How's ECE at NIT Kurukshetra?

SR
Sumit Roy Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

The ECE department at NIT Kurukshetra is average and not at par with NIT standards so go for it only if you are genuinely interested in the branch. Here are some strong reasons why I oppose joining this branch

  • The classroom sessions are boring and only a few exceptional professors are even interested in teaching
  • The workload is challenging and so is the curriculum. You will have to study really hard to maintain a good CGPA, something that directly affects your placements. It will be even more difficult if you lack interest in the branch.
  • The placement scenario is also nothing you will be looking forward to. Only a handful of companies come for ECE students. The majority of the batch will be placed in IT companies, and for this, you will have to study extra CS subjects. The competition is overwhelming and you will feel drained.

The detailed placement statistics of the ECE branch at NIT Kurukshetra have been tabulated below:

Eligible Students

84.68

Range of Package

INR 6.02 LPA -INR 50.59 LPA

Median CTC

So don’t go for ECE unless you are genuinely interested in it or you are committed to hard work for 4 long years.

What score (in MICAT) is need to get a GE & PI call from MICA?

AM
Aritri Mukharjee Posted On : April 25th, 2023
studied at MICA, Ahmedabad

MICA, also known as Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, offers its flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C) program. Admission to the program is a two-step process consisting of the following:

  1. MICAT: MICA Admission Test
  2. GE & PI: Group Exercise and Personal Interview

To receive a GE & PI call from MICA, you need to secure a minimum qualifying score in MICAT. The cutoff score for MICAT varies every year, and it depends on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the available seats. However, based on the previous years' cut-off, you can expect the minimum score required to get a GE & PI call from MICA to be around 45-50 marks out of 105 marks.

It's important to note that getting a GE & PI call doesn't guarantee admission to the program. The final selection is based on your overall performance in the MICAT, GE, and PI, along with your academic record, work experience, and extracurricular activities. Therefore, it's advisable to prepare well for the exam and give your best in the selection process to increase your chances of getting admission to the program.

Which college should I select between Vasavi College of Engineering and VNR Vignana Jyothi College of Engineering?

NS
Neeraj Shroff Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studied at Vasavi College of Engineering (2020)

Vasavi College of Engineering is better. It has better faculty than VNR Vignana Jyothi College of Engineering and that the record of placements of the former is also superior. According to 2021 placement highlights, the highest and lowest CTC offered at Vasavi are 21 LPA and 3.5 LPA respectively.

Vasavi boasts of having a good library and classes for exclusive employability are also conducted here. The faculty is also very supportive and experienced.

The cons of being a Vasavi College of Engineering, however, are as follows.

  • There is not much availability of freedom at Vasavi.
  • No availability of wifi for the students.
  • The campus is small.
  • VNR provides more opportunities in sports.

Both colleges have their share of advantages and disadvantages, but overall Vasavi is the better option.

What is the selection process for XLRI like?

DK
Deepika Kunwar Posted On : May 29th, 2021

The selection process of XLRI is not that difficult. Let me explain it simply, sharing one of my friend’s experiences. His selection procedure went something like this -

Firstly, two papers will be taken in the XAT which is the same for everyone. Paper 1 includes sections like -Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability (QA), and Data Interpretation (DI). Paper 2 includes sections like - General Knowledge and Essay Writing.

Once the exam is done, the next question that arises is how much do you need for XLRI. The sectional cut-off is 95-96 percentile. Check the following table for a detailed cut off:

Sections

HRM Cut off

BM Cut off

Verbal

90

90

DM

80

80

QA

70

90

Next, for GDPI, you will get the topic and will be asked to start building a structure. All you have to do is give a clear, concise but excellent contribution.

The Interview experience can be different for everyone –

  • There is a generic question about your work, studies, etc., a reason to choose HR/BM, your interests.
  • Did you read the newspaper today? Your general awareness of the world, and current trends.
  • And finally the most important question, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years.

These are some of the questions that can be asked. Other than that your work, studies, projects, participation, training, skills, etc. will also be discussed.

How good is chemical engineering in NIT Jalandhar?

PT
Pihu Tiwari Posted On : March 30th, 2021
Studied Civil Engineering at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar

The chemical engineering department in NIT Jalandhar is considered to be average, based on the faculty and availability of proper lab equipment. I know little about the Chemical Engineering department at NIT Jalandhar since one of my friends goes there.

