What is your review of Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), Bhubaneswar? Is it worth doing an MBA from this institute? What are its placements like?

SG
Santanu Ganguli Posted On : March 13th, 2023
MBA in Mark, Fin and Sys Business Management, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2019)

My friend was a student at XIMB and all the points mentioned below are based on his experience at XIMB.

  • Location: Located at the center of the city, no commute difficulties are posed and you can access all off-campus facilities with ease. But the new campus is a bit far from the city and is bigger. Both campuses have world-class facilities.
  • Campus Life: Life at XIMB is rigorous and lively and you will always be occupied with classes, committee elections, quizzes, case study competitions, cultural events, and guest lectures. But this rigor will help you learn time management. Nightlife on campus is exciting as a number of exciting things take place at night
  • Friendships: Every good college experience requires a good group of friends without which your survival might become more difficult. This friendship will stay with you throughout the year.
  • Hostel: The hostel life is thrilling and you will develop an affinity for your Hostel and your Hostel Block will become your pride and identity.
  • Faculty: The faculty reside within the campus and are some of the best in the country.
  • Case Study Competitions: You can participate in all the major case study competitions to portray your business problem-solving skills.
  • Xpressions: This event is in the limelight of the Institute as it showcases what XIMB actually is. The event welcomes some of the top celebrities and gives an exciting experience.
  • Placements: Placements are at level with the top 20 colleges. XIMB maintains a decent placement record over years. Recently, the institute released its 2022 placement report. According to the report, the highest salary, average salary & median salary increased by nearly 34.2%, 15.78% & 17.9% respectively as compared to the previous year. The highest salary offered was INR 32.21 LPA & average salary stood at INR 17.54 LPA. The median salary offered was INR 17.10 LPA.

Life at XIMB will give you an abundance of memories and knowledge about yourself, life and competitions. Make the best of those 2 years and try to be involved in every possible activity as you won’t get to relive these days and get back those days again.

What is the reality of Life at IIM Calcutta (IIM C)? Want to know about the placements? Is it worth joining IIM C or other institutions? One of the top IIM is myth or reality?

LJ
Lovish Juneja Posted On : December 1st, 2022
Doing research on IIM(s) from last 2 years

Placements at IIM Calcutta are modified versions of the Stanford Prison Experiment that involve less physical abuse but ruthless psychological torture. And it is past time that CAT aspirants and the general public were made aware of this. It is also an attempt to raise awareness among the Institute's Board of Governors, faculty, and other stakeholders. It also reflects utter dissatisfaction with IIM-C Alumni who graduated in recent years and failed to take any action or stand up for what is right, despite knowing what goes on here.

Yes, the Placement Committee members were recently subjected to a Non-Confidence Motion because a majority of final-year MBAs finally took a stand against the oppressive regime. If you fail to attend company PPTs or a Wing mate fails to attend due to illness, your entire wing will be barred from at least three companies. Unless you're a friend or a beloved, of course. Nobody holds PlaceCom accountable.

What is your review on NIT Silchar for M.tech in mechanical engineering?

LC
Lipika Chakraborty Posted On : August 24th, 2023
B.tech from National Institute of Technology Silchar (2020)

NIT Silchar is a prestigious engineering college that imparts quality education in various fields. However, the PG courses aren't very well-known and only the UG courses have gained fame over time. It is therefore advisable to check the profiles of the teachers in the respective department.

Additionally, NIT Silchar is located in a remote location and you might find it difficult to procure your equipment for projects. MTech depends on the quality of the research and project you have completed and if you fail to accomplish it your MTech degree is invaluable.

Most companies visiting NIT Silchar prefer BTech students to MTech students. So getting a good job let alone a core job is very difficult here. The institute has no international ties so your future prospects may narrow down further.

Consider all the above factors before making your final decision!

What is the future after doing a PG in rural development from IGNOU?

AT
Animesh Tripathi Posted On : October 21st, 2022
Studied at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

It's one of those insignificant programs that won't help you advance in your career. MA courses in rural development or MA courses in public administration are worthless yet they are useful in Social Work though. However, too many have MSW degrees and are preferred over MPA and MARD candidates. Even in the government sector, Master's degrees in social work or sociology are required.

So it makes no difference whether you enroll in this PG program at IGNOU or another university. It might not work. You can, however, use this as a postgraduate degree. You should pursue a postgraduate degree in social work.

Can I get some IIM Rohtak reviews from students and alumni?

MS
Malini Singhania Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2020)

There are a lot of parameters the answer to this question can be divided into the following points.

  • Infrastructure: The quality of the infrastructure has grown over the years after a few initial setbacks. As the constructions are new, IIM Rohtak looks larger than life. It has a fully functional sports facility. There are air conditions in the hostel rooms.
  • Administration: The administrative staff has the final authority for accepting and rejecting a suggestion. The decisions made by them are not always met with enthusiasm by the students, however, but the staff is indeed a strong presence.
  • Academics: The academics in IIM Rohtak are rigorous only in the first year. Like every other IIM, the pedagogy is centered on application. There is a shortage of faculty and with that, the problem of faculty retention. The courses are taught by visiting professors from other IIMs, from other countries, etc.
  • Peer group: The campus of IIM Rohtak is diverse and helps in addressing the looking down on women in the corporate world. The people you are mingling with influence you a lot. You will come across very intelligent people in your tenure as a student and also very naïve students.
  • Placements: The positions offered to the students during placements are sometimes more or less similar to the positions offered by another institute. Roles offered by IIM Rohtak are better than the ones that are offered by other institutes.

The institute is also unfairly associated with Haryana by the locals. For that reason, IIM Rohtak gets negative press. The people are helpful but they can be rude more often than not.
