SurekhaNICMAR has a lot of two-year courses. My brother pursued the Advanced Construction management (PGP-ACM) program at NICMAR. So here's an overview of the same:
In the second year, placements will begin and elective subjects based on real estate and infrastructure will make their appearance. You will have a choice based on the sector chosen. Here you may choose electives that are easy and add value to your degree and resume in turn.
You will also learn how to work with software lab, which includes MS Project, Primavera, Candy, etc. These will be spread over the span of two years. There'll be a lot of fun and learning so relax and learn as you go.
The placements for the QSCM course at NICMAR are quite less. As of 2019, a total of 24 companies visited and out of 225 students only 40 students were placed. There was a criterion that is set by nearly all the companies that the students need to have at least 60 percent marks in class 10th, 12th, and engineering.
Also, it has been seen that due to the high intake of students, the package is reduced too much lower than before. In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was 6.75 LPA.
Overall, the placements for QSCM at NICMAR are not so impressive.
The PGP HSEM (Health, Safety & Environment Management) course is a one-year full-time residential program. The curriculum is centered around the industry's needs. But Indian companies do not adhere to the standards and need to be updated. This course will cater the benefits in future when a company is restructuring.
Most of the reputed companies have started embracing safety measures in their operations. So, the placement statistics are approximately 80% for HSEM. The companies like Tata Projects, L&T, and more. Overall, there are ample opportunities.
My brother recently graduated from NICMAR Hyderabad and here is his insight regarding this. If you look at the return on investment, QSCM is a better course than the two-year full-time course. Yet, there is no guarantee that you will end up with a job.
And this applies to all of the courses. You need to have a good academic score in your previous certificates, a good NICMAR score, and good communication skills.
The course is well defined and structured as per the industry requirements. The placements depend upon your caliber and you get a ton of opportunities according to that. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered at the institute is 12 LPA. Some of the major recruiting companies at the institute are KPMG, L&T, HDFC, etc.
Usually, 70% of the students are placed in the first 3 days at NICMAR Pune for ACM (Advance Construction Management) and PEM (Project Engineering Management) programs. The rest of the branch also get job offers eventually but the package depends on the level of expertise and skills you have.
Other campuses at NICMAR are a bit new and they are not as famous as the Pune branch. They don't get that much attention from companies as reputed and well-recognized branches like ACM and PEM at Pune receive.
For the 2020 batch, NICMAR observed an average salary package of 6.75 Lakhs. A total of 99.2% of students got placed with reputed companies including ITC, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, etc.
NICMAR is not a traditional university with traditional courses. Other than engineering, each course contains subjects from a variety of fields. Students at NICMAR are trained to be techno-managers, whereas GATE can place you in an engineering college to pursue an M.Tech, limiting your field to engineering.
If you only want to pursue core engineering aspects and a degree, GATE is the way to go. If you want to broaden your horizons, NICMAR is an excellent choice.
NICMAR also offers decent placement opportunities. In the 2020 placement drive, the average CTC offered was 6 LPA.
NICMAR is a good and reputed college with a stellar placement record. The 2018-2020 batch had over 90% placement percentage with more than 120 companies visiting the NICMAR (Pune) Campus for recruitment.
Mostly, the companies tend to offer similar packages for ACM as well as PEM. However, what does make a difference to it is the prior work experience of the candidates. So, it has got more to do with the individual capability than the branch, where higher salary placements are concerned.
Placement Opportunities:
Do consider all your options before making a final choice. However, on the feedback received from some of the alumni of the institute, I would recommend you for Advanced Construction Management rather than Project Engineering and Management.
I have a few friends from NICMAR. Here is their insight on how to do well in NCAT (NICMAR Admission Test).
The difficulty level of the exam is not that hard. Try to perform well in the personal interview as your selection will mostly depend on that.
According to the reviews online, basically, the facilities that the hostel of NICMAR provides are innumerable.
Last but not least we can conclude that NICMAR provides all the facilities in the hostel that are needed to live there easily and try to make the hostel the second home of the students so that they can make their college as well as hostel life memorable.
If you really want to pursue a career in the Technical field then it will be suggested to go with M.Tech as you might get ended up in some renowned structural engineer. You can also pursue any other subject as well if you are interested.
This will open an opportunity in doing a lectureship in college. By doing so, you can further pursue Ph.D.
It would be highly suggested to go with GATE only if you are getting into top IITs and NITs as it will make an impact on future references.
Apart from this, if your interest area is in Civil engineering but in a different domain, then go for NICMAR as it will open the option for accounting, marketing, business development, contracts, planning, valuation, execution, etc. By doing so, you might as well end up as a successful corporate or entrepreneur.
