What are the facilities in the VNIT Nagpur campus?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : November 20th, 2023

VNIT Nagpur, like other NITs, is an Institute of National Importance.

It is located in Nagpur, so you can easily access all the basic facilities from there. But as far as campus facilities are concerned, they are very poor.

Both the college canteens available for Engineering students are kept in an unhygienic condition. Only a few of the menu items are actually available, and this is the situation at all times. A single playground is available for all the college students. So during inter-NIT practices, one can not possibly play one’s favorite sports over there.

The Badminton and TT courts however, are quite well developed. Other than that, the college campus is well maintained and covered in greenery. The Health Center within the campus is open for students, without any extra charges. An ambulance is also provided by the college in the health center. The maintenance fee for the center is included within the college fee.

In spite of the various shortcomings, you’ll enjoy your time at VNIT, especially the hostel life.

Except IBS Hyderabad, which IBS campus is good?

CP
Chinmay Paradkar Posted On : February 16th, 2023
BBA Economics and Finance & Marketing and Business Strategy, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (2019)

ICFAI or IBS has around 10 campuses all over India. IBS Hyderabad is the main and oldest campus and therefore has the best reputation. It’s highly coveted among IBS aspirants as it offers a kind of diversity that cannot be availed at any other branch. The companies that visit are from diverse sectors. Some of the major firms include JPMC, Moody’s, S&P, DE Shaw, BoFA, United Group, Big 4s, Cogni, and TCS. These companies help you kickstart your career in a variety of sectors.

Other than Hyderabad it’s the Mumbai campus that steals the limelight. The faculty is very good and the placement scenario is also not much different from Hyderabad.

  • If you want to pursue a career in Finance so go for IBS Mumbai
  • If you want to pursue a career in Marketing or in HR then go for IBS Pune or IBS Bangalore
  • If you want more companies in every field then IBS Gurgaon is best as its average free package is more than almost all IBS colleges except Hyderabad

I hope I have conveyed my point clearly.

What is life like for a fresher at IIT Madras?

RM
Ritika Mukharjee Posted On : March 31st, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM)

As a fresher at IIT Madras, you can prepare yourself for a lot of surprises and unusual things like monkeys and blackbucks on campus. My sister was a fresher in Engineering Design and spent the best time of her life at IIT Madras making new friends from different cultures and managing to share a room with a stranger. She felt a sense of freedom never experienced before which made her all the more responsible.

Once the classes began, everything was set in motion from waking up early, grabbing a quick breakfast, and running to your classes. The professors were particularly strict regarding punctuality. The academic system of grading, teaching, and flow of the course is unique and well-structured.

Most of your free time will be spent in club performances, team orientations, and themed cultural and technical fest shows and events. The entire experience is unique as you get to explore things you were unaware of. Your days will be packed with tremendous activities to do, watching events, visiting places, and availing every opportunity that knocked on your doorstep.

Extracurricular activities are promoted through freshie nights and Marathi music events where students sing and dance to their fullest. IIT Madras coursework is unique and teaches you things covering a broad spectrum ranging from coding to math to physics to visualization to even sketching and drawing.

Life at IIT Madras will change you as a person, make you humble and broaden your horizons. Every day will be a new learning experience with new opportunities. You will leave the campus with a heavy heart and baggage full of memories, life lessons, experiences, and friendships.

How is it like being at FMS Delhi? Would you trade your life with someone studying in top IIMs A B or C?

GY
Gaurav Yadav Posted On : January 10th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2002)

In comparison to the IIMs, FMS retains the advantages of small batch size and a fee structure that is relatively low. The small batch size simplifies placements significantly. With the exception of a few foreign consultancies, most of the top companies that visit the IIMs also visit FMS. Despite all of the university's bureaucracy, etc., there is a well-established alumni network that still ensures that things work out for the current batches.

Because of the small batch size, people are extremely competitive. This was in stark contrast to what you hear about the IIMs. Even though they have competition but they maintain some semblance of sanity due to the large batch. FMS can be difficult to manage at times, both in obvious behaviours and subtle actions by people you study with.

The culture at FMS is influenced by the culture of Delhi. In comparison, IIMs are unquestionably more cosmopolitan. Unless you have prior exposure, adjusting to a new environment can be difficult for people from very different cultures, such as the South or East. Otherwise, you'll have to learn to adjust the hard way. But it's still worth the effort. The people you meet in both locations are of the highest calibre. It is up to you to make the best of the situation.

