The first batch of Electronics and communication batch in IIT Bhubaneswar will pass out in 2020 which is why placement stats are not available. Out of 32 students, 29 students in the mechanical branch got placed in reputed companies with an attractive package in IIT Indore in 2018. The faculties at both the IITs are outstanding. Now, coming to course Electronics courses falls between in the middle of core and software. So, Electronics students get jobs quite easily in the software domain also. ECE students have a wider scope than the mechanical branch. If you compare college then IIT Indore will be the better option than IIT Bhubaneswar but if your interest is in the subject then ECE will be a better choice than mechanical.

IIT Bhubaneswar is renowned in the metallurgical engineering and material science department. It has well qualified and experienced teaching faculty. As IIT Kharagpur is the mentor institute of IIT Bhubaneswar, the coursework follows IIT Kharagpur’s curriculum. IIT Bhubaneswar is located in Odisha's mineral state and provides numerous opportunities for essential experience in fieldwork and job sites. According to 2019 placement highlights, 90% of students from metallurgical engineering and material science department got placed. The average CTC offered was around 11.4 LPA.

Now for IIT Indore, it has gained rapid popularity for its coding community and the quality of the computer science curriculum. This resulted in a step back at the development of other core branches, mainly metallurgical engineering. In 2019 the placement rate at IIT Indore was 99% with an average CTC of 16.06 LPA.

The fact is that there are not many students interested to enroll this field of engineering. This results in a lot of the students opting for electives/optional subjects like coding, data science, etc. and then get placed in a non-core job (not linked with metallurgical engineering).

Based on these above factors, Bhubaneswar is preferred than Indore as it is situated and connected to Steel and Mining Industry and hence provides more job opportunities.

IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Indore both are among the new IITs and IIT Indore is considered best among the 2nd generation IITs in terms of faculties, infrastructure, placements, NIRF ranking, etc. According to the NIRF Ranking of 2020, IIT Indore and IIT Bhubaneswar are placed at 10 and 22 respectively.

IIT Indore’s EE department is considered one of the best departments with a dynamic group of well-experienced professors. The college has various technical clubs including robotics & electrical which help students to get practical experience and good exposure. IIT Bhubaneswar also offers a decent EE program but it lags a little behind in terms of proper infrastructure. The JEE Advanced cutoff for EE at IIT Indore and IIT Bhubaneswar are 1868-4848 and 2276-7542 respectively which indicates more students prefer IIT Indore for EE.

IIT Bhubaneshwar being in a city that is a hub to headquarters of many huge companies like Tata adds up a lot to the institute’s opportunities. The quality of education provided at the institute is also good as the methods of teaching used by the professors are unique and effective.

IIT Indore provides its students with computer science engineering with a fairly good placement rate. In 2019 the placement rate at this IIT was 99% and the average salary package offered was around 16.06 LPA. IIT Indore also provides its students with an amazing number of undergraduate research opportunities as well as foreign collaborations. This institute also has an amazing team of professors, especially the faculty of Computer Science Engineering.

Rest, it is always up to a student’s preference for him/her to choose as both of these institutes have their own benefits to offer.

According to the ranking, faculty, placements, salaries, etc. IIT Indore will be a better choice than IIT Bhubaneswar for civil engineering.

IIT Indore ranks 13th among the engineering colleges in India in NIRF Rankings 2019. The placements in IIT Indore is 99% with maximum offers for CSE and IT departments. Companies like Tata Motors, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, Deloitte, etc. Companies participating in IIT Indore offer its civil engineering students an average salary package of 16 lakhs per annum. In 2018, the salary package in IIT Indore rose to 18 lakhs per annum and the highest being 43 lakhs per annum.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs established in 2008. The institute collaborates with foreign universities such as University of Warwick, University of Southampton, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Western Ontario, University of New York, University of North Dakota USA, and McGill University. Placements in IIT Bhubaneswar is 89% in Civil Engineering. IIT Bhubaneswar students were offered 11 lakhs per annum and the highest being 39 lakhs per annum. The top recruiters include WIPRO, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Samsung, Microsoft, Deloitte, Amazon, Adobe, TATA Steel, TATA Advanced Systems, Thermax, TETCOS, L&T Construction, L&T Ltd.,

IIT Bhubaneswar is ranked in the 22nd position by 2020 NIRF Ranking. The department offers different laboratories like Concrete Technology lab, Environmental lab, Geotechnical Lab, Survey Lab, etc. which are well equipped with modern instruments. The department of civil engineering also organizes industrial tours in order to make the students understand the on-site applications of civil engineering. In the academic year 2019, 89% of the students were placed from the civil engineering department and the overall placement record was 90% across all streams. The average package offered in the institution was 15-16 lakh p.a. and most job offers were received from the core industries like HPCL, IOCL, Oil India Limited, ISRO, etc. Companies also offer internships to third-year students.

The mechanical department in the institute has better interaction between faculties and students, as the department has younger faculty. The laboratory here is also fully equipped. IIT Indore provides a central workshop, solid mechanics and fluid mechanics lab, and many more facilities to mechanical engineering students.
