No, at BITS Pilani candidates are not given scholarships based on BITSAT score but at BITS, Dubai the scholarships are offered based on the BITSAT score. It is to be noted that the scholarship based on the BITSAT score can be availed only in the first year of the entire academic session at the Dubai campus. To get the scholarship based on the BITSAT score, students must have scored a minimum of 200 marks in the exam.

The detailed bifurcation of the score vs percentage relaxation on tuition fee is given below.

Scholarships Offered at BITS Pilani:

Government Scholarship: The NTSE and KVPY scholarship by the government are available only for M.Sc. students.

Merit-Based Scholarship: This type of scholarship is purely based on the candidate's performance in the semester exam. Based on the CGPA, students get % relaxation in the tuition fee. The % relaxation may vary year after year.

The detailed bifurcation of the scholarship is given below.

  • 10 CGPA- 90% of Tuition Fee*
  • 7 CGPA- 20% of Tuition Fee*
  • 6 CGPA- 10% of Tuition Fee*

Is IIT Gandhinagar better than BITS-Pilani for Mechanical Engineering?

KB
Koel Basu Posted On : March 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (2020)

Yes, it was confusing once, two years ago and now I can happily confess that I do not regret choosing IIT Gandhinagar over BITS-Pilani. Since I also have friends in both the colleges, I can provide a detailed overview of the good and bad aspects of the colleges.

Also, information on BITS might be limited due to it will depend mostly on other people’s experiences, but the answer will talk about the good and bad side of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar.

Following are the merits of IIT Gandhinagar:

  1. Limited batch- The class consists of 30 students. This makes the interaction simple and competition healthy. The classes are interesting and interactive. And BITS here, has a classroom filled with 100 students.
  2. Friendly professors- All the professors are cooperative. They will always be present to help you.
  3. Constant branch parties/meetings- The Mechanical Branch will always witness regular meetings wherein the latest course will be the topic of discussion and how things can be done to modify it and gather suggestions accordingly. These meetings include Mechanical Engineering students (no freshers) and professors.
  4. New course- In case 10 others from your branch decide to go for an entirely new course which isn't taught in the department- you can always consult the professors and if they can teach that, your will certainly be granted.
  5. Lab facilities- Your lab experiences would be such that you'd work under time-limits. Objectives that will be given to you would have to be completed under a time-limit present along with it.
  6. Inter-disciplinary ideas- Unlike the rest of the colleges, IIT Gandhinagar has neighbours who are from a background of MSE and CSE. While sharing ideas, you get to learn much more than you can imagine.

One thing that students could miss at IIT Gandhinagar is the cultural fests and events. They don't have grand cultural fests of their own. This privilege was taken away by the seniors, which we were trying to rectify. But gratefully, we already have enough, so, that doesn't make us expect too much of these grand fests for ourselves.

A dual degree from BITS Pilani has better future prospects than B.Design at IIT Guwahati. If you want good placement opportunities after the completion of your branch, then BITS Pilani dual degree will be the right choice for you. Most recruiting companies want students from STEM backgrounds for engineering profiles.

BITS Pilani placements 2022 was concluded with an average CTC of INR 28.99 LPA. The highest CTC for this year was INR 1.33 CPA.

Compared to IIT Guwahati, BITS Pilani offers a better campus experience, as well.

Should I study CSE at BITS Pilani or CSE at IIT (BHU)?

AJ
Ankit Joshi Posted On : May 2nd, 2022
BE Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, RV College of Engineering (2020)

You should choose IIT BHU CSE. It is among the top 7 IITs and offers better opportunities to students.

  • IIT BHU CSE fees are INR 5.33 Lakhs. While BITS Pilani charges INR 18.98 Lakhs for the CSE degree. If you join IIT BHU, you don’t need to spend a huge amount on your undergraduate degree. You can save that money for doing master's.
  • IIT tag offers many advantages. If you are going to apply to ivy league schools, having a degree from a reputed IIT will be a plus. IIT BHU professors are well-reputed and having LORs from them will get you into a good college.
  • IIT BHU has a huge alumni base and you will have much better networking opportunities.
  • It offers excellent placement opportunities for CSE students. IIT BHU CSE average package is INR 25 LPA.

These are some of the reasons that make IIT BHU a better choice compared to BITS Pilani.

For CS, BITS Pilani is better than IIT BHU. It offers excellent resources, infrastructure, academics, and placements for the branch. BITS is widely recognized in the CSE domain. The curriculum followed is probably the best among the technological institutes in the country.

The recent highlights of BITS Pilani placements show the median CTC for CSE to be around INR 18 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to INR 40 LPA. All major MNCs visit the campus drive. If you can afford the course fee, you should go for BITS.

What is the cutoff for the Pilani campus for ME admissions in the BITS HD exam?

SG
Shalini Guha Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
M.E Structural Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2019)

BITS Pilani cutoff for year 2020 is different streams to get admission in M.E. or M.Pharm program. BITS HD is one of the competitive exams that require a serious and clear approach towards the exam.

Below is the list shows cutoffs for various streams last year in BITS HD:

Subject

Cut-off in the year 2020

M.E. in sanitation science

120

M.E in Embedded

150

M.E in CS

150

M.E in mechanical

170

M.E in Civil

120

  • The cut-off varies from time to time and it is mostly on the higher side.
  • Compared to BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad, BITS Pilani cut off is relatively on the higher side. But it is not always the same.
  • Cut off purely depends on the branch you are opting for and campus preference. It will sometimes fall due to seat increments of less popularity of a selected stream.
  • Try to secure 150/300 in your preferred branch to secure a seat in your preferred campus in Pilani.
  • If your preferred branch has more than 3 options, you must secure 120 for an assured seat.

Prepare yourself accordingly as you know it is very competitive to get into a prestigious college. Work hard and prepare yourself and go for it. You will definitely be able to sail through and get a chance to study in a popular college.
