It really does not matter which institute you do your medical graduation from until and unless you become an international medical graduate. That is all that US officials care about. 

• Although, colleges like AIIMS Delhi, Manipal, CMC Vellore, MAMC, JIPMER have the perk of having a very good network that might help you in getting more interviews. 
• AIIMS Patna or AIIMS Nagpur can not help you build a network as of now since they are just newly established. 
• If you are willing to pick from the perspective of having students around you preparing for USMLE too, then it is not much of a problem as every college has some students like that. 
• Do keep in mind that you will have to prepare on your own and you can always ask professors if you have any doubts. 

You can also opt for getting into state colleges like KGMU or Seth GSMC where you can be surrounded by other USMLE aspirants.

AIIMS Patna is my brother’s alma mater. According to him, it’s an average college. But being an AIIMS, it offers the parks that come with the tag. 

As experienced by my brother, in AIIMS Patna there is no democracy. All the major decisions are taken by the administration. Moreover, there is no student council, so the decisions are always not in the favor of students. Otherwise, according to the curriculum, patient load, and all other facilities the college is good.

However, it’s best to take admission in PMCH, if you want to join a medical college in Patna. It is the best in Patna. 

AIIMS Patna and Medical College Kolkata (MCK) both seem to have their own perks in the different areas of anyone’s interest. Here are some facts that you need to know before making any decision.

AIIMS Patna

• Many believe that AIIMS Patna is a very new college but you can not avoid the fact that it is an AIIMS. 
• Due to the same reason, it is very well recognized abroad so go for it if studying abroad is your goal ultimately. 
• Also, it is well funded therefore the infrastructure and campus are of a top-notch level. 
• The teaching faculty as well is on a better level than MCK. 
• They have got all the co-curricular activities covered too. 

Medical College Kolkata (MCK)

• MCK is not a centrally aided institute so the infrastructure lacks a bit more than that of AIIMS Patna. 
• But the environment is a very healthy one without any political interference in the college procedures. 
• The greatest perk is that it is a 180-year-old college which results in a huge alumni network. 
• Also, if you are a student from Kolkata then you fall in the state reservation quota of 50%, unlike AIIMS. 

Both the colleges are good at their own places, choose the one that suits your requirements. This will be a major step up for your career.

This depends on what you consider as ‘freedom’. But one thing I got to know from the reviews online is that in AIIMS Patna there are not many restrictions for the students. 

• You are actually allowed to live your life to a great extent. 
• But do not expect much in the first year, since you are just getting started. After that, it is just a cakewalk. 
• You can roam around the campus and find your way. Although it is basic etiquette to greet your professors when you meet them on campus. 
• It is a great thing that you can also visit in the OPD blocks, talk to the patients or even seniors and teachers who are posted there until and unless you are wearing an apron. 
• Likewise, you have access to the administrative building and library as well 24*7 with your apron on. 
• You can even go out at night time but first-year students need to be back by 9 pm sharp. 

Lastly, first-year students are not allowed to fool around as couples holding hands and spending time publicly. The most important thing- boys and girls are not allowed in each other’s hostels. You will figure it out once you are not a fresher anymore. You will eventually get accustomed to it.
