What should be the preference order for the following: NIT Surathkal EEE, NIT Warangal EEE, NIT Trichy EEE, MANIT Bhopal (hometown) EE, MNNIT Allahabad EE, NIT Calicut EE, and MNIT Jaipur EE?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 19th, 2023

For EE/EEE, out of NIT Surathkal, NITW, NIT Trichy, MANIT Bhopal, MNNIT Allahabad, NIT Calicut, and MNIT Jaipur, I would suggest three institutes in the following order of preference-

  1. NIT Surathkal
  2. NIT Trichy
  3. NIT Warangal

My best friend is studying EEE at NITK and he is quite happy with the department. The teachers in the department are a bit strict. But if you bring up a good project idea and stay attentive in their class, you’ll be in a good position. Also, scoring good grades can be a bit tough, but with hardwork and good preparation, you will surely ace your exams.

In terms of EEE placements, NITK, NIT Trichy, and NITW are all equally good options.

As a NITK student, you will get certain benefits. These are-

  1. NITK is the only institute in India to have a private beach.
  2. Among the three institutes that I have listed, NITK is the most suitable for people from other parts of India. Even though there is a 50% state quota, you will find plenty of North Indians and people from other parts of India. You will rarely face a language barrier because most people on campus understand English.
  3. You can showcase your technical skills at the IEEE technical club of NITK.
  4. Technites of ‘Engineer’, the techfest of NITK, does some brilliant work with electronics.

Thus, out of NIT Calicut, NITK, NITW, and all the other options listed by you, I would suggest you to choose NITK Surathkal for your EEE.

I am placing these colleges in a descending order for their B.Tech CS-

  1. NIT Calicut, MNIT Jaipur
  2. NIT Rourkela
  3. VNIT Nagpur
  4. SVNIT Surat

MNIT records good placements for B.Tech CS. Some companies that recruit B.Tech CS students from its campus are- Qualcomm, Infosys, Amazon, Adobe, DE Shaw, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity, Deloitte, Samsung and Bosch.

NITC and MNIT are the best among these colleges, for B.Tech CS. Others are ranked in a descending order of my personal preference.

Which is best: NIT Calicut, NIT Bhopal, NIT Jaipur, or NIT Rourkela?

VN
Vikas Shankar Nayak Posted On : August 27th, 2021
B.Tech computer science from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2020)

Honestly, it totally depends on your choice. If you want as per placement rankings then NIT Calicut surely beats NIT Rourkela which in turn is better than NIT Jaipur and NIT Bhopal. As some of my friends studied at NIT Rourkela, I can assure you that the overall campus is improving very fast. Also they offer good placements.

  • Many famous companies are hiring a lot of students now.
  • If you are seeking a good infrastructure, NIT Rourkela is the best of all NITs.
  • For overall rankings, you can refer to MHRD, National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF).
  • Certain departments at NITR leave a lot to be desired, where Calicut has the edge.
  • All is better than Bhopal and Jaipur in placements though. However, in terms of infrastructure, campus life, hostel life, sports facilities, the overall holistic development of an individual NIT Rourkela is a good option.
Parameters NIT Calicut NIT Bhopal NIT Jaipur NIT Rourkela
Tuition Fee INR 16,000 INR 70,000 INR 1.6 LPA INR 7,500
Placement Percentage 73.5% 82% 73.22% 95%
Average Package INR 11.57 LPA INR 7.56 LPA INR 8.03 LPA INR 8.75

Placements cannot be the only judging factor. Remember that students from the best departments at all these campuses do land up getting good IT jobs with a decent salary package.

I am very confused between these two. Which one should I choose: MNIT Jaipur CSE or IIIT Allahabad IT?

MS
Mohit Singh Posted On : June 30th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2017)

IIIT Allahabad's IT is one of the best in this league. This branch is at par with CS.

Academics:

Academics are given more importance here. From the first semester itself, IIIT Allahabad begins imparting programming knowledge. Subjects such as chemistry and engineering drawing are taught later on as these are considered as less useful subjects.

Coding Culture:

The coding culture is exceptional at IIIT Allahabad. Most of the top-ranked students in competitive programming at present are from IIIT while the number of students from MNIT is few.

Campus:

There is a lot of similarity between the campus and hostels of both the institutions. IIIT Allahabad is younger than MNIT, therefore, has an advanced campus compared to MNIT.

Placements:

The placement opportunities at IIIT Allahabad IT are tremendous and better than MNIT CS. Students at IIIT Allahabad land high package offers.

According to the recent placement statistics the highest and average CTC offered to IIIT A is 43 LPA and 20 LPA. Whereas the highest and average for MNIT is 38 LPA and 8 LPA.

Overall, opting for IIIT Allahabad would be a great decision.

How is MNIT Jaipur for an MBA?

SG
Souvick Gupta Posted On : October 10th, 2023
MNIT Jaipur

Even though I am not an MBA student at MNIT Jaipur, I will try to answer your query.

I have completed three years as a B.Tech student at MNIT. Throughout this time, I never heard much about the MBA program of my college. If its placements were noticeable, we would have definitely heard about them. I have rarely come across MBA students on campus. Unlike MBA, the M.Tech and Phd. courses are well renowned.

MNIT is known for its engineering programs. So, I wouldn’t recommend this college for your management studies. Try to look for those colleges that are known for their management courses.
