Certainly, pursuing a career in Human Resources (HR) is a great option for individuals interested in this field. There are several top-notch colleges in India that offer specializations in HR and among them, SCMHRD is considered to be the best. This college is well recognized and respected in the industry, particularly for its HR stream. It is also rated among the top 20 B-schools in India and enjoys a high reputation in the corporate world.
SCMHRD is a hub of opportunities, attracting several top-notch companies from various industries including conglomerates, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), consultancy, and information technology. These companies come to the campus to offer a wide range of roles and packages to students. As a result, students are exposed to diverse opportunities and can choose the one that suits their interests and career aspirations the best.
Before making a decision, it is advisable to evaluate all your options based on the majors you want to pursue and the opportunities that are available to you. It is essential to take into consideration factors such as your interests, skills, and goals before making a final decision. With the right approach and mindset, SCMHRD can provide a solid foundation for your career in HR and help you achieve your professional goals.
For PGP HRM, IIM Indore is a great option. The curriculum is at par with reputed HRM B-Schools such as XLRI. Besides traditional classroom teaching, you will get to learn through workshops, certifications, and guest lectures. Students get real-time industrial exposure through summer internships.
IIM Indore placements are pretty good for PGP HRM. More than 20 recruiters participated in the PGP-HRM placements 2022. The average CTC offered by the recruiters was INR 20 LPA.
When it comes to HR specialization, XLRI has emerged as one of the top-ranked institutions.
Candidates who graduate from this campus should expect to land high-paying positions with outstanding benefits. Many of the major multinational corporations participate in the placement and choose the best candidates from the campus.
Here is a brief overview of the placement highlights for the recent years at XLRI.

I have a friend at XLRI. According to him, placement at XLRI depends upon the following few criteria.

Major Recruiters:
Top recruiters at XLRI include Boston consulting group, Hindustan Unilever, Accenture strategy, and Microsoft, offering roles majorly in consulting, BFSI, Sales, and marketing.
Profiles Offered:
If your niche is Human Resources, there are various job roles including HR business partner, Change Agent, HdR generalist, HR consultant. You could even consider moving into general management roles if the company is willing to offer that role to HRM students.
In the worst-case scenario, if you fail to get placed at your dream company, the alumni network of XLRI is strong enough for you to fetch new opportunities.
Yes, XLRI HRM students get placed in general consulting roles also. According to recent statistics, around 15% of students from HRM get placement opportunities in consulting firms. But most of these consulting jobs offered were either from Big4 or niche HR Consulting firms such as Mercer, Hewitt, Hay, etc. No sales/marketing roles are offered at XLRI. Management Trainee program is the only way to achieve a successful sales stint.
Having friends in both institutions, I suggest you to go NMIMS Mumbai. XIMB HR has recently switched their name from XIMB to XaHR. This cost them a lot in terms of placements. All of the companies, instead of reaching out to XIMB are showing up at NMIMS Mumbai boosting their demand day by day.
If I were to compare both the colleges based on certain parameters, I would say:

Some of my friends who were on the wait-list of XIMB decided to switch to NMIMS eventually. And some of them withdrew their names from the wait-list just to reach other colleges (these were in the lower-tier) but not XIMB. Even the students who are already studying at XIMB advise others to not reach there.
For preparing XLRI, HRM interview, you need to have a good command of the current budget-related issues. This could be done by reading the newspaper thoroughly and be up to date with the current affairs as they are the most predictable topics to be asked by the interviewer.
From the bachelor’s degree, select any two subjects of your interest and prepare them well. Try to improve the communication skills, be a good listener and a proactive person. Opt for coaching like CL for better guidance. Learn how to think analytically and logically and don’t rush to answers.
These are some points that you should keep in mind for the XLRI HRM interview.
A dream company depends upon your choice and where your interest lies. Typically, HR Consulting, IR, Manufacturing, or Line HR Roles are more popular.
Despite this, some students may be more interested in joining startups and building systems from scratch than in joining existing companies.
Although choosing a course just based on placement records is not a good idea, there are some insights you must know before deciding.
All in all, placements won't secure your future in any way if you choose a field where you aren’t interested.
If you compare the two institutes purely based on brand value, location, batch strength, etc. then it is clear that NMIMS Mumbai is the better institute. XIMB Bhubaneswar was a much better institute before, but it has lost its old charm now and has been clearly overtaken by NMIMS Mumbai.
This could be due to the placements on which the students did not concentrate well enough or the institute did not change the course structure according to the market demand or simply that the location and other advantages got NMIMS to a better spot. This is not to say that XIMB Bhubaneswar is bad, in fact, it is better than many other private B-schools, but it has lost itself to NMIMS Mumbai.
Now comparing the two courses, the MBA in Business Management (MBA - BM) from XIMB Bhubaneswar is the core program of the institute with the option of pursuing specializations in operations, marketing, and HR after first year. The HR program in NMIMS Mumbai grooms the students to be future HRs from day one.

As it can be seen, XIMB BM does provide a better average CTC to its students than the NMIMS HR. But the difference is negligible and considering the brand reputation, location and other things such as future growth potential, NMIMS HR is a better choice of the two purely in terms of placement perspective as it is the dominant decision-maker for many students. However, if you are not interested in HR and want to go for other specializations, then XIMB BM is your only choice and is not bad either.