Even if given the chance, there's no way one would like to trade places with the IIMs.

How good or bad is NIT Jalandhar in terms of study, culture, research and placements?

KM
Kanika Mehrotra Posted On : December 5th, 2022
Studied Electronics and Communication Engineering at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar ( NITJ )

I am here to tell you how good or bad NIT Jalandhar is based on the parameters you mentioned.

Study: At NIT Jalandhar, the study does not really depend on professors. You will have to retort to self-study. The professors are either too busy or just read out bookish knowledge. So in this term NIT Jalandhar is average.

Culture: The culture at NIT Jalandhar is excellent. Ragging is banned and seniors are very supportive. Hostel facilities are also pretty good. Besides this, the college hosts 2 events every year. There is TechNiTi which is a technical fest and Utkansh which is a cultural fest.

Research: The research scenarios at NIT Jalandhar are very lacking. The professors don’t pay emphasis on research at all. They just focus on teaching the topics that will be covered in the theoretical exam. However recently some professors have started helping B.Tech. students write research papers.

Placements: Generally NIT Jalandhar offers good placement opportunities. The CSE, ECE, ICE, MECH branches get 100% placement rates. But the same has decreased for Textile, BioTech, civil, chemical and are decreasing since 2015.

KGMU vs JIPMER, which is better overall in terms of academics, hostels and campus life?

SS
Shridhar Sriraman Posted On : September 30th, 2023
Lives in Pondicherry, Puducherry, India

Here is some information about both these colleges to help you make a better decision-

  1. JIPMER is the AIIMS of South. It has a better academic culture. Everything, from peer groups to labs, is top-notch over there. Both the colleges have decent hostels.
  2. JIPMER has a bit more exciting campus life. But KGMU makes up for this with its festive celebrations.
  3. JIPMER puts great emphasis on student research, so student learning is supposedly better. The internships are immensely rigorous over there.
  4. Lucknow serves really good chicken meals. At KGMU, you’ll get good non veg meals. People from the North face food and language barriers at JIPMER, but they adapt eventually.

Based on this information, I would say that JIPMER is overall better. However, even KGMU is a really good choice for your medical studies.

What is the quality of accommodation and mess food at IIT Hyderabad?

SG
Sachin Gupta Posted On : May 16th, 2023

No matter what delicacies you are offered in the hostel mess, nothing can be compared to home-cooked meals. So, it's better to lower your standards when it comes to mess food served at IIT Hyderabad. If you find the mess food unsatisfactory you can always go to canteens and get yourself your favorite food. You will be glad to know that food is sold at subsidized prices at these canteens.

IIT Hyderabad has decent accommodation facilities and all permanent students are made to stay on the permanent campus while interns and other temporary students will have to stay on the temporary campus (Ordnance Factory) The commute between the accommodation and the main campus might be tiring given the weather conditions and the huge distance.

Does IIM Indore provide food for South Indians in their mess?

AS
Akshay Sirsalewala Posted On : January 4th, 2023
PGPM from Indian Institute of Management Indore (Graduated 2022)

IIM-I does not have a specific south Indian menu. However, the regular mess menu offers a variety of south Indian dishes like

  • Rasam
  • Dosa
  • Idli
  • Vada

The best part is that there are boundaries in the quantity you want to take. On specific occasions like Onam, a special South Indian dinner is organized.

A typical breakfast on a Sunday morning is one of the best with sandwiches, Dosa, eggs, and fruits.

What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at RGPV?

RG
Rakesh Gupta, Posted On : October 28th, 2021
BE from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal (2017)

As one of my friends who studied at RGPV, I might be able to answer your question. Let me share his experience during his first year. This will give you a clear idea.

  • The RGPV examination can be tackled in many ways.
  • Reading Shivani (Questions bank) will get you through them easily.
  • Connections matter, so create your own network by interacting with both your classmates and faculty members.
  • Try to work hard on your weaker points, be it communication skills, aptitude, general knowledge, etc.
  • Use the time to groom yourself, so you can be confident.
  • Concentrate on your future goals. Work on achieving them as fast as you can.
  • If working in the corporate industry is your aim, join some in-house organizations or clubs to gain some experience.

It is recommended to work hard, study harder, as these four years will shape your career. If you want to get into the IT industry, then start with data structures & algorithms. If you want to do an MBA, get started with CAT preparations. If you want to do MS from a foreign University, get started with GRE. Also do enjoy your college life, as it will shape you as an individual.
