Is NIT Agartala safe?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

Yes, NIT Agartala is one of the safest colleges in India. The whole campus is highly secured and the campus is residential not only for the students but faculties too. You will find guards roaming around the campus making you feel safe all the time.

The security and care offered to girls is unmatchable. They are required to enter the hostel gate within 6.30 pm and they are expected to keep their whereabouts known. The campus does not tolerate ragging in my form and the seniors are extremely sweet.

NIT Agartala is one of the safest colleges so you can put your worries to rest.

How is the campus life in NIT Agartala?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 18th, 2023

Honestly, the campus life in NIT Agartala is very disappointing especially if you are coming from a good city. It does not have the infrastructure of big private colleges like Amity or LPU. However, I believe college life is more about the people you are surrounded with and not the infrastructure.

It will be a new experience staying in the Northeast and exploring new cultures and traditions. You will be interacting with the locals and also sharing hostels as well as classes with them.

A few students might face discrimination on the basis of region. The campus has a lot to offer in terms of sports. The faculty are very rigid and unapproachable. The gender ratio is also not very good.

Overall, the campus life at NIT Agartala is a blend of good and bad experiences depending on your company.

All three colleges are good engineering colleges and each of them has their unique pros and cons. For instance,

In terms of placements and academics, the preference order would be

  • NIT Silchar>NIT Agartala>Tezpur University

In terms of campus life, the preference order would be

  • Tezpur University>NIT Agartala>NIT Silchar

As a whole, NITs are well known for their excellent placements, brand name, faculty, and elaborate alumni network whereas Tezpur University is known for its widespread beautiful campus, research culture, and extracurricular activities.

So, you can choose the college that meets your expectations of college life.

Which is better NIT Agartala or HBTI?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 18th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

One of my friends dropped out of HBTI only to join NIT Agartala EIE. Later he changed his branch to CSE and claimed it to be the best decision of his life.

  • NIT Agartala has a better brand image and reputation among industries because of the NIT tag and the status of the Institute Of National Importance.
  • It has a more modern and advanced infrastructure than HBTI because it's funded by the central government.
  • HBTI has slightly better faculty but that isn't a big issue because, in the end, you have to study on your own.
  • Hostel life is fun because you make friends from all over the country whereas HBTI is mainly students from UP.
  • You can enjoy a more pleasant climate and lush green surroundings.
  • The placements are obviously better than HBTI given the fact that it's a centrally funded institution.

So, go ahead and choose NIT Agartala without any further hesitation!

TM

B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (2019)

Srinagar is ranked 67th by NIRF in all engineering colleges category. Agartala, situated in the north-east is ranked 70th among engineering colleges by NIRF. JEE Mains is the qualifying exam for both these institutions. The fee structure is also similar and is around 1.40 lakhs as the first-year fees.

NIT Srinagar:

  • CSE and IT branch had 100% placements while all other branches had approximately 70% placement on average.

  • highest CTC package was INR 27 LPA and it was for an IT student. The average CTC package came at around INR 9.5 LPA.

NIT Agartala:

NIT Agartala conducts highly successful placement drives every year.

  • 30+ major MNCs came for the placement drive last year.
  • A total of 188 students got placed in the placement drive conducted in 2019. Other students opted for higher studies.

  • The recruiters consisted of various multinational corporations and domestic heavy-weights like Vedanta, L&T Infotech, Infosys, Future Group, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Ashok Leyland, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Mphasis, Karvy Group, Future Group, Oracle, Havells, etc.

  • Infosys recruited the most number of students with 69 job offers.

    1. highest CTC package was INR 36 LPA and it was for an ECE student. The average CTC package came at around INR 5.5 LPA.

The placement records of both institutions are quite similar. Students are advised to research other factors as well and not just join based on placement stats of a college.

How are placements in ECE at NIT Agartala?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

One of my relatives was once a Training and Placement Coordinator at NIT Agartala in 2019. Since the institute does not release official data on branch-wise placements, we will use the data from 2019 to get an idea of ECE placements at NIT Agartala.

  • The ECE branch recorded a placement percentage of around 94%.
  • Out of the total eligible students, 20% of the students were placed in core and the remaining were placed in IT.
  • The highest package of INR 15 LPA was offered to an MTech student in core while in BTech, the highest package stood at INR 10 LP in IT.
  • The average and lowest salaries were recorded at INR 6.5 LPA and INR 5.5 LPA.
  • Most visiting companies are IT-based so one must be proficient in their respective subjects as well as in coding to bat good packages.
  • A few top recruiters in the past are KPIT, L&T Const, L&T Ltd, Capgemini, Wipro, Accenture, Oracle, Samsung, Synopsis, etc.
  • The packages students receive depend directly on their CGPA so never underestimate it.

Ultimately, ECE is an evergreen branch opening opportunities in both sectors.

In what ways can anyone change their branch after 1st year in NIT Agartala?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

For students willing to change their branch after the first year, NIT Agartala has the provision of the branch slinging policy wherein you need an overall CGPA of about 9 for the first year.

However, before taking this decision always analyze the pros and cons because the branch does not matter much. Rather your determination and skills matter. Look for your real passion instead of running after the top branches. This sheep mentality won’t take you a long way and will rob you of your passions. So even while changing branches, don’t go for the branch with better placements, rather go for the branch where you have more interest.

So, getting a CGPA of above 9 will guarantee you a seat in your desired branch at NIT Agartala.

How is CSE at NIT Agartala, placement-wise? If I get a chance, should I join it?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : September 18th, 2023

The branch of NIT Agartala like any other engineering college is the most coveted branch with maximum placements. Last year's trends show a constant improvement in the statistics. However, you must know that placements depend on your individual skills and profile.

Here are some tips to follow if you want to bag the best packages in your branch

  • Work hard and maintain a CGPA of above 8 because most companies set this as their criteria
  • Work on your coding skills
  • Become tech-savvy and proficient in handling technological issues
  • Spend the 2 months of summer vacation doing a good internship that will add value to your CV. You can intern at a startup recommended by your seniors or even at an IIT.
  • In case you fail to do so, work on creating an open-source profile.
  • Don’t join any club and focus on studying instead.

The above-listed points will help you stand apart from the crowd and make you more employable. So unless you are getting CSE at top IITs, you can always choose NIT Agartala.
