Which school should I choose, BITS Pilani Goa campus or IIT Gandhinagar?
There are the following points that you need to keep in mind while choosing between BITS Pilani Goa campus and IIT Gandhinagar:
- Choose your branch. When making this decision, it is crucial to consider what branch you want to pursue. Talk to people who have done CS or Electrical Engineering and gather information about both fields.
- Decide between IIT and BITS. BITS has a good alumni network, and its CS package is higher than IIT GN's Electrical Engineering package. However, IIT has a better brand value, especially if you plan to pursue higher education or move to the United States. If you want to go to the USA, choose IIT. If you plan to stay in India, BITS Goa is well recognized, and placements in CS are better at BITS than at IIT GN.
- Chill out! If you are undecided about your future plans or your choice of college, don't worry too much about it. Choose a place where you can enjoy your B.Tech life. If you want to have fun, BITS Goa is the better option as it is located in Goa.
Is BITS, Goa comparable to DTU and NSIT or other top NITs?
BITS Goa is better than DTU and NSIT. Since the introduction of the home state quota, the quality of the student crowd has drooped down at these institutes. Due to the no reservation rule, BITS has a better peer group. Top NITs such as NIT T, NIT W, and NIT K are comparably better than BITS, but the difference margin is decreasing.
BITS Goa placements have been good, even during COVID. During 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 16 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 43.3 LPA. Some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive are Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Flipkart, etc.
Should I prefer NIT Surat CS or BITS Goa EEE or CS?
There are several reasons why BITS Pilani Goa Campus CS is considered better than NIT Surat CS. Here are some of the main reasons:
- Better Infrastructure: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a world-class infrastructure with modern facilities and amenities that provide students with a comfortable and conducive learning environment. On the other hand, NIT Surat's infrastructure, though decent, is not as advanced as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Alumni Network: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a vast and active alumni network that provides students with excellent networking opportunities and career guidance. NIT Surat's alumni network, while present, is not as well-established or connected as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Tag: BITS Pilani Goa Campus is a highly reputed and well-known institution in India and around the world. It is recognized for its academic excellence and has a strong brand value. In comparison, NIT Surat is not as well-known or recognized as BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Teachers: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has some of the best faculty members in the country who are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated to teaching. NIT Surat's faculty, while competent, is not as well-regarded as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- Better Coding Culture: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strong coding culture, with numerous coding clubs, events, and hackathons that encourage students to develop their coding skills and innovate. NIT Surat, while also promoting coding, does not have as vibrant a coding culture as that of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
- No Ragging: BITS Pilani Goa Campus has a strict anti-ragging policy, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all students. In contrast, NIT Surat has had some cases of ragging in the past.
- Better Co-Curriculars and Extra-Curriculars: BITS Pilani Goa Campus offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including sports, cultural events, and technical clubs. NIT Surat also offers such activities, but the range and quality of these activities are not as good as those offered by BITS Pilani Goa Campus.

What is life like for BITS-Goa students?
Every young mind would light up hearing Goa and most of the parents are delusional to send their children to Goa. However, it totally depends on the individual to dodge the culture, activities and on the bright side, the administration is really strict regarding it.
Some of my friends studied at BITS Goa, and according to them if you learn to balance your priorities, it can be a great place of learning for you. There are a lot of places to enjoy but it is not necessary to attend everywhere and every time.
- The campus is really beautiful and has beaches nearby.
- The weather is absolutely fantastic
- Hostel facilities provide single rooms to all the students.
- Zero percent attendance rule.
- Amazing cultural events and fests like WAVES, QUARK, and SPREE take place.
- Peer-to-peer file-sharing system up to 100TB and the speed is around 50MBPS.

