One of my close friends was a part of the Training and Placement Cell of NIT Agartala and gave me a detailed insight into the placement scenario.
The CSE and ECE branches have the best placement scenario and almost all the students get placed. NIT Agartala has a better reputation than other North-East colleges. Core branches like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches have improved their placements over the past few years. RVCE is also a great college in Bangalore and has a location advantage over NIT Agartala.
So, if you want the NIT tag and are ready to relocate to a remote city go for NIT Agartala!
I have friends from both RV College of Engineering and MIT Manipal, civil engineering holds the same value from either of them. It is because they both follow the same curriculum and guidelines laid by UGC and AICTE. However, both of them hold an edge over each other in their own way. Here’s why:
The table below shows a brief insight of both institutes:
Particulars |
RV College of Engineering |
MIT Manipal |

At the end of the day, your pool of interest matters the most. If you are getting your preferred branch, set the preferences that are more important to you. Are you looking for a great placement or great brand value? The choice is up to you.
My suggestion would be to opt for IIT Hyderabad Civil Engineering and prepare for a branch change.
IITs cannot be compared to any private college other than BITS. Even if you are unable to change your branch, don’t feel disheartened as the IIT Brand name is more than enough.
I know many people who were part of the Chemical, Biotech, and Civil Engineering branches of IIT and are earning more than 12 LPA currently. Irrespective of the branch you belong to, IITs offer an excellent coding culture making you proficient in the same. The quality of peer groups you will be interacting with is also better at IITs than at private colleges like RVCE.
All in all, IIT as a brand is better than RVCE and other private colleges except BITS.
RV college is a reputed college of engineering that has ranked 7th among the best private engineering colleges in India by The Week in 2020. The infrastructure along with the quality of faculty is extremely well. However, when it comes to choosing a particular course for your future, you should keep some major points in mind.
Admission:
In order to pursue B.E in Mechanical engineering, students have to qualify COMEDK UGET and KCET, and to pursue M.TECH, students have to qualify GATE.
Around 120 seats are available for mechanical students in the college.
Placement:
More than 90% of students from the Mechanical department get placed every year in various companies.
Some of the major recruiters who offer placement to the mechanical students are Reliance Industries Ltd, Rolls Royce, Honda, ITC, Cognizant, Bosch, ExonMobilus, Schneider, Capgemini, and more.
The students are mostly offered roles of data scientists, business developers, data analysts, and business trainees.
Some of these top recruiters offer various internship opportunities to the students as well.
The highest and the medium salary packages that are offered to the students are 10 LPA and 4 LPA.
Facilities:
Spacious classrooms with modern facilities are available at the institute.
One library containing thousands of books and e-books is there inside the campus.
Apart from that, both girl’s and boy’s hostel accommodation is provided to the students by the college authority.
These are some of the major points that will help you decide whether or not taking up Mechanical engineering in RV college would be a good decision or not.
All three of these institutes have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of the three.
If you want decent academics and lots of real-life exposure then the best option among these three is Manipal School of Architecture and Planning.
If you are given these options, your rank in JEE Mains must be near 10k, and that in KCET >= 100. I was faced with similar choices, so I am listing down the pros and cons of each option-
If you are planning for an M.Tech in near future, choose IIITB. The iMtech will allow you to complete two degrees in five years, and you won’t be stressed over GATE exams. IIIT Bangalore offers the best placements. This is because Bangalore is the center of major IT and Electronics brands.
I chose iMtech at IIIT Bangalore because of these reasons. You must choose the option that best suits your personal preferences. All the three institutions are well renowned.
