How is the PGDM dual country program in the IMT Ghaziabad?

RJ
Ritu Jain Posted On : July 31st, 2021
Studied at Amity University (2019)

You will be surprised to know that PGDM Dual Country (DCP) and regular PGDM courses are similar with the only difference being that PGDM DC would let you have your 1st year in Dubai. My sister recently completed her DC course, and here are some of the similarities and differences between both the courses you need to know before opting for this course:

  • For both DCP and PGDM, the subjects are the same however the books differ by being global and Indian editions respectively.
  • In DCP, you have to take the initiative for projects, competitions, and events individually. Whereas, in PGDM, you will get assisted by committees.
  • The infrastructure of IMT Ghaziabad is brilliant and offers better and unique campus life, however, the fees are also a lot.
  • You will see almost no difference in placements of either course as they are conducted in Ghaziabad in the 2nd year.
  • There is also no difference in the selection process for the interviews.
  • Finding a summer placement while belonging to DCP might be challenging.

All in all, DCP is arguably a good course for business enthusiasts. However, every great thing comes with a cost. This course is a bit expensive. If you feel that placements are the ultimate goal for you, pursuing regular PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad would do. But if you see your scope in global business and budget is not a constraint for you, go for DCP without a second thought.

  • SRCC GBO provides you the best faculty when it comes to academics.
  • SRCC GBO gives you the proper corporate exposure. These are done through webinars, corporate guest lectures, workshops, alumni sessions, industrial visits, and internship opportunities.
  • Students with an overall good academic performance get a job offer from a reputed company with an average salary package of INR 10-12 LPA.

Therefore, it is recommended that GBO at SRCC is worth joining and has good future prospects.

Do XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also?

GS
Gargi Sinha Posted On : October 1st, 2022
PGDHRM from Xavier School of Management

Yes, XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also. According to recent statistics, around 15% of students from HRM get placement opportunities in consulting firms. But most of these consulting jobs offered were either from Big4 or niche HR Consulting firms such as Mercer, Hewitt, Hay, etc. No sales/marketing roles are offered at XLRI. Management Trainee program is the only way to achieve a successful sales stint.

Will people be eligible to apply for PGDM BM at XLRI, Jamshedpur if one has secured less than 50% in their graduation?

SP
Sania Paul Posted On : May 25th, 2021
studied MBA from XLRI

Having friends at XLRI, I can only suggest you keep in mind these few facts if you're passionate about getting into any high-quality B-School.

  • Understand that people at B-Schools care about your marks very seriously.
  • The competition level at any B-School would be so intense that the panel would not just consider people with a great academic background. They would take a month/year's work experience into consideration, too.

The status that XLRI or any great B-School carries would not be put at risk by admitting candidates who do not have a quality academic background. You have to at least maintain a minimum of the criteria that these institutes demand.

  • Recruiters that approach these reputed B-Schools for placements belong to different firms. For instance- Finance (Citibank, SoftBank, Goldman Sachs Group); Consulting (PWC, BCG, McKenzie); Marketing (P&G, Nestlé, HUL), and others.
  • These companies check the candidate's academic background.
  • The minimum percentage level they take into consideration for shortlisting is 60% at the graduation level. If your score is beyond that and you have been a university topper, it would be a plus.

Because of the reputation factor, FMS/XLRI/SPJIMR, etc. would not put their reputation at stake by admitting students with a poor academic background. Therefore, instead of focusing on that, it will be wise to focus and perform well in other exams like - MICAT, NMAT, SNAP, IIFT, CAT, XAT so that you can get a call from any one of the top 20 B-Schools of India.

Despite a 50% score in your graduation, you still think about getting into a reputed institute like XLRI. This shows how much faith you carry in yourself.

What was your IMI Delhi PGDM interview experience like?

AM
Aniket Mishra Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
Studied at Goa Institute of Management

I have written about the interview experience of my sister who appeared for the same last year.

She reached the venue and had registration and a brief introduction about IMI by a Sir.

After the introduction, the candidates were allotted a topic for WAT. She got the ‘current USP of the market: offers more for less'. She wrote well including points related to competition, and technology reach, and gave examples of Reliance Jio.

Next, they had document verification and were given the serial number for the interview. She was ushered into a room with 2 panelists, a lady and a man in their 50s. The panelists seemed friendly and asked her what the other candidates told her about them. After a friendly exchange, they enquired about her work. She was also asked to justify her low marks in class 12 to which she confidently replied that she was busy preparing for IIT JEE. They asked her about the things she liked to do in her leisure time and her passions. When she told them that one of them was cycling, they asked her about the biggest Cycle race. They asked a few more questions related to cycling to which she had nearly no answers.

The topic soon switched to pities and they asked her about Maharashtra and Delhi CM and the controversies related to the Delhi CM. This too could not be answered by her.

They further asked her about her home state and related questions. Her extempore topic was ‘What Narendra Modi can do to stop engineers going for MBA to support his Make in India.’ She spoke about how investments can be made from foreign investors and the process of initiating a startup should become easier to promote entrepreneurship.

Lastly, she was asked about the other offers she had and if she was considering them or not and why so. She ended the interview by stating viable reasons as to why she was determined to join IMI Delhi only.
