What is the academic calendar of NICMAR like throughout 2 years? Can you give a rough idea?

SG
Surekha Gandhi Posted On : September 20th, 2021
Studied PGP Construction Management, National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2017)

SurekhaNICMAR has a lot of two-year courses. My brother pursued the Advanced Construction management (PGP-ACM) program at NICMAR. So here's an overview of the same:

  • NICMAR follows a trimester policy in which three terms of 3 months period each are divided to fit in the two years.
  • In the fifth term after completion of the 1st year, you can intern with some company.
  • The syllabus in the 1st year will be centered on core construction and management subjects. During placements, companies will recruit on the basis of these subjects.
  • You will also learn finance, risk management, estimation, project life cycle, earned value management, marketing, and other subjects.

In the second year, placements will begin and elective subjects based on real estate and infrastructure will make their appearance. You will have a choice based on the sector chosen. Here you may choose electives that are easy and add value to your degree and resume in turn.

You will also learn how to work with software lab, which includes MS Project, Primavera, Candy, etc. These will be spread over the span of two years. There'll be a lot of fun and learning so relax and learn as you go.

Can I get admission in IET Lucknow via JEE Mains?

RG
Radhika Goel Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studies Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

IET Lucknow does not accept JEE Main score for their admission process. You must have a valid score in UPSEE to get a seat.

In case you have not applied for UPSEE then you can try for HBTU Kanpur or Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur. These colleges are almost at the same level as IET Lucknow and JEE Main scores are accepted here for admission.

MMMUT also conducts its own entrance exam i.e. MET exam and some seats are reserved for JEE Main candidates.

How are the mechanical placements at SVNIT Surat?

KM
Kaushika Mishra Posted On : May 21st, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (2017)

Placement at SVNIT Surat is great as informed by some of my friends studying there. Here are the recent placement highlights for SVNIT Surat.

  • The highest package offered here is 37.50 LPA while the average CTC ranges from 4-7 LPA.
  • In order to get a placement to try to secure a CGPA pointer of above 6.5 by the end of your degree. It's safe if your CGPA is 7 and above. One of the best ways is to do that, get a good pointer in the first year (8 and above), and then continue to secure above 6.5 to keep it above 7.
  • Try to gain all your basic knowledge in all the mechanical subjects on point. This will surely help you out in technical interviews.
  • If you truly have the interest but don't have a good CGPA pointer, then it will be very hard to qualify for placements, and you will regret it later on. Students with marks 60% above can apply, but the final shortlist will only have people with marks above 65%-70% depending on the people applied.
  • Participate in a decent amount of co-curricular activities. You need to make sure that you know a lot about the core concepts about the subjects of your interest.

Obviously, the placements are great because of the NIT tag, but it will be of no use if you hold a second-class degree, with a lot of back papers. So, I would like to advise you to just focus on your studies.

Which one is better, doing CSE at NIT Calicut or NIT Jaipur?

TD
Tania Dey Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur (2019)

The list should be something like this, and this is not a fixed one; it may vary year by year.

NIT Trichy>NIT Surathkal>NIT Warangal>MNNIT Allahabad>MNIT Jaipur /NIT Calicut>SVNIT Surat / NIT Nagpur>MANIT Bhopal / NIT Kurukshetra / NIT Rourkela>NIT Durgapur / NIT Jamshedpur>NIT Jalandhar/ NIT Delhi>NIT Raipur/ NIT Hamirpur.

I would like to suggest MNIT Jaipur.

  • CSE at MNIT Jaipur is one of the finest when compared with all the NITs.
  • The faculty is good and the facilities are amazing, in terms of labs, connectivity, etc.
  • One can really expect steeper increases in placements and their packages in the coming years.
  • It is great in terms of crowd diversity.

Now let us take a look at NIT Calicut:

  • NIT Calicut is the better-ranked college when it comes to NITs.
  • It is better reputed when it comes to classroom teaching and academic details.
  • Extra-Curricular activities are also encouraged a lot.
  • There’s ample free time to engage in clubs.
  • Coming to CSE, the placements of Calicut are much better than NIT Jaipur as well.

CSE at MNIT Jaipur is a much better option than any core branch in the top 3 NITs - especially if your career plans are job-oriented and you want to work comfortably at least a few years right after you graduate.

The strength of any institute comes from its very own students. Students achieve and the institute flourishes. Students do their best and the institute counts.

So choice is yours. Take your time and make your decision on the basis of your instinct and where and how you see yourself in upcoming life.

How is NIT Calicut for a B.Tech in material science?

NM
Nandini Mishra Posted On : August 26th, 2021
National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2019)

B.Tech in material science in NIT CALICUT is a slightly underrated course as it is newly introduced. NIT Calicut also has an M.Tech course for material science.

The material science branch in NIT Calicut is a very promising branch despite being an underrated and newly introduced branch and has become an important part of NIT Calicut. This branch also has a dedicated department for nanotechnology. Recently they have made their college proud by preparing and distributing hand sanitizer in the entire campus and also in local sections of society to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The placements of this department are not as great as in the computer science department as it is a newly introduced branch.

This is a research-oriented branch with a strong alumni network. Material Science is definitely a promising field and offers a lot of opportunities in higher studies. If you love nanoscience then you should go for this course.
