How are all the law schools ranked including NLUs, NLU D, ILS, Symbiosis, GLC, etc.? What one should prefer over the others?

DS
Devesh Shukla Posted On : June 22nd, 2021
B.A.LL.B. (Honors) from National Law University, Delhi

My cousin used to be a student of NLU Delhi and he admires his institute a lot.

He puts NLU Delhi in first place followed by NLSIU Bangalore. Next comes NALSAR Hyderabad which is followed by NUJS Kolkata.

What follows the institutes mentioned above are the other NLUs. My cousin did not rank the institutions because there is little difference that sets them apart. These NLUs are chosen on the basis of where the applicants live, what city they want to live in, and the subjects being offered by the institute. Some of the well-known NLUs are NLIU Bhopal, NLU Jodhpur, HNLU Chhattisgarh. The lesser knows NLUs are NLU Patna and NLU Orissa.

It is accepted generally that private colleges are followed by the NLUs because the latter has a course structure that is uniform. The fees are not that much and there are benefits as well. In addition to that, they also enjoy support from the government.

The institutes that are not private and/or not NLU and are generally considered good are Amity, University of Delhi, GLC, Symbiosis, etc. There are also other institutes like IP University, Jamia Milia Islamia, Indian Law Institute, etc.

How is Rayat Bahra University in Mohali for law?

AR
Aditya Rao Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Studied BBA LLB at Rayat Bahra University, Mohali 2019

There are several reasons why you should not take admission to Rayat Bahra University, Mohali.

  1. One of them is its placement. The jobs offered are in the BPO sector or telephonic. Surprisingly, they lack any core placement. The students of the university are not highly satisfied with the placement records they commonly have to go through.
  2. The packages usually ranged from 2 LPA to 3 LPA. Mainly, the university lacks the crucial commodities required for law students. Amenities such as courtrooms or trial rooms are commonly not seen at Rayat Bahra University, Mohali, making it one of the biggest downsides.
  3. Other than that, there is allegedly no professionalism. The department of law usually does not conduct expert sessions, webinars, seminars, or workshops for students.
  4. It is alleged that the faculties are usually not paid their salaries often for about a period of 6 months.
  5. The syllabus or the curriculum commonly followed by the university is not up to the Industrial Standards and students generally get affected due to most of it.

It is suggested that you keep pace with the latest updates regarding the Rayat Bahra University and analyze for yourself.

Can I get admission in a law college at Mumbai without appearing for CET exam?

SD
Susmita Das Posted On : February 10th, 2022
lives in Mumbai

Yes, it’s possible to get admission to a law college in Mumbai without taking any entrance examination. There are several law colleges in Mumbai that offer admission to 3-year LLB degrees based on merit only. Here are a few such colleges.

  • Government Law College, Mumbai - GLC releases a cutoff list each year for its LLB admission. If you have the required cutoff, you can apply. Admission is based on merit only.
  • Balaji Law College, Pune - For the LLB degree, you need to have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university. The prerequisite for this course is 45% in graduation.
  • ILS Law College, Pune - The eligibility requirement for their LLB course is graduation in any discipline with at least 45% marks.

Most law schools in India offer 5-year BA LLB degrees. To pursue it, you need to appear in CLAT after your 12th. Whereas for an LLB, you need to complete your graduation. Though in terms of job opportunities, there is no such difference between the two degrees.
