Which is better, NIT Srinagar or NIT Agartala, placement-wise?

Srinagar is ranked 67th by NIRF in all engineering colleges category. Agartala, situated in the north-east is ranked 70th among engineering colleges by NIRF. JEE Mains is the qualifying exam for both these institutions. The fee structure is also similar and is around 1.40 lakhs as the first-year fees.

NIT Srinagar:

  • NIT Srinagar placement cell has consistently managed to invite top companies to their placement drives every year.
  • In the year 2019, more than 240 students from NIT Srinagar were placed in various companies

  • The recruiters consisted of MNCs and domestic giants like Punj Lloyd, DRDO, Power Grid, Wipro, Kirloskar Oils, Tata Motors, NTPC, Patel Engineering, American Insurance, Tata Power, Mu Sigma, etc.

  • CSE and IT branch had 100% placements while all other branches had approximately 70% placement on average.

  • highest CTC package was INR 27 LPA and it was for an IT student. The average CTC package came at around INR 9.5 LPA.

NIT Agartala:

NIT Agartala conducts highly successful placement drives every year.

  • 30+ major MNCs came for the placement drive last year.
  • A total of 188 students got placed in the placement drive conducted in 2019. Other students opted for higher studies.

  • The recruiters consisted of various multinational corporations and domestic heavy-weights like Vedanta, L&T Infotech, Infosys, Future Group, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Ashok Leyland, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Mphasis, Karvy Group, Future Group, Oracle, Havells, etc.

  • Infosys recruited the most number of students with 69 job offers.

  • Almost 90% of students got placed last year with a 100% placement record in CSE & ECE branch.

    1. highest CTC package was INR 36 LPA and it was for an ECE student. The average CTC package came at around INR 5.5 LPA.

The placement records of both institutions are quite similar. Students are advised to research other factors as well and not just join based on placement stats of a college.