The table below gives a brief overview of the chemical engineering department of NIT Jalandhar.

Total Fees (B.Tech Chemical Engineering)

Rs. 6.76 Lakhs

Median Salary Offered

Rs. 6 LPA

Total number of seats (Chemical Engineering)

90

JEE Main cut-off (Chemical Engineering)

37702

Chemical Engineering:

There are some good faculties in the chemical engineering department, but very little lab equipment and proper experimental facilities available. Don’t opt for this branch if you have other alternatives.

If you have already taken admission for chemical engineering at NIT Jalandhar, it is up to you to make the best of your degree. A steady self-study routine can help with that.

Although in the past some alumni of the institute have successfully secured good GATE ranks. So there is a decent option for PSUs and M.Tech.

All in all, if you are determined and utilize your time well at the institute, you can definitely have good career prospects.

How was your IIT Kanpur's MBA interview experience?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : April 19th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

One of my friends had a great MBA interview experience at IIT Kanpur. She had a completely different and exhilarating experience which was nothing like what was going on there. In fact, the students being interviewed before she had been evaluated on the basis of their knowledge of Engineering that too from the 1st year. Almost everyone had no idea because around 6 years had passed and everyone had forgotten even the basic concepts let alone the questions they were being asked.

Before entering the interview room she was very scared and clueless. She found herself in a small room with 2 male panelists.

  • The first panelist asked her about her most exciting aspect to which she told them about the book she was writing. They sounded curious and ended up hearing the entire plot.
  • Next, she was asked if she liked traveling to which she told them about her dream destination being Iceland and how she had already traveled throughout India.
  • They further asked her about her family and why she did not prefer IIM Lucknow despite being close to her home.

The interview ended on a friendly note and she left the room with a light heart. Surprisingly enough, she was able to convert.

TC
Tulika Chatterjee Posted On : September 9th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Vignan University (2020)

Some of my friends are students at Vignan University. According to them, it was quite satisfying, the overall performance of this institute. They mentioned some facts about the college, which might give you a clear idea about it.

  • The main attraction of colleges is their infrastructure, as it is quite good.
  • Moreover, the seminar halls are well constructed and the hostels are well maintained and hygienic.
  • This university enrolls the students in both Management and Technical courses.
  • Moreover, the timings of both the programs are different.
  • The college for both the programs begins at the same time i.e. 8 AM.
  • For the students of management, their classes end at 1 PM and for B.Tech students, the classes end at around 3:30 PM.
  • The lecturers are also quite cooperative and are good to the students. Also, they are available for students at least 3 to 4 times a week.
  • Moreover, the students aren’t restricted to do anything outside the classroom, they are free to sit on the campus near the beautiful nature.
  • The most appreciated thing in hostels is the mess, the food is so delicious than any other colleges’ mess.
  • The food quality and quantity is really good, like the IITs. The food definitely won't disappoint you.

A total number of 1540 students got placed this year in prominent companies such as CS, Concentrix, FACE, Westline, Aliens Group, CTS, Infosys, Teleperformance.

Categories Vignan University
Course Fee 10.6 lakh
Placement Percentage 80%
Highest CTC 25 LPA
Average CTC 11 LPA
Lowest CTC 4 LPA

Finally it can be said that the college is suitable for students who are eager to learn and build themselves up. Recently, this college constructed a research hall for 110 crores and that was quite helpful for all of the students involved in research work.

Yes, IIIT Lucknow has a better package for CS and IT students than IIIT Allahabad and IIIT H. However, it will not give you a guarantee that you will get placed after completing your studies from IIIT Lucknow.

The following table will show you the placement record of IIIT Lucknow.

Category

IIIT-Lucknow

Recruiters

Google, Adobe, Accenture, Amazon, HCL, IBM, LinkedIn, Expedia, Wipro, Microsoft, Samsung, Vassar Labs, NYKAA, Directi

Highest Salary

INR 43 LPA

Average Salary

INR 18.42 LPA

IIIT Lucknow has been established over many years, and is one of the oldest campuses of IITs. The Lucknow campus is from one of the top 5 campuses of IIT and probably the best one. It grew fast as compared to any other institutes

The average salary offered to IIIT Lucknow students is INR 18.42 LPA, while the highest package goes to INR 43 LPA. The Median package is INR 15 LPA, and the minimum package offered is INR 10 LPA.
