The admission process (criterion) followed by NITIE, Mumbai for the PGDISEM courses offered by the institution is as follows:

  • The applicants must acquire a degree in an Engineering/Technology-related UG Course in any department with an aggregate of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD applicants).
  • After this, you are required to appear for and attempt the CAT examination; the cut-off percentile for NITIE is around 95 for General candidates, 80 for NC-OBC candidates, and 70 for SC and ST candidates.

How do I get my IGNOU ID card after taking admission in the MA programme?

AD
Aasif Dar Posted On : October 20th, 2022
Post Grady from IGNOU (Graduated 2016)

To get your IGNOU ID card you need to visit your IGNOU regional centre. You can collect it from there. The ID card should have a stamp of IGNOU on it which makes it valid. If you will download your IGNOU ID card online, it does not have the stamp making it invalid. This will be a major problem in your exams.

It is highly possible that IGNOU does not mail your card. Most of the time you will have to visit the regional centre personally to get your IGNOU ID card.

Do IIT Guwahati organise spot round for M.Tech admissions?

NT
Nived Tripathi Posted On : May 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG)

No, the Department of Mechanical Engineering generally does not organize any spot admission for postgraduate courses. The first list is released after the initial counseling. The further lists are released depending on the seats available till that time. This procedure is repeated until the 4th list is released wherein the newly selected candidates have to take admission on the first day of registration, and classes start subsequently.

Occasionally, a change of specialization is allowed even after the commencement of classes although there is no provision for spot admission. However, sometimes instead of publishing the 4th list, the Department may go for Spot Admission to the waitlisted candidates. This once happened in 2015. It all depends on the vacancy and nothing is fixed.

Spot admission takes place in IIT Hyderabad and IIT Madras although there is no guarantee of any particular choice of streams even department.

How do I write career goal column while filling FMS Delhi application form?

SP
Sai Prashanth Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

You can fill the career goa column with points like these

  1. why are you better than the rest
  2. why did you choose FMS
  3. How is MBA related to achieving your goals

The first question can be answered by mentioning your strengths and weaknesses and how you have qualities and skills that others lack. You can speak about the goal-oriented mindset that has brought you to the interview room.

The answer to the next question can be written after talking to an alumnus of FMS. You can mention things like ROI or the low fees factor, the excellent faculty, and the accreditation with Delhi University. All these reasons made it almost impossible for you to not choose FMS.

The answer to the last question is a bit tricky as one necessarily does not have goals while pursuing MBA. Most people do it because many intellectuals are also doing so. And trust me this is not wrong. All you need is to trust the process and their intellect. One smart way to answer this question is to establish a past belief in how you have known it all along and how you made it. You can write your ultimate goal and also how this is just the starting point.

Some points to consider while writing these answers are

  • Write the answers such that it reflects your true self
  • Proofread the answers for connotations, interpretations and grammatical errors

Just know that this form is not the basis for shortlisting just a basis for the questions that will be asked to you.

How difficult is it to get a PhD from IISc Bangalore?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : July 14th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Well, getting a Ph.D. from IISc is indeed difficult. In my opinion, the true meaning of a Ph.D. is investing your entire efforts, time, and knowledge in one specific region. In India though, Ph.D. is just considered a degree one can achieve by publishing some paper in some conference or journal. The quality of these papers is poor and substandard bringing down the sort of the degree.

However, IISc being a prestigious institute has managed to maintain the dignity and credibility of the degree so far. You need to prepare yourself for committing to hard work and high-level dedication. Know that your next 5-6 years will be spent proving and disproving every hypothesis possible and conducting infinite experiments.

As a Ph.D. student, you will be publishing a few journals in top international forums and also writing your own thesis, which will culminate your entire work and present it before other researchers and professors of the institute. You will then be assessed thoroughly. Only after proving your point strongly and convincing them will you be able to get the degree.

During this whole time, you will face many struggles dealing with your PI and securing funds for your research work. But trust me the result will be worth the effort!

What is the minimum marks required by an OBC NCL candidate in the JEE Mains to get admission in Nit Goa or any other low ranked NIT?

GJ
Gauri Jaiswal Posted On : August 28th, 2021
Student at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2016-present)

There's a change in rules and the student's thinking manner every year and also the cut-off changes. So, these are the factors to attain admission in NIT Goa or any other lower-ranked NIT. Some new rules are imposed every year.

To be safe and have admission in NIT Goa or any other lower-ranked NIT, the OBC students could attain a score of 150 out of 360. Through this score, a student from the OBC category can have admission to the average NIT.

This is not the score for the general category students as they need to attain a higher score because of the reservation policies.

Is it a big deal to study in NSIT?

HP
Himanshu Pathak Posted On : August 21st, 2023
lives in Chandigarh, India

No , honestly, after going through so much hard work and finally getting admission into NSUT, my brother realized that it wasn’t a big deal at all.

  • Except for the IT and Mechanical departments, the classrooms are ordinary with no modern facilities.
  • Hostels have no wifi connection The funds are misused. Instead of organizing fests and funding societies every year a path of greenery is added.
  • The teachers focus more on the attendance of students rather than delivering concepts excellently.
  • The college is surviving solely because of its affiliation with DU.
  • The research culture is inactive and only a few teachers and researchers are genuinely focused.
  • Apart from COE and IT, all other branches have heavy workloads with poor placements and internships.
  • The institute does not offer any modern courses like machine learning, artificial intelligence, image processing, computer vision, data science etc

In all, you will be very disappointed when you end up in an institute like NSUT after going through sleepless nights to clear JEE. So don’t believe the rumors and fall for the fake brand image NSUT has built to attract students.

I currently have a salary of 25L as a product manager. Is it worth it doing an MBA further at ISB, Hyderabad or in US universities? I want to do entrepreneurship, and a MBA for networking

Former Co-founder & COO/Head of Admissions (2017–2019)

Since your main goal is to grow a stronger network, considering US universities is of no use. However, if you are okay with developing international networks US universities are a viable option.

Comparing ISB Hyderabad with a US university is a lengthy discussion. Your choice should depend on whether you are planning to settle abroad or settle within India. If your ultimate goal is settling abroad, US universities should be your only option.

If we compare the pay structure, the average package offered at ISB Hyderabad is nearly the same as your current salary whereas US universities offer 7 times better salaries.

Both options require a lot of effort from the initial stage. To get into either, you need a spectacular profile and an impactful application strategy.

Sarthak Chaudhuri Posted On : July 27th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (2022)

No, for every bachelor's course offered at IIT Jodhpur, you have to clear JEE Exam and get a rank that qualifies you for admission. Some IITs accept Bachelors admission with JEE Rank but not for engineering courses. For instance, IIT Madras offers a Bachelor's program in the Humanities department for which you only need to clear HSEE.

Here are the programs offered by IIT Jodhpur and the exams accepted respectively

BTech

JEE Main

MBA

CAT

M. Tech and Integrated M.Tech+Ph.D.

GATE

M.Sc. and M.Sc. + M.Tech.

IIT JAM

Ph.D.

GATE, UGC-NET, JRF, or SLET

However, every engineering course requires JEE rank for admission irrespective of any IIT.
