Hostel Scholarships:
Students availing this scholarship should meet a certain criteria.
If you meet the above criteria and have and maintain a good CGPA, you will be offered a scholarship of INR 16,000. This reimburses the Mess Fee for a year.

There are two levels in obtaining this.
Therefore, SASTRA University is known to have helped students who face financial difficulties. They will help you complete your studies in extreme cases. If you are a good student with a decent GPA and conduct you will be assured a proper graduation.

SASTRA University is well-known for its computing branches, i.e. CSE, IT, ICT. These branches offer great salary packages and placement opportunities. In the 2021 placement drive, the highest CTC offered was 58 LPA. If you are passionate about coding and programming then it is a great place for you.
The curriculum is updated every now and then and you will have good opportunities to explore the IT Software sector. You can even get into MNCs, with a little bit of effort.
Sastra University is one of the most reputed institutes in South India, especially for engineering. In 2020, it was ranked 50 for university and 38 for B.Tech by NIRF. I have a few friends from Sastra University.

Sastra follows a GPA system. Having a decent GPA can help you get scholarships and even a chance to sit for placement in reputed companies. If you have a GPA of around 8.5, you can sit for companies like Amazon, Cypress, etc. Although most companies allow students with a 7.5 CGPA to sit for placements.
Placement:
The placement record of the institute is great. In the 2021 placement drive, the highest CTC offered by the university was 27 LPA.
Overall, Sastra University is great. It will offer great infrastructure, decent facilities, and placement at an affordable fee.
Aerospace Engineering is among the newly established branches at SASTRA University. It has good infrastructural facilities with well-equipped labs. Aerodynamics (low and high speed) lab, Gas dynamics lab, Structures, and Propulsion lab are some of the laboratory facilities available.
The faculty base of the Aerospace department is quite good. The faculty members have M.Tech and PhDs from reputed institutes of India. The department is growing fast in teaching as well as research and consultancy.
Students from this department got placed in organizations like Rolls Royce, Lockheed Martin, ISRO, DRDO. Many students are also pursuing higher studies in IITs and abroad.
The Aerospace department of SASTRA has also engaged in collaborative research with CSIR, DRDO, ISRO, etc. So, if you are interested in joining SASTRA University for a degree in Aerospace Engineering, you should go for it.

Though ECE is said to be the most sought after department in SASTRA University, when placements, faculty and course curriculum is considered. But Mechanical also does not lag behind.
Thiagarajar College Of Engineering (TCE) Madurai is affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE. It offers 8 undergraduate programs, 15 postgraduate programs and doctoral programs in the fields of Engineering and Technology and Science and Architecture. It ranked 64th in the engineering category by NIRF 2020.
SASTRA University is ranked 48 overall and 37 for BTech by NIRF 2020. They have a highly qualified faculty. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses.

Infrastructure and Facilities
PES: The campus comprises 3.5 million sq. ft. of built-up area and acres of open ground. The university offers facilities such as hostels, library, sports complex, and grounds, labs, cafeteria, gym, amphitheater, seminar and conference halls, healthcare, etc.
SASTRA: The university has been recognized as a SIRO by DSIR, Government of India for its research facilities. The institute hosts numerous student activities and events such as DAKSH, BIOTIKOS, etc. Other facilities it offers include a library, clubs, auditorium, hostels, canteen, etc.
Placement Statistics
PES:
851 students were placed in 56 top recruiting companies such as Deloitte, Amazon, LinkedIn, Flipkart, JP Morgan, Tech Mahindra, Intel, Mercedes Benz, etc.
The highest and average package offered was 48 LPA and 6.8 LPA, respectively.
SASTRA:
2400+ (i.e., 70%) were placed in recruiting companies such as Accenture, ICICI Bank, Oracle, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, Wipro, Hyundai, Johnson & Johnson, TCS, IBM, etc.
The highest and average package offered was 28.5 LPA and 9.3 LPA, respectively.
90% of students also got internships at various companies and organizations.
CSE is a decent program at these institutions and thus, it is an individual’s personal discretion as to which one will be the best choice for him or her. One must thoroughly learn about both the universities before taking the decision.
Based on various parameters like salary packages, peer group, etc. NITs are definitely better than SASTRA.
However, SASTRA is also a reputed university, especially if we talk about research facilities. It has a great research infrastructure. The faculties are also good. Many of them are IIT or NIT alumni. The faculty research outcome of SATRA is similar to that of NIT Trichy, in terms of citation.
Alumni of SASTRA are pursuing their studies in reputed universities around the world like MIT, Caltech, Harvard, etc.
Dedicating faculties and a great placement record are the reasons why SASTRA stands out. In 2021 placement drive students at the university received 2300 job offers. The university collaborated with 70 companies for the placement drive. More than 500 students got multiple job offers. Major recruiters at the placement drive were IBM, Paypal, CISCO, etc. The highest CTC offered at the university this year was 27 LPA.
