What is the scope of doing an MBA from IGNOU? Is it acceptable by MNCs?

AA
Aman Arora Posted On : October 21st, 2022
MS from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (Graduated-2016)

IGNOU is recognised by AICTE and is run by the central government. So if you are looking for a government job then it’s not an issue. Also, IGNOU is better than many small universities like SMU (Sikkim Manipal University).

IGNOU is the best option if you are tight on budget or you prefer learning while earning.

MNCs prefer a formal education of 15 years. For additional education, you can go for IGNOU. But if your Bachelor's Degree is also from IGNOU then this might be a problem at the time of employment.

It’s important to note that at the time of employment regular colleges are always given more preference than distance education. So it’s recommended you pursue MBA from a regular college. Let IGNOU be the last choice under special circumstances such as a tight budget or preferring distance learning due to personal reasons.

What is the placement scenario and scope of the IIM PGP Agri Business Management (ABM) program in general and with special reference to IIM Lucknow?

SC
Shubham Chauhan Posted On : February 8th, 2024

It depends on the other options available to you. ABM graduates are eligible for many of the marketing and operations jobs that normal PGP students are. Choosing an ABM at any of the top IIMs (including IIM Lucknow) is a better option than a general MBA from a tier 2 business school. Even if you take a drop for CAT, it will be a waste of your year. In an MBA, your college tag makes a big difference. In the long run, the IIM tag will benefit your corporate career a lot.

SG
Sarita Gupta Posted On : June 23rd, 2021
MBA from Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune (2019)

MBA colleges in Maharashtra reserve a large portion of seats for the students of Maharashtra Domicile. Over the years the reserved category has reduced but to date, it is more than half of the total seats.

  • For the previous year, 75% of the seats were reserved for the students for Maharashtra domicile and the rest was for All India Category.
  • This in turns results in very high cut-offs in All India Category near about 98+ percentile.
  • For MBA in PUMBA you need to appear in any of the following exams conducted across the country - CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT or MH-CET.

When the results are out you have to register on the DTE Maharashtra website to avail domicile benefit. Fill in the preferences and the colleges you want to get in.

How was your IIT Kanpur's MBA interview experience?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : April 19th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

One of my friends had a great MBA interview experience at IIT Kanpur. She had a completely different and exhilarating experience which was nothing like what was going on there. In fact, the students being interviewed before she had been evaluated on the basis of their knowledge of Engineering that too from the 1st year. Almost everyone had no idea because around 6 years had passed and everyone had forgotten even the basic concepts let alone the questions they were being asked.

Before entering the interview room she was very scared and clueless. She found herself in a small room with 2 male panelists.

  • The first panelist asked her about her most exciting aspect to which she told them about the book she was writing. They sounded curious and ended up hearing the entire plot.
  • Next, she was asked if she liked traveling to which she told them about her dream destination being Iceland and how she had already traveled throughout India.
  • They further asked her about her family and why she did not prefer IIM Lucknow despite being close to her home.

The interview ended on a friendly note and she left the room with a light heart. Surprisingly enough, she was able to convert.

How are the placements for QSCM course at Nicmar?

HR
Himani Rawat Posted On : September 24th, 2021
Post Graduation QSCM,National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2016)

The placements for the QSCM course at NICMAR are quite less. As of 2019, a total of 24 companies visited and out of 225 students only 40 students were placed. There was a criterion that is set by nearly all the companies that the students need to have at least 60 percent marks in class 10th, 12th, and engineering.

Also, it has been seen that due to the high intake of students, the package is reduced too much lower than before. In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered was 6.75 LPA.

Overall, the placements for QSCM at NICMAR are not so impressive.

What's better, project management at NITIE or VJTI?

VM
Ved Mehta Posted On : August 16th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2019)

Having to know some people from both these institutions, I can say that both of these colleges are specialized in two different fields. Let me share some facts about both these colleges I gathered by interacting with them.

  • VJTI is one of the prominent engineering colleges and NITIE is prominent among the top B-schools of India.
  • NITIE is recognized for its extensive alumni and professional professors who are experts in their fields.
  • Project Management at NITIE, in terms of studies, is the best among the B-schools in the country.
  • From Project Management at VJTI, 18% of the students are placed in prominent companies.
  • NITIE is known for its high management extension.
  • The placement and faculty of VJTI are not up to the mark when compared to NITIE.
Categories Project Management at NITIE Project Management at VJTI
Course Fee 12.53 lakh 1.65 lakh
Highest CTC 22 LPA -
Average CTC 14 LPA 5.5-6 LPA
Recruiting Companies Deloitte, Dabur, KPMG, Marico, etc. Bank of America, Barclays, Capgemini, Crisil, etc.

Hence, there is no comparison between VJTI and NITIE. But one of my friends has recommended NITIE as in many aspects it manages to be better than VJTI.