What should I choose: Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani Goa Campus, Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal?
To make an informed decision, it's crucial to understand that changing your choice based on the college you get into won't have much impact. You should acknowledge that Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani Goa Campus and Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal are two distinct engineering streams with different colleges, and both colleges are excellent in their own right.
Your selection of the branch should entirely depend on your interest. If you are intrigued by electrical or electronic circuits or have been fascinated by electricity since childhood, EEE is the perfect fit for you. Conversely, if you have an interest in instruments or daily life gadgets that make our lives more comfortable, you should opt for E&I.
Keep in mind that EEE focuses on circuit design and development, while E&I focuses on circuit implementation in industries or the real world. EEE is a core branch that concentrates on its domain, but E&I combines all other core branches such as Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, and even Computer Science.
Both EEE and E&I offer excellent job prospects in the market. E&I graduates can work in core fields or software industries. There is a plethora of industries related to electrical and electronics, so EEE also offers ample job opportunities. Therefore, both branches are exceptional in their way. Choose the one that piques your interest and don't sacrifice your area of interest due to college selection.
How is an MSc in physics at BITS Goa?
BITS is known worldwide these days for its academic culture and its off-the-charts placements. According to some of my friends studying there, M.Sc courses are some of the best courses available in BITS and all its branches.
- M.Sc is excellent at BITS Goa and they offer lots of job and research opportunities.
- With the tag of BITS, it will be very easy for students to pursue their further studies such as Ph.D., Hons. from top universities across the globe.
- The academic knowledge and exposure they would receive from the course in BITS Goa are really valuable.
- BITS Goa has an excellent team of Physics and professionals in their line of the field.
- If topics such as quantum physics, quantum mechanics, waves, and black holes spark your interest then M.Sc. in physics would be a very good option for you.
- BITS is also known for having world-class labs that are equipped with the latest and high-tech tools for the betterment of the students.
- BITS Goa has collaborations and tie-ups with some of the leading institutes of the world and students get a chance in foreign students exchange programs.
M.Sc in physics, chemistry, or Maths won’t certainly give you the placement you wish for but it will still be good. Placements in M.Sc PCMB are great when the student gets CSE as the engineering branch in the next few years. Also, M.Sc in Economics is very good when it comes to placements and does not depend on the branch you will be getting in the 2nd year based on your CGPA.
Which is better for mechanical engineering - the NIT in Calicut or BITS Goa?
If you are fine with the higher fee structure of BITS Goa, then it will be a better choice for you. The infrastructure of both colleges is similar to each other but the alumni network is better at BITS Goa compared to NIT Calicut.
But if you are interested in mechanical engineering and want to pursue it as your passion, then you should probably choose NIT Calicut. The placement records of the Mechanical department in core companies are better at NIT Calicut. The average package offered is also higher than BITS Goa. Many students opt for jobs in non-core companies especially in the IT sector from BITS Goa and they learn coding too during their graduation.
If you are looking for a job related straight to what you have studied, then choose NIT Calicut. However, if you have a plan to go for higher education, probably abroad, then BITS Goa will be a better choice. Its alumni network will also help you a lot in securing a job in a reputed company.
How can I score 8.5 CGPA in BITS Goa?
Attending all your classes regularly is important for your success in your classes. Regularly revising what you have learned and trying to stay ahead of your lectures can also help. You may find it helpful to watch NPTEL videos on the course material and thoroughly read the course book. Additionally, solving numerical problems and reading the slides can enhance your understanding of the concepts.
Remember that no course is easy, so putting in the necessary effort to comprehend the material is crucial. Submitting all your assignments and homework on time is important for maintaining a good academic record. Be sure to get enough sleep before your classes and avoid sleeping during lectures.

Which is a better option for EEE, NIT Trichy, or BITS Goa?
You will find that both NIT TRICHY and BITS Goa are excellent colleges for EEE, and they can be rated on par based on the following parameters:
- Teaching quality
- Infrastructure
- Labs
- Campus Interviews
- Academic Rigour
- Hostels
- Technical and Cultural Festivals
- Campus Life
- Peer groups
- Mess food
If you have a financial constraint, you may find it beneficial to join NIT TRICHY since their fees are less than half of BITS.
Alternatively, if you value having a flexible timetable where you get to choose your own professors, or if you prefer the concept of zero attendance policy, BITS may be a better fit for you.
Keep in mind that BITS does not have a reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC.
What is bad about BITS Goa?
One of my friends had been a student of BITS Goa and his experience wasn’t that good. He mentioned a few points that can give you a clear picture of the institute and other things related to it.
- It’s common to find an average or below-average faculty at engineering colleges. This is the same with BITS Goa, the faculties aren’t preferably good.
- Moreover, the college fees are really high and the quality of education isn’t appropriate.
- The labs of the colleges aren’t well-maintained and are out of date.
- The outdated syllabus of colleges is the story of every college either in the normal program or the research program.
- The grades provided to the students aren’t up to the mark. Hence, it’s very disappointing.
- As the humidity in Goa is at its par, the students expect a good connection of electricity so that they can bear with the weather. But it’s common to not have electricity most often and it becomes quite difficult for the students.
- The Air conditioning in the classes only works sometimes and there are no fans in the classrooms.
- The library of the college has its set time to open and close. Similarly, the medical shops open and close only according to the time set by the university. Whereas, they allow extra hours when the exams are approaching.
- Although, in other colleges, the students are allowed to access the library and other facilities 24x7.
Therefore, the experience at a prominent college isn't the same for everyone. BITS Goa has a lot to improve when it comes to the facilities and academics.
