Presently, I will go to BTech final year. I want to do an MBA in IIM Bangalore. How can I achieve it? What is the eligibility criteria?

SS

Studied at IIM Bangalore (2019)

After completing your graduation you can start your preparation for MBA. Being a student of IIM Bangalore, I can provide some insights which might be helpful for you.

IIMB selection is done through CAT. The cut-off for top B-schools is above the 99.5 percentile, which varies over the years.

The selection process of every B-school is almost the same. After clearing the cut-off you will get an interview call but few B-schools follow different procedures too. After getting shortlisted, you will be called to give Written Assessment (WAT).

Written Assessment:

  • You have to express your thoughts on the given argument. Around 20 to 30 minutes will be given.
  • Topics can be asked from current affairs, business, economics, social issues, etc.
  • After WAT, candidates will be assessed with Group Discussion and then a Personal Interview.
  • The interview process is 30 to 45 minutes long.
  • The academic scores have a weightage of 5%.
  • An extra weightage will be given to candidates who have good scores in 10th, 12th, and bachelors degree.
  • The final decision will be taken only after looking at the performance of the candidates in all these stages.

You have to give your 100% to get selected in one of the top B-Schools in India. To make sure you get selected, start preparing for CAT well in advance, improve your writing skills and interviewing skills. Read as much as you can from books, newspapers, so that you can be comfortable in facing the selection process.

What are my chances of getting into IIM Bangalore with 84/68/87, 2 international scholarships and 1 National Scholarship?

RR
Rajnish Roy Posted On : July 27th, 2021
MBA from IIM Calcutta (2019)

One of my friends is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and here is what he had to say.

If you are a general category student then it will be difficult to get a call back from IIM B. It is difficult to say anything specifically since you have not mentioned your category and whether you have any work experience or not.

It’s good that you have scholarships. However, it does not add anything to your profile. Scholarships don’t feature as eligibility criteria for getting a call from IIM B.

It only takes into account academic credentials, work experience, CAT score, Gender diversity, and category.

Are all programmes in IIM Bangalore residential?

CS
Chitra Shah Posted On : July 27th, 2021
Studies PGPEM at IIM Bangalore 2021

The question you asked is sort of on the wrong side. Not all programs in IIM Bangalore are residential. Having said that, it is only the PGP program in particular that mainly requires students to stay on campus.

  • PGPEM and EGMP, apart from the one mentioned above, do not require students to stay on campus.
  • However, in PGPEM you can still have an alternative open and that is to stay on campus if only you are willing to, on weekends.
  • EPGP and PGP, among others, are the only two full-time residential programs with the provision of full campus placements.

In fact, these two are accredited programs and are also ranked in respective MBA and MIM categories.

That being said, these are the few residential programs stated in brief,

  1. Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP)
  2. PGP
  3. Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM)

Hope this helps you, wish you all the best!
