How strict is TAPMI?

SG
Sanjeev Ghosh Posted On : March 20th, 2023
Studied Post Graduate Diploma in Management at T. A. Pai Management Institute

If you're considering attending TAPMI, there are some rules and regulations you should be aware of. Here's what you need to know:

  • In the past, a 100% attendance record was required, and you couldn't take night-outs or skip classes without a medical certificate from KMC, Manipal. However, the attendance rule has been relaxed, and you can take night outs if you get permission from the warden. If you need to miss class due to illness, you can submit a medical certificate from the in-house nurse.
  • There are still some strict rules that you need to follow. You must be inside the campus by 11.30 PM every day unless you have taken a night out. Smoking and drinking on campus are not allowed, and you must be on time for your classes.
  • To be promoted to the second year, you must maintain a minimum of 4.4 CGPA.
  • While all this might seem intimidating, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun. The campus celebrates all major Indian festivals, and there are lots of DJ nights, sports competitions, committee parties, class parties, and FAS group parties to enjoy. Plus, there are section wars and a great friend circle to help you get through the two years.

GIM or TAPMI: Which one is better for marketing and why?

RS
Rajendra Sharma Posted On : March 5th, 2022
MBA Marketing & Finance, Goa Institute of Management (2016)

GIM is definitely better for Marketing specialization due to factors like location, small batch size, and past records.

Here are the salary highlights of 2021 for Marketing -

  • GIM Average Package - INR 11.11 LPA
  • GIM Highest Package - INR 21.34 LPA

Also, GIM alumni can be found in top marketing companies across the globe.

Other than great placements, GIM is known for its Marketing curriculum. They offer the best case-based theoretical solutions. The visiting faculties at GIM are well-known across the country. Some of them have industry experience of over 10 years. You won’t find the tips and tricks they share about practical marketing in any book.

How good is the TAPMI MBA? How are the placements there?

HT

In my opinion, University of Dubai is recognized by the AASCB, but it doesn't have a campus because it's still being built (Dubai Academic City), and there's no clear information about its placement rates.

Aside from this, another important thing to think about is ROI. According to what I know, if someone gets a job that pays AED8,000 but doesn't cover housing and food, it will take at least three years for the money to pay off.

Another factor is Dubai Visa Regulations. If you can stay there for a long time, I think it all depends on the company that pays for your visa. I asked a few of my friends who work in Dubai, and they said it's good if the job comes with housing and food. Lastly, I would suggest that you think about the things I've described above before signing up for the course.

How is TAPMI Management Institute in Manipal for doing a MBA from India for someone with 2.5 years of IT experience?

Well, it also depends on what your other options are. So I can't tell you if you should choose TAPMI.

But it's worth it if you can handle high academic rigour (which I assume is the case at every top b school) and can stay on campus for two years without going home often.

Here, you can expect a beautiful site, a well-thought-out programme, good job placements, and a quiet last 4-5 months of your MBA. TAPMI is known for placing most of its students in IT jobs, so if you come from an IT background, you have an advantage over your peers.

I've got two options, TAPMI PGDM and IRMA PRM. What should I choose?

AS
Alka Singh Posted On : March 9th, 2023

When deciding on an MBA program, it's important to consider your interests and career goals. If you have an inclination towards rural management, then IRMA would be an excellent choice for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a general MBA degree and specific profiles post-MBA, then TAPMI may be the better option.

If rural management is your area of interest, then IRMA should be at the top of your list. IRMA has a strong reputation for its rural management program and provides excellent opportunities for students interested in the field. On the other hand, if you're looking for a broader MBA degree and want to explore different profiles, then TAPMI may be a better fit.

When it comes to post-MBA profiles, TAPMI provides a variety of specializations to choose from, including finance, marketing, human resources, and operations. This means that you can choose a specialization that aligns with your interests and career goals. Additionally, TAPMI has a strong reputation in the industry and attracts many top recruiters, which can enhance your job opportunities post-MBA.

Ultimately, the decision between IRMA and TAPMI will depend on your individual interests and career aspirations. Make sure to research each program thoroughly and weigh the pros and cons of each before making a final decision.

Which one should I choose: TAPMI, FORE, or LBSIM?

SR
Simpal Rai Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MCom from Indira Gandhi National Open University

Honestly speaking, TAPMI, FORE, and LBSIM are very similar in terms of curriculum. Many of my friends have completed PGDM from FORE and TAPMI. Even the comp ones that visit the campus for placements are very similar and not much comparison can be done between the 2 B Schools. The placements report too will reveal a similar list of companies visiting. Some minor differences between these B Schools are

  • TAPMI is a residential campus unlike FORE and therefore has an upper hand in this aspect. You can spend more time on group research and assignments.
  • FORE has a locational advantage compared to TAPMI as it is located in the capital city whereas TAPMI is situated on the Konkan Coast.

Recruiters consider all top 2 B Schools in the same league. What matters more than your B School choice is what you plan to do from your PGDM course.
