Is there anyone working in IT after doing BCA MCA from IGNOU?

KL
Karishma Luthra Posted On : October 21st, 2022
M.C.A. in Computers, Master of Science in Computer Science

Many people work in top MNCs after completing BCA/MCA from IGNOU and are earning competitive salaries with other professionals who have completed B.Tech/MBA from traditional colleges. Getting a good job and a good package is dependent on how skilled you are and how well you can justify your competency in an interview. Even though many companies do not hire people with degrees from IGNOU or other distance-learning universities, there are many who do, based on their ability.

The conclusion is that pursuing a degree course through IGNOU should not be your first choice if you are capable of obtaining an education from a good college.

People pursue their education through IGNOU due to personal reasons that prevent them from enrolling in a top engineering college. IGNOU's mission is to make education accessible to all, and for those who, for whatever reason, are unable to travel to study, IGNOU provides quality education in their home city.

Is architecture really good at NITT and NIT Calicut?

AT
Akashi Thirukonda Posted On : August 27th, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut (2019)

Architecture students at NIT Trichy are extremely talented and hardworking. The campus has a competitive environment. The whole course is more about learning by doing rather than mugging up theories.

A career in Architecture requires you to learn from an already established firm or architect and then go ahead to carve your niche. My friends have shared really positive experiences about these kinds of internships, so my guess is that at NIT Trichy you give you the proper exposure.

Parameters NIT Calicut NIT Trichy
Tuition Fee INR 16,000 INR 72,500
Placement Percentage 73.5% 92%
Average Package INR 11.57 LPA INR 11.58 LPA

You must know that the field of architecture is not weak-hearted and you must possess good control over your body NIT Calicut is also one of the good colleges for architecture. But the ultimate decision lies in your hand.

Is it worth doing an MBA from SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune or NMIMS Mumbai after 2 years of job experience in IT?

SB
Soutrik Bose Posted On : May 17th, 2021
MBA Marketing, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune

Yes, it’s worth it. In some cases, it is even essential to do an MBA after having 2 years of work experience in IT.

  • There are different kinds of people in IT sectors, some who like the technicalities of IT and some don't like that. People who like the technicalities of IT will settle in just a couple of years by learning to code brilliantly and achieve their goals.
  • Other people are just the opposite; they are always left feeling that they are missing something. MBA adds value to your resume and helps you to change your career.

I know a few people from SIBM Pane, so I can tell you about the MBA program offered by them.

  • My friends at the institute have peers who come with work experience in the IT sector and are going to be working in big FMCG brands in the summers.
  • SIBM Pune had an average CTC of around 20.14 LPA. The average internship stipend offered in the summer internship for 2018-20 was around 1.66 lacs for just two months and above 55% of students got offers for 1.5 lacs around. The highest stipend offered was 3 lacs.

Also, MBA can be a much-needed break for many with corporate careers. It’s a fun experience, you will get to learn a lot through many corporate interactions.

Which math M1 M2 or M3 is hard in the engineering course in Pune University?

RB
Riya Banerjee Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
B.E Computer Science & Computer Programming,Savitribai Phule Pune University (2016)

Ony of my sisters is a part of Pune University and as per what she mentions, it is best that you practice the fundamental mathematical problems. Additionally, the best advice is not to get drained anytime at all while studying the subject.

Now, when shifting focus to your question,

  • M1 incorporates basic algebra and is deemed pretty simpler than usual.
  • On the other hand, M2 might still be difficult, yet it can however be aced if you practice the basics of integration and derivation.
  • In the case of M3, the course entirely depends upon the fundamentals you have earlier prepared for M2.
  • After a brief elaboration, it is best that you rather choose preparing for M2, because it can contribute to making the subject quite easier.

The study standpoint is curated as per the syllabus, and is best if you follow the pattern in accordance with it.

Do you know anyone who got into a top b-school (IIMs, XLRI, JBIMS, NM, IIFT, FMS etc.) with average UG percentage?

AM
Ashish Metkar Posted On : February 20th, 2023
MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Graduated 2011)

Yes, I do know a friend who managed to get calls from many top B Schools despite having an average Undergraduate Score. Her profile looked like this

  • 10th- 76%
  • 12th- 68%
  • UG- 64%

Although her marks witnessed a gradual decline, she was lucky enough to study at XLRI. Past academics are considered as one but not the major factors at XLRI, unlike IIMs that focus a lot on past academics. A good XAT and GD-PI score can compensate for your poor academic record at XLRI, FMS, and JBIMS. NITIE is a top B School that does not consider past academics at all. My friend with her average profile managed to convert NITIE, XIMB, and all the IIMs except for the top ones obviously. So we can safely assume that admission into these top B Schools is possible even with an average profile provided that you score excellently in the CAT or XAT and the GDPI round.

