What score should an Indian engineer get on the CAT to get into NITIE?

PS
Pushkar Sen Posted On : August 13th, 2021
MBA Operations, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

NITIE considers CAT cut-offs for admission into its two courses: PGDIM and PGDISEM. The cut-off changes every year depending upon the difficulty level of the CAT examination. But, an average cut-off as per the past trends is below.

Category PGDIM CAT Percentile PGDISEM CAT Percentile
General 97 86
OBC 75 75
SC/ST 65 75
PwD 75 65

The above percentiles are enough to fetch a call for the GDPI process of the final selection. But it does not guarantee admission as it also depends upon other factors like work experience, past academics, extra-curricular, gender diversity, and others.

Overall, the score should be high in CAT, as it is one of the important factors for admission.

What are the chances of selection to nitie mumbai with gate score 714 in ee?

MC

Studied at NITIE

NITIE Mumbai offers admission to its PGDIM and PGDISEM programs through the GATE exam. The selection process at NITIE Mumbai takes into account several factors such as GATE score, academic performance, work experience, and performance in the selection rounds (GD, PI, and WAT).

The GATE score is the primary factor that is considered for shortlisting candidates for the selection rounds. However, the cutoff GATE score for admission to NITIE Mumbai varies from year to year and also depends on the number of applicants and the availability of seats.

Based on previous year trends, a GATE score of 714 in Electrical Engineering (EE) is a good score, and you may have a decent chance of getting shortlisted for the selection rounds at NITIE Mumbai. However, admission to NITIE Mumbai is highly competitive, and several other factors will also be taken into consideration during the selection process.

It's also important to note that the selection process at NITIE Mumbai is dynamic, and the cutoff scores may vary from year to year. Therefore, it's best to keep an eye on the official website of NITIE Mumbai and stay updated on the admission process.

What score is required for Civil engineer for NITIE Mumbai in GATE? Also historically how many students of civil engineering backgrounds are there in Pgdie and Pgdpm?

AG

M.Tech IIT Bombay (2019)

I think I can give you some information regarding this as I have friends who graduated from NITIE.

Approximately a score of around 700 + in the GATE examination for the general category can get you a call for the interview rounds of NITIE. The total number of seats available for Civil Engineering students through GATE, PGDIE-144 & PGDPM-44, is 188.

However, it is a bit difficult to answer your second question, but if you fulfill the eligibility criteria and prepare well, you will have a fair and equal chance of getting through the interview rounds which are GD & PI. In NITIE Mumbai the maximum number of students are from the mechanical/ production branch and then Civil, CSE, and ECE branches.

NITIE does not disclose the shortlisting or selection criteria. You have to do well and have good scores to get through.

How hard did I work to get NITIE?

BT
Bhavya Taneja Posted On : August 18th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

Before talking about NITIE, you should focus more on the exams required for admission to the institute: CAT or GATE.

Aim for high scores in the exam you are appearing to get shortlisted not just from NITIE but from other good or even better institutions. Find the previous year's cut-off for the shortlist and target that. To be honest there is not much difference between the cut-offs and getting very high scores.

NITIE 2021 Cut off

Category CAT Cutoff (PGDIM) CAT Cutoff (PGDIE)
General 97 86
OBC 75 75
SC/ST 65 75
PwD 75 65

Once you are shortlisted, prepare well for the GD and PI rounds, groom yourself, improve your presentation skills, and put on a confident smile to get through these rounds.

You should study hard for gaining the maximum score that you can achieve.

Would it be a good decision of leaving PSU (NTPC) for NITIE though I joined last year only?

SR
Sampriti Roy Posted On : August 16th, 2021
PGDMM from NITIE (2020)

One of my relatives has been working with NTPC for the last 36 years and he advises against it. According to him, it will not be a good decision to leave NTPC to pursue a course at NITIE. But if you want to pursue a career in management you can go for NITIE. On completion of your course, you will get salary packages similar to NTPC.

NTPC is one of the sought-after PSUs and can be the best place to work. But it also depends on your interests. If you want to go into Management work and feel trapped with PSU, then you can surely join NITIE.

In my opinion, NITIE Mumbai is among the best B schools in India where you can learn and perform activities practically. The institution offers industrial exposure and a decent learning environment.

  • If you have experience of 2 years then still it would be a good option.
  • NITIE is popular among student communities for the 100% placement it offers.
  • Many major multinational companies visit the campus of the institute for recruitment purposes to recruit students for job roles in the consultancy sector, FMCG sector, manufacturing sector, etc.
  • NITIE is famous globally and also gets popularly referred to as "Mecca of Supply Chain".
  • It would surely be beneficial for you if you make a career in any of the above-mentioned fields.
  • The campus is unique. It is surrounded by two lakes and the campus also has a water pond. It is also full of greenery and has an extremely clean and hygienic environment.
  • The institute has two hostels.
  • One is Gilbreth hall and the second one is Taylor Hall (for boys), which is a building having 16 floors.

Their hostel is the biggest hostel being used for an educational institution in India. This factor along with the location of the institution makes it unique. My brother is a graduate of the institute and his experience was pretty good as a student of the institute.

What was your GATE score and how did you get into NITIE?

AS
Ankur Srivastava Posted On : August 20th, 2021

The GATE score to get admission in NITIE is not a topic to disclose publicly but for an idea, a student from the general category got admission in the NITIE Mumbai.

He has attained an IE in the first round. The cut-off back then was around 760+.

Now a student with the above data can calculate his/her chances of getting admission to the Institute. It's better to set a target according to last year's cut-off and prepare accordingly.
