How is production engineering at NIT Agartala?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 18th, 2023

My uncle is an alumnus of NIT Agartala Production Engineering and never once regretted choosing the branch. While most of the students were after branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, etc.

He chose the least preferred, Production Engineering. He claimed that if you want to go for higher studies or secure jobs through GATE then the branch doesn’t really matter. Moreover, most campus jobs are from IT companies so the branch does not matter but your skills do. If you have already chosen Production Engineering, then wait patiently because the results will be great.

From my uncle's batch, many students moved on to pursue successful careers. A few of them have been listed below

  • Lakshmi Soren joined NTPC on campus
  • Dipankar Narah joined BHEL through GATE
  • Prasenjit Chanda joined Tata Steel after post-graduating from IIT Roorkee
  • Rashmi Dhar joined Tata Auto Comp System on Campus
  • Ratul Bhaduri and Kashyap joined Tata Motors

Additionally, many others joined IT industries like Virtusa, Polaris, Capgemini, and Cognizant while some joined as professors in different universities after pursuing Mtech or PhD from good universities.

So the conclusion is, that there are a plethora of opportunities and options you are exposed to even in the Production Engineering branch of NIT Agartala.

How is NIT Agartala CSE? Why is it so underrated?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : September 18th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

One of my cousins recently completed his BTech in CSE from NIT Agartala so I have a slight idea about the branch. Many big brands as well as startups visit the campus to recruit students. Students receive internship opportunities both in and outside India. Moreover, many projects were published at conferences in the areas of Machine learning and Natural Language Processing.

NIT Agartala CSE has churned out many successful engineers. Now coming to your question, the reason NIT Agartala is underrated is because of a lack of communication and a preconceived notion that a North-east NIT wouldn't be good enough. The truth is it’s CSE department is facilitated really well and the labs are equipped with modern instruments. The crowd is also very diverse and the overall learning experience is unmatched.

So, it’s better not to degrade any institute based on false notions.

Should I join NIT Agartala or go for any private university?

Namrata Das Posted On : September 18th, 2023

Choosing between NIT Agartala and a private university depends mainly on two factors, the branch you are getting at NIT and obviously your financial situation.

One needs to be financially strong if one wants to join private colleges. Moreover, not every private college is good and most of them have a poor crowd that got in by paying huge amounts. The most credible ones are BITS Pilani, BIT Meshra, VIT Vellor and VIT Bhopal. Unless you are getting these colleges, it’s better to join NIT Agartala.

If you have financial constraints or want to get the NIT tag, then NIT Agartala is a much better choice. However, the placements of some branches are really bad here so you can also upgrade your branch after your 1st year to CSE or ECE.

Ultimately, the decision will depend on your personal preferences and financial condition.

What is the average package for CSE at NIT Agartala?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

NIT Agartala does not release official statements of branch-wise statistics so it's difficult to produce data on the same. However, I asked a few friends regarding the CSE placements at NIT Agartala. Based on what I heard from them, the placements are decent. Almost 100% of students were placed in 2022 and the average package is INR 13–14 LPA. The highest package was recorded at around INR 53 LPA while the lowest package was INR 8.5 LPA.

Many top companies visit the campus for recruitment and the institute has an active training and placement cell that offers assistance to the students in securing internships and placements.

Hope this helps you!

Why don’t people prefer NIT Agartala?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 18th, 2023

My brother is a B. Tech final year student and after having a good discussion on this topic, I think I am the right person to answer your question. There are many reasons why students don't keep NIT Agartala as their first preference

  • While evaluating and comparing colleges, students look at the official rankings to get an idea. Unfortunately, NIT Agartala has a very low ranking. It was ranked 91 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023 by NIRF.
  • NIT Agartala has a deteriorating infrastructure affecting the quality of campus life. There is a shortage of department buildings, labs, libraries, etc. Most of the departments don't have proper labs and equipment affecting the learning experience.
  • NIT Agartala has a substandard study and teaching process . The majority of the faculties are underqualified and their teachings are useless. They don’t focus on the technical concepts at all and just deliver bookish knowledge. There is no proper teaching process or any kind of laboratory work
  • There is a lot of politics on the NIT Agartala campus. Most qualified students fail to achieve things while below average students excel because of politics. This affects the quality of education.

How I made my point clear!

Which is better VIT OR NIT AGARTALA?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 18th, 2023

One of my friends has completed his BTech from NIT Agartala and MTech from VIT. He shared his detailed experience and claimed both to be excellent engineering colleges

Pros of VIT

  1. You get to interact with a diverse crowd from around the world. This enhances the overall experience and your English speaking.
  2. You get better opportunities to join student clubs for extracurricular activities.
  3. To ensure better training, extra coaching classes are provided for 1 month before the placement session starts.
  4. The classroom sessions conducted are smart which is not the case in NIT Agartala which still lacks modern facilities.

Pros of NIT Agartala

  1. The course fee is much less at NIT Agartala as compared to VIT.
  2. Most students receive merit stipends from the Government.
  3. Students pursuing MTech or PhD from NIT Agartala get stipends as per MHRD whereas in VIT the stipend amount is much less and fixed.

Based on the above points you can choose the best college for yourself!

Is NIT Agartala good for electrical engineering?

SM
Spandita Majumder Posted On : September 18th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Agartala (2019)

NIT Agartala is definitely not the best engineering college in India but its Engineering branch is certainly the best in the institute.

  • The faculty pool comprises both extremely talented as well as young and passionate professors. Faculties are an amazing combination of experience and.
  • The department conducts regular workshops and seminars on the recent trends in the industry.
  • Most of the classroom sessions are interesting and knowledgeable unlike other departments
  • The EE syllabus is very elaborate so it’s one of the most challenging branches with a maximum workload
  • Companies like Infosys and IBM visit the college for mass recruitment. Students are also placed in companies like ABB, Johnson Controls, Havells, Vedanta, L&T and others. Core placements are rare.

So, NIT Agartala Electrical Engineering is a decent choice if you are interested in the field genuinely.
