 

It must be noted that the placement opportunities are also dependent on academic records and fair communication skills. You should be capable in this regard as well. 

You can join NICMAR after BE but as a fresher, you need to work hard to relate the classroom fundas with real-life project conditions and issues.

You will get enough time to do whatever you wish to do at NICMAR Pune. If you do not have any hobbies, you will get bored. You have classes five days a week from 9:10 AM to 1:30 PM mostly. Several workshops are conducted after lunch till 4:30 PM thrice a week.

So, you will get ample free time. There are several things that you can do when you are free. You can sketch, read, watch movies or visit nearby places like Lonavala and if you have a car.

Whenever any company visits for the placement procedure at NICMAR, a notice is sent to all the students through the mail. It consists of all relevant information including the company name, job profile, eligibility, salary offered, job location, etc. Furthermore, a column is given where you can fill the expected salary package.

Any fresher cracking the interview will be offered a salary package of around 7 to 8 LPA whereas an experienced candidate will be given a salary package of around 9 LPA.

Some organizations also have a set CTC that they offer, and you will get paid that amount regardless of your experience.

Out of the five campuses, NICMAR Pune is one of the institutes under the brand name offering PGP courses in construction and management.

• The two-year PGP Infrastructure Finance and Development Management (PGP IFDM) is the most underrated course in the institute. 
• It gives proper exposure to financial concepts related to civil engineering. It also helps to develop techno-managerial leaders. 
• The best part about the course is you may get jobs in the banking sector, which is an impossible task with ACM and PEM courses.
• The batch size of PGP IFDM is only 42 students. It is very little in front of the large batch size of 467 for PGP ACM. 

Overall, the course is great. There are high probabilities for IFDM students to get placed in renowned companies.

In the NICMAR admission process, maximum weightage is carried by NCAT Exam (150 Marks). It has three sections which are as follows:

Preparation Time: 3 Months 

• Quant: R.S Aggarwal or equivalent aptitude books will be best for this section. Some questions are really easy that can be solved in less than a minute. If you want to maximize your score, practice moderate-level questions of other MBA entrance exams. Be thorough with percentages, allegations and mixtures, ratios, time speed, and distance, and like topics as questions are asked from these topics. 
• Data Interpretations: There are multiple books available for Bank PO Exams in which such sets are available. You can just go through them. It is sort of a puzzle so you will have fun doing it.
• Verbal and GK: Reading Comprehension is very easy. Just practice a few comprehension available in any competitive exam book. This section also tests your vocabulary as synonyms and antonyms questions will be based on your vocabulary. GK questions are really easy and you’d have read them somewhere even if you are not a news freak. To sum up, if you read the newspaper daily and practice a few comprehensions, synonym antonym, grammar questions, you are more than ready for this section.

In NCAT, speed matters the most. You should solve the easy questions first. Do not waste your time if you are finding any questions tough. Just move on. Most importantly, you should improve your grade in UG. Participate in competitions and earn certification. Nothing much can be done as what you have done earlier matters here.

During the personal interview, brush up on your basics of civil engineering (concrete and building material especially). The basic HR questions will be asked like why do you want to join NICMAR, what are your long-term goals etc. They also test your speaking skills by giving you a topic to speak on. So, you can also practice it as it will be good for you in the longer run. 

It would not be a good idea to join NICMAR right after the completion of a B.Tech degree. It will be better to join NICMAR after having 2-3 years of work experience. You can easily get a salary package of 5-6 LPA.

The reason NICMAR is so popular among students is to open new opportunities. In the past, profiles in Planning and Contracting have been offered. It will also enhance the chances of promotion after graduating from NICMAR or any higher studies.

However, it is important to talk to the currently studying students or the recent pass-out batch student and know the real situation.
