A friend of mine used to be a student of NIT Bhopal and I can give you some insights based on his experiences.
Apart from all these pros and cons, you will get ample time to prepare for competitive exams like CAT, UPSC, GMAT, GRE, etc.
The enrolled candidates are eligible to apply for summer internships in various fields at NIT Trichy, Calicut and Warangal. My cousin was selected for a summer internship last year.
The faculty members at these institutions always are on the lookout to collaborate with the students for research activities and this is why the applications for internships are always appreciated. You can contact the concerned authority at your institution for more details or you can visit the official website of your college.
One of my friends was a student of NIT Calicut and a relative of mine is an alumnus of the College of Engineering Trivandrum. So the answer will be a comparison of their experiences.

CET students also get a lot of freedom as NIT students. They get ample time to do whatever they want.
NIT Calicut is a great option for pursuing Architecture. The department has excellent faculty members. Most of the professors are well-experienced. You can get their help regarding any academic problems you may face during your course.
NIT Calicut placements are decent for Architecture. L&T is one of the major recruiters that visit the campus placement frequently.
MHRD ranks colleges on the basis of various aspects besides academics. One of them is infrastructure. Unfortunately, NIT Calicut has a poor infrastructure in comparison to other engineering colleges. Weak administrative measures are to blame for this. The college authorities are not utilizing the funds provided by the central government to the fullest extent.
We can only hope that the infrastructure and other facilities at NIT Calicut improve. If this happens, the rankings of NITC will also improve.
NIT Calicut is far better than Hyderabad Central University. At the university, you will find most of the students from nearby states whereas NIT has a multicultural atmosphere with students coming from every corner of the country.
The climate is also very soothing in Calicut that will help you to grow and study. NIT Calicut has well-qualified faculty members providing quality education. Not only education but it will also help in your overall development and to lead a better life ahead.
The placements of NIT Calicut are also very decent. According to the recent placement statistics of following data can be tabulated:
Particulars | NIT Calicut Placements |
Total students placed | 714 |
Top recruiters | Deloitte, TATA Group, Intel |
Highest package | INR 43.31 LPA |
Average package | INR 11 LPA |
Last but not least we can say that choosing NIT Calicut is a better option over Hyderabad Central University due to its diversity in various fields.
The process of selecting a suitable branch in a decent college after the JEE counseling process is pretty hectic and important. And the ideal way of going through all this process is realizing and following your interest.
The criteria for selecting a college should be based on the following.
One of the best things at any NIT is that you will get to interact with the best brains in the country. All the faculties at NIT are well qualified.
I have a few from NIT Jamshedpur so I can give you some ideas about the institute.
Pros of NIT Jamshedpur:
Lastly, I will advise that don’t choose an institute based on ranking, as ranking tends to change frequently.
My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-
NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
Well, the answer is, it is completely depended on the branch that the student selects. However, the students' board examination and caste percentage also matter a lot in this regard.
Thereby, the actual thing is that if the student is from the OBC category and has 92% in the previous board examination, then only 160 marks are just enough to get right of entry in any decent branch, including Civil, EEE, Mech etc. but, if the student wants to get admission in CSE or ECE, then he or she has to score 180-190, at the minimum.
In the following previous year, cut-off (2020) is listed so that the student could find it beneficial.

However, a student can easily explore as well as predict what colleges shall be available on the basis of his or her JEE Mains ranks. If a student scores at least 200+ in the JEE Main, then there is a chance to get a good stream in a good institute.