Can I change my shift at MSIT after taking admission?

SS
Samita Saha Posted On : May 17th, 2021
Studied ECE at MSIT

Yes, you can do so. But you can only do that once you are in your 2nd year by the procedure known as the migration process. In this, you can change your college and shift too.

  • For intra-college migration, i.e. migration within the college, you have to score at least 78 CPI, it is based on the credit score for each subject.
  • In GGSIPU you get credit for each subject. The credit system is such that each subject has certain credits for e.g. Eco is given 4 credits, Accountancy 1, and so on. After the result, each subject is marked and multiplied against credits like if you scored 80 out of 100 in Eco, your credits are 80×4, i.e. 360. The rest of the credits are summed up to get CPI.
  • CPI is used for up-gradation. All the up-gradation is totally based on 1st-semester marks. You have to fill an up-gradation form and have to submit it on the official website. There are usually 3-5 seats in each branch for up-gradation and for this you have to be among the toppers.

Migration from one college to another does take place too. You have to score really well for the same. The information regarding inter-college migration can be found on the official website.

How good is North Eastern Hill University (NEHU)?

AR
Anushree Roy Posted On : April 7th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, North-Eastern Hill University (2018)

North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has a very peaceful environment and extremely friendly people. This institute can be good but it does not meet the expectations in terms of providing quality education.

If you don’t want to struggle in your work-life, it will be wise not to choose NEHU. One of my friends is a faculty there and she is not happy with the academic environment and work culture at the institute.

Besides all the bad reviews there are a few departments that are decent.

  • School of Technology is a new addition to NEHU. It still has a lot to improve. It lacks the competitive environment and a Techfest of its own that a good technical institute should have. However, currently, it is better than various other private colleges in India. Besides, this department is bestowed with a handful of skilled faculty.
  • According to various student reviews, the Department of Botany and Zoology are good; and the Department of Physics, Mathematics, Economics, and Chemistry are average.

Lastly, it has a diverse nature of students and comes with an extremely beautiful campus.

What should I choose: NITK CSE or IIIT Hyderabad CSE?

SS
Savi Sharma Posted On : July 28th, 2023

The decision of choosing one between NITK CSE and IIIT Hyderabad CSE depends on what kind of college life you are looking for. To be frank, if you want a dynamic campus life with an equally good but light curriculum, NIT Surathkal is better than IIIT Hyderabad because the matter has a very rigid campus life that focuses entirely on academics. NIT Surathkal will give you a huge baggage of memories, a good job, and some good connections. But IIIT Hyderabad will help you become a person of responsibility whose only focus is building a career.

NIT Surathkal brings you together with people from all corners of the country which makes the experience better. IIIT Hyderabad on the other hand has only two branches - CSE and ECE. So the former may not make you a very talented CS engineer but will surely develop your personality as a whole.

So the best way to decide is to analyze your inclination, and then make an informed decision.

What are the approximate hostel charges for first year students at hostels near Nirma University?

AG
Aritra Ghose Posted On : May 17th, 2021
B.Tech CSE, Nirma University

I have a friend studying at Nirma University and he gave some information about the hostel accommodation near the institute. If you are planning to be in a hostel there are a few near the university.

Hiramani hostel:

  • The hostel fees are around 50000 to 80000. It depends on which type of room and no of persons in a room.
  • Almost everything is included in the fee. You get food but for that, you have to pay and the food is not up to mark. My friend stayed in the hostel and he used to take breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Nirma. NIM canteen provides good food options. It will cost 70rs. For lunch and dinner.
  • So, if you live in Hiramani you will have to spend approximately 200 Rs daily on food, which sums up to 6000 per month.

Nirma Hostel:

  • As per the schedule, you will be staying for 8-9 months in the hostel and the rest of the time at home. Food cost is around 54000. And total fees if you live in AC 2 sharing room is 65000+54000 = 119000.
  • The rooms are great and there are fewer rules.

SGVP:

  • At SGVP, you will have to follow many rules, like waking up at 5:00 am, which is tough for engineering students.
  • Fees: 80000 ac per sem
  • It includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner but there are no laundry facilities. The rooms are good. Food facilities are also decent.

There are many other options too, like Sandipini, but my friend claims Hiramani is best.
