There are plenty of things to consider before you should apply to any college, and all of the major points are majorly check-marked by VJTI college. Through proper training, adequate practical exposure, and theoretical knowledge, VJTI makes a case for being one of the best educational institutes out there. In an exciting and upcoming industry like Textile, a VJTI degree can help you open many professional doors.
Overall, I would suggest you to go with VJTI as it offers quality education at an affordable rate from dedicated faculties. VJTI also has a strong record of placements as it calls top companies for computer engineering students every year.
Both MANIT Bhopal and VJTI Mumbai are AICTE approved institutes for engineering. For mechanical engineering, students can compare the fee structure for the program, eligibility as well as placements and curriculum offered at each college for mechanical engineering. The following points listed below highlight these aspects for both institutes:
Fee structure and eligibility:
The table below provides information for B. Tech in mechanical engineering at both colleges:
College | Fee structure (first year fees) | Eligibility |
VJTI Mumbai | INR 84,051 | 10+2 with 50% MHCET |
MANIT Bhopal | INR 64,939 | 10+2 with 75% and JEE Main |

Finally, when it boils down to making a choice between the two, students can make a choice depending on location and their placement preferences, in which case VJTI tops MANIT.
For VJTI’s CS department, you are required to be in the top 150 students in CET. Alongside those, the IT cutoff as seen in a specific year was around the ranking of 325. These as mentioned are for a general female or male candidate.
The candidates who are to appear must however have scored more than 50% in 10 + 2 examinations from a recognized board of education. The Selection Criteria will be Entrance Based (MHT - CET).
As far as the closing rank of KJ Somaiya is concerned, then for CS, it was considered to be around 3500 and for IT, the closing rank was known to be somewhere ranging between and around 6500. Besides, the rank mentioned latter is for non-minority candidates.
But, if you are anyhow a Gujrati minority, then being selected in the institute is not much of a hassle. For the department of CS, the cutoff was ranged to be around the ranking of 7000, and similarly, for IT, it was around the ranking of 14000.
From sometime in a particular year, KJ Somaiya is expected to initiate its own University. And it can drastically alter the above mentioned numbers and disproportionate it in any specific manner. Besides, it also is supposed to conduct its own entrance exam in sometime or might also have initiated, the notice of which will be denoted in the college section area.

While placement statistics are decent enough, students can also aim to improve their CV for boosting their chances of bagging a job at an organization of their choice.
All three universities, RVCE, PES and VJTI are premier colleges offering various courses at different levels. According to my experience, I would consider going for VJTI for its legacy and rigorous engineering education.
It is one of the best engineering colleges in Maharashtra with strong industry connections ensuring that students are exposed to the latest advancements and opportunities in the industry. VJTI’s faculty is known for their academics and research, helping students to excel in their academics.
VJTI students are placed in top companies and receive lucrative packages. Students can also explore intensive research and internship opportunities through the strong connections that the college holds.
I have a few friends at VJTI and they are not happy with the Electrical Engineering program offered by the institute. Here are some of the things that they mentioned about the institute.
Considering the above disadvantages of VJTI, ECE at IIIT Nagpur is a much better choice for students. Here is a brief overview of the ECE course at IIIT Nagpur.

I would suggest you go with VJTI CS as it will be a better choice in the long run. Computer science is in demand with the number of job openings increasing every day in the country. VJTI’s computer science program is famous in the country and is known for its curriculum with a dedicated emphasis on practical learning. The college has a dedicated faculty pool and most of them are also engaged in research. VJTI's location also benefits it to a thriving industry ecosystem, providing students with ample opportunities for research, internships and industry collaborations.
Placement is another factor in which VJTI is better according to me. In 2024, A total of 401 BTech students were placed with the highest package secured by a BTech Computer Science student which stood at INR 57 LPA. The average package for the BTech Computer Science branch was INR 20 LPA.
VJTI Mumbai's E&TC program saw a 97% placement rate in 2019 and COEP's Department of Instrumentation and Control has a placement rate of 85% - 90% in general. Students at COEP get opportunities of working with PSUs like HPCL or BPCL. The highest package has gone up to INR 37 LPA.
The table below highlights the two programs as well:
Parameters | VJTI (E&TC) | COEP (Instrumentation) |
Placement Percentage | 97 | 85-90 |
Campus size | 16 acres | 36 acres |
Total seats | 60 | 30 |

Average Package | INR 4.5 LPA | INR 6 LPA |
Admission: Students will be considered for VJTI Admissions and COEP Admissions if they have 50-55% marks in 10+2 and graduation; and MAH-CET/GATE score, as per requirement.

You may have confused SPIT (Sardar Patel Institute of Technology) with SPCE (Sardar Patel College of Engineering). SPIT is not an autonomous institute. The courses offered in SPIT are Computers, IT, Electronics, and Electronics and Telecom.
Deciding Factors:
If you are looking for any particular program, then you should narrow down your choice of college based on courses. If you are more college-driven then you should go through the following points to make the right decision.
VJTI:
Considering all the factors, VJTI is the best option.
The placement statistics of recent years at VJTI are as follows.
Average CTC |
6.8 LPA |
Highest CTC |
27 LPA |
Academics and co-curricular do not depend on the institute only. It is what you make of it. VJTI is the best choice as it provides a good network and exposure.
Preference Order:
The preference order of the institutes other than VJTI is as follows.
If you get admission to VJTI you should definitely opt for it. You should consider what course you are choosing and research about the facilities and placements. For example, CS at SPIT has better placement than ME at VJTI or any of the other colleges mentioned here.
Also, autonomous colleges have better administration in MU. They have a better examination schedule, quick result release and you will have higher chances of securing a good CGPA.
