GL Bajaj is ranked at 26 for private engineering by India Today and is known to be a leading academic institution. NIET Greater Noida on the other hand has been ranked at number 1 by Data Quest for best private engineering colleges in India. Both universities offer programs in Business, Engineering, IT, and software.

Specifically for Mechanical engineering, let us have a look at the difference between programs offered by both the colleges:

Course structure:

  • NIET offers a 4 year BTech in Mechanical Engineering program that is affiliated to AKTU- Dr. Abdul Kalam Technological University (UPTU).
  • GL Bajaj offers a more practical based degree that is AICTE approved and has added workshops on subjects like computer-aided engineering as part of its curriculum.

Tuition Fee: The total tuition fee for the Mechanical engineering program at NIET amounts to 4.65 lakh whereas GL Bajaj charges a total amount of 2.20 lakh for the same course.

Eligibility:

  • For admissions to the mechanical engineering program at NIET students are required to get an eligible rank in their UPSEE entrance test with a minimum score of 45% in 12th.
  • Students looking to apply at GL Bajaj can apply by clearing the UPSEE exam which is given first preference for allocation of seats. The rest of the seats will be filled by JEE-Mains qualified candidates.

Placements:

  • NIET offers an 82% placement rate within the mechanical engineering department with an average median salary of 4 LPA.
  • GL Bajaj offers placements with multiple core companies as part of their placement drive with the highest CTC of 30.3 lakhs and the lowest of 4.5 lakhs. Both institutions offer a total of 240 seats for BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

Top Recruiters: Compared to GL Bajaj, NIET oversees a lower number of core companies. It sees companies like TCS, Wipro, Kotak, and Nestle as part of its recruitment drive. GL Bajaj on the other hand has many core companies for the field of mechanical engineering like Capgemini, CDK Global, HCL, Fiserv, and Capital Via.

Based on the given factors, students can make a choice regarding their college of preference.

Which college is better in terms of placement and academics, GL Bajaj or IMS Ghaziabad?

If you are willing to pursue B.Tech and we’re not able to make it into IITs or NITs, then I suggest taking a drop year and applying for better engineering colleges than making a hasty decision and choosing IMS. The reason why I advise you on giving up IMS is that its Engineering department is not up to the mark. The quality of education is very poor and in the end, you will just end up with a Degree Certificate and no knowledge or innovative grooming. If you decide on a certain branch then it’s important to know that no matter which specialization you go for, you will be placed under TCs or any other local software company. You won’t be able to climb higher than this. So if your goals and standards are high I suggest you think twice before choosing IMS.
