How is NIT Agartala in terms of placements as compared to RVCE in Bangalore?

Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 18th, 2023

One of my close friends was a part of the Training and Placement Cell of NIT Agartala and gave me a detailed insight into the placement scenario.

The CSE and ECE branches have the best placement scenario and almost all the students get placed. NIT Agartala has a better reputation than other North-East colleges. Core branches like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches have improved their placements over the past few years. RVCE is also a great college in Bangalore and has a location advantage over NIT Agartala.

So, if you want the NIT tag and are ready to relocate to a remote city go for NIT Agartala!

Which college is better: the RV College of Engineering or the MIT Manipal for civil engineering?

NS
Naveen Singhal Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Studies Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Manipal Institute Of Technology (2022)

I have friends from both RV College of Engineering and MIT Manipal, civil engineering holds the same value from either of them. It is because they both follow the same curriculum and guidelines laid by UGC and AICTE. However, both of them hold an edge over each other in their own way. Here’s why:

  • MIT Manipal holds a bigger brand value as civil engineering was one of the branches it started and is known for. Other such branches include chemical and mechanical.
  • If you are looking for better placements, RV College might be the right choice as it is located in Bangalore which clearly means more opportunities.
  • Even if you are getting a computer science branch in MIT Manipal, go for it without a second thought.

The table below shows a brief insight of both institutes:

Particulars

RV College of Engineering

MIT Manipal

Highest Package

13 LPA

43.31 LPA

Average Package

5.25 LPA

7.50 LPA

Course Fees

14 Lakhs

16.26 Lakhs

At the end of the day, your pool of interest matters the most. If you are getting your preferred branch, set the preferences that are more important to you. Are you looking for a great placement or great brand value? The choice is up to you.

Should I prefer civil engineering in IIT Hyderabad or CSE in RVCE?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : May 9th, 2023

My suggestion would be to opt for IIT Hyderabad Civil Engineering and prepare for a branch change.

IITs cannot be compared to any private college other than BITS. Even if you are unable to change your branch, don’t feel disheartened as the IIT Brand name is more than enough.

I know many people who were part of the Chemical, Biotech, and Civil Engineering branches of IIT and are earning more than 12 LPA currently. Irrespective of the branch you belong to, IITs offer an excellent coding culture making you proficient in the same. The quality of peer groups you will be interacting with is also better at IITs than at private colleges like RVCE.

All in all, IIT as a brand is better than RVCE and other private colleges except BITS.

B.Tech from RV College of Engineering (2020)

RV college is a reputed college of engineering that has ranked 7th among the best private engineering colleges in India by The Week in 2020. The infrastructure along with the quality of faculty is extremely well. However, when it comes to choosing a particular course for your future, you should keep some major points in mind.

Admission:

  • In order to pursue B.E in Mechanical engineering, students have to qualify COMEDK UGET and KCET, and to pursue M.TECH, students have to qualify GATE.

  • Around 120 seats are available for mechanical students in the college.

Placement:

  • More than 90% of students from the Mechanical department get placed every year in various companies.

  • Some of the major recruiters who offer placement to the mechanical students are Reliance Industries Ltd, Rolls Royce, Honda, ITC, Cognizant, Bosch, ExonMobilus, Schneider, Capgemini, and more.

  • The students are mostly offered roles of data scientists, business developers, data analysts, and business trainees.

  • Some of these top recruiters offer various internship opportunities to the students as well.

  • The highest and the medium salary packages that are offered to the students are 10 LPA and 4 LPA.

Facilities:

  • Spacious classrooms with modern facilities are available at the institute.

  • One library containing thousands of books and e-books is there inside the campus.

  • Apart from that, both girl’s and boy’s hostel accommodation is provided to the students by the college authority.

These are some of the major points that will help you decide whether or not taking up Mechanical engineering in RV college would be a good decision or not.

Which college would give the best experience and exposure in architecture, RV College of Engineering (RVCE), BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) or Manipal School of Architecture and Planning (MSAP)?

SD
Swapnil Dasgupta Posted On : February 3rd, 2022
B.E Industrial Engineering & Product Design, RV College of Engineering (2019)

All three of these institutes have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of the three.

  • BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) is well-connected so is Manipal School of Architecture and Planning. The architecture department of RV College of Engineering is located in a secluded area.
  • In terms of crowd, the preference order is RVCE>BMS=MSAP.
  • The hostel facilities offered at all these institutes are decent.

If you want decent academics and lots of real-life exposure then the best option among these three is Manipal School of Architecture and Planning.

Which should I choose, EEE in NIT Surathkal, ECE in IIIT Bangalore, or CS in RVC?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 16th, 2023

If you are given these options, your rank in JEE Mains must be near 10k, and that in KCET >= 100. I was faced with similar choices, so I am listing down the pros and cons of each option-

  • RVC- If you are a Bangalorean and don’t wish to go to a hostel, RVC is the ideal choice. You’ll be getting CSE, which is great. The faculty at RVC is good. It offers an indoor basketball court. Your peers would’ve aced their KCET. But the minus point is that there is a management quota.
  • IIIT Bangalore-T his is a great choice for you even if you are interested in CSE. The curriculum for ECE and CSE is mostly common for the first two years. Both branches study common topics like programming and computer architecture. Even a branch change is possible by getting on the Dean’s Merit List. Branch change is purely merit based.
  • NIT Surathkal- EEE from NITK is a great option. However, if you are interested in CS/IT, getting a branch change isn’t easy. Vacancy is low during branch change and its rules are quite rigid-
  1. The current branch’s strength must not decrease by more than 10%.
  2. The future branch’s strength must not increase by more than 10%.
  3. Category-wise allotment of seats is done, similar to JoSAA

If you are planning for an M.Tech in near future, choose IIITB. The iMtech will allow you to complete two degrees in five years, and you won’t be stressed over GATE exams. IIIT Bangalore offers the best placements. This is because Bangalore is the center of major IT and Electronics brands.

I chose iMtech at IIIT Bangalore because of these reasons. You must choose the option that best suits your personal preferences. All the three institutions are well renowned.
