All the mentioned NITs are among the top engineering institutes in the country. Out of all the NITs in India, the best choice is NIT Rourkela. As some of my friends studied there I might be able to give you some reasons. These are:
The fee and chemical branch placement details are as follows.
Categories | Chemical at NIT Rourkela |
Fee | INR 8.22 Lakhs |
Minimum Package | INR 3.6 LPA |
Average Package | INR 6.58 LPA |
Highest Package | INR 22 LPA |
The top recruiters include L&T, Reliance, Tata, P&G, Parle, ACC Cement, Aditya Birla, IOCL, PGCIL, NTPC, GMR Energy, GlaxoSmithKline, and more.
Overall, NIT Rourkela is an excellent choice. After CSE and EC branches, the Chemical branch recorded the highest placements. The return on investment of college is decent. But you should opt for it only if you can deal with and function under strict regulations and laws.
NIT Calicut provides the best faculty to its students. Every faculty is a Ph.D. in their respective field. Obviously, many faculty have even higher qualifications.
Now if you ask about faculty quality, then it will always differ from person to person. Some will find a faculty very good while some will find the same professor not so good. Opinions differ from student to student. To know the best faculty, you need to join their class yourself.
One of my friends is a student of NIT Calicut and according to him, the CS department is the best in the institute. It is also among the top 3 CS branches in NITs.
Parameters | NIT Calicut |
Highest CTC | 49 LPA |
Average CTC | 11 LPA |
Major recruiters | AutoNinja, Bosch, Nokia |
Overall, NIT Calicut offers a great CS program.
In terms of the research field, there are almost no placements opportunities in Engineering Physics at NIT Calicut. The only companies where you will be are allowed to apply for the placements are in the Consultancy services, Sales, etc.
Basically, we can say that NIT Calicut has nothing to offer to the students of Physics. If you want a decent job, then you should work on your coding skills else, you will have to do the basic 8-7 jobs.
You can also apply for IIT JEE coaching institutes as these companies offer better salaries and less workload. If you wish to pursue higher studies in the future, you can get a side job at one of these coaching institutes and prepare for your entrance exams. This way you will be in touch with your subject and earn part-time.
It depends on you. All three colleges are good in terms of alumni and placements. But, there lies a competition between NIT Calicut and BITS.
Although both have been in existence for a long time now, are excellent colleges, both have a good brand value, one gives you a tag of a NITian and the other gives you a tag of a BITSian, the difference lies in their ranking and placement records.
NIT C is among the top 4 NITs in our country. If we consider the ECE department, it is almost at the same level as NIT Trichy. The average placement for circuit branches is around 12 LPA and the highest placement might go above 30 LPA. Additionally, a higher number of companies recruit from NIT C. BITS Pilani, Goa also provides great placements and good courses. The average CTC offered at BITS Goa is 5 LPA. Apart from infrastructure and attendance policy, other things are similar.
However, PSU visits the NIT Calicut campus during placement drives. A student of the ECE department can sit during the IT placement which is difficult in BITS if you do not take some specific courses.
Both the colleges have certain merits and demerits. The distinguishing factor can be the fee structure. If money is not a concern for you, you can go for BITS Goa but for middle-class students, NIT C would be the best option.
NIT Calicut provides an option for internal sliding. If you are among the top two students from your branch, you can change your branch after the first year. Apart from these, many other factors are taken into consideration.
Many of my friends are studying at NIT Calicut and therefore, I would suggest you not opt for NIT Calicut if you do not get CSE or ECE. The institution gives the least importance to its students. Other than departments of CSE and ECE, the placements are pitiful.
You can check their website and find out the department-wise ratio of faculty members to student ratio if you do not have trust in what I am saying. Check their placement statistics and you will be surprised by seeing the number of core companies visiting the campus during the placement drive. There are numerous other problems as such.
To be precise, the institution's rank has drastically fallen from 9 to 45. I would be of no surprise if it goes down more.
As some of my friends studied in NIT Calicut, I might be able to answer your question. Let me share the facts I got to know from my friends.
The packages of NIT Calicut are not low. The placement statistics of the institute are below.
Categories | NIT Calicut |
Average CTC | INR 11.58 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 49.75 LPA |
Placement Percentage | 73.55% |
Recruiting Companies | Microsoft, Toshiba, L&T, HP, etc. |
NIT Calicut is a prestigious engineering college in Kerala with 23rd rank in NIRF Ranking for Engineering 2020. The college is Central Government funded, and cream students who have cracked JEE Mains cut-off for NITC get admission.
The college has diversity. Students from different cultures and backgrounds unite in the college. Overall, the college gives ample opportunities to the students.
My brother used to be a student of NIT Calicut and his favorite teacher was Prof Prem Raj P from the School of Biotechnology, NIT Calicut. He has an analytical mind and is a master at problem-solving.
He is an exceptional teacher in the department. He is a very hardworking person who takes the responsibility of creating a competitive environment for everyone to thrive. He made teaching very effective by explaining the concepts in a more interactive way and made the classes interesting. He has the skills to be a team leader and is a role model for the students.
He has brought changes in curricular and innovation in life science programs and he is very ethical at work. He also made excellent contributions to the course by sharing his insights and actively participating in discussion.
You should go for PEC Chandigarh Mechanical. The institute offers decent placements and career opportunities. The placement rate for Mechanical is around 90%. Companies visiting PEC Chandigarh placements recruit students in both core and non-core profiles. The salary packages offered are in the range of INR 3.6 LPA - 22 LPA.
Also, Production is a niche branch. The career opportunities available in the production field are limited compared to the Mechanical field.
It depends on your interests and your financial background. There are many reputed institutes in India where you can do your post-graduation. However, some institutes in the USA and Germany have an international reputation because of their technology and facilities. That is the reason why many graduates choose to do their MS from abroad. The availability of great placement opportunities is another reason. However, before deciding on anything, research the market trends in India as well as abroad to get an idea of the placement opportunities available.
