IIT B is the best option among these for pursuing an MTech in Industrial Engineering. Your preference order should be IITB>IIT KGP>IIT K>NITIE. IIT B has an innovative course curriculum. You will learn optimizing techniques and algorithms. The course work and curriculum inspire research.

Why are JEE Advanced toppers picking IIT-Bombay over NIRF rank 1 IIT-Madras?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : March 30th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

NIRF rankings are not the sole factor that determines an institute's worth and credibility

Usually, rankings systems evaluate an Institute based on aspects such as international students, international faculty, and research which don’t matter much for a UG student.

Even without the JEE, IIT Bombay has always been a much more preferred IIT than Madras mainly because of its location advantage and thus excellent opportunities.

IIT Bombay is preferred because of herd mentality as most JEE toppers consider only IIT Bombay worthy of their rank. It’s like because that has been the usual trend, they have to follow it. In reality, IIT Madras has its share of toppers though the numbers might be less in comparison to IIT Bombay.

Which is a better option: IIT Guwahati CSE, IIT BHU CSE, IIT Bombay mech or IIT Kharagpur electrical and electronics communication?

A
Admin Posted On : June 20th, 2024
  • College wise - IIT Bombay > IIT Kharagpur > IIT Guwahati > IIT BHU
  • Branch wise - CSE > ECE ~ Mechanical

However, this is simply a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences.

Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you.

Here are some information to make your decision easier:-

  • The placement scenario for ECE in IIT Kharagpur is good and stands next to the CS department in the table.
  • Though ECE is the largest department when compared with others it still maintains its record well in placements.
  • The NIRF Ranking of IIT Bombay is 3rd, IIT Kharagpur is 6th, IIT Guwahati is 7th and IIT BHU is 15th.
  • The Average placement at IIT Bombay Mechanical is 21.82 LPA with IIT Kanpur ECE is 26.27 LPA, IIT Guwahati CSE is 25 LPA and IIT BHU CSE is 22.7 LPA
  • More than 250 companies visited the IIT Kanpur campus in 2024.

Which one is better: chemical engineering at IIT Bombay or computer science and engineering at IIT (BHU) in Varanasi?

A
Admin Posted On : July 12th, 2024

I am a second-year chemical engineering student at IIT Bombay. I think you should opt for Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay received 3rd position in the Engineering category as per NIRF 2023 Ranking. In the Placements 2023, the highest package bagged at IIT Bombay was INR 1.68 CPA. OCl, BPCL, ONGC, Reliance Industries, etc. recruit students from the Chemical Department of our institution.

Here is a comparison table between IIT Bombay Chemical and IIT BHU:

Parameters

IIT Bombay (Overall)

IIT BHU (B.Tech CSE)

#15

Placement 2023

(The branch-wise placement data for IIT Bombay is not available)

IIT Bombay is located in a mega-city, with great industry exposure, and easy access to other cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Moreover, IIT Bombay is a much bigger brand than IIT BHU, and it offers much better placements.

Thus, I would recommend you choose B.Tech Chemical at IIT Bombay in place of B.Tech CSE at IIT BHU.

Between IIT Delhi and Bombay, which one has a better campus life?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : April 10th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

I believe IIT Bombay has a better campus life than IIT Delhi. Here are a few points to prove the same

  • Events: Asia's largest technical event Techfest and cultural event Mood Indigo are organized by IIT Bombay. These are much superior and better than IIT Delhi’s 'Tryst' and 'Rendezvous' in terms of planning, entertainment, and scale.
  • Transport: IIT Bombay has its own elaborate bus service inside the campus that runs 24/7 on CNG. IIT Delhi on the other hand just has 3-4 buses that run not more than 4-5 times during morning and evening. Hardly all the students are able to avail of this service because the buses are always fully occupied.
  • Exotic Powai Lake: The hostels of IIT Bombay especially H12 and H13 offer a picturesque view from the balcony or rooftop and give a calming effect to the students conducive to learning. IIT Delhi on the other hand is located in the most polluted city and the hostels offer a similar unhygienic view.
  • Restrictions: IIT Bombay has no rules regarding girls' and boys' hostels and students are free to visit opposite-gender hostels. IIT Delhi gives no such relaxation and gender mix is possible only during House Day, which is held once a year.
  • Food and refreshments: IIT Bombay has an abundance of food and refreshments offered through kiosks, food stalls, and ice cream parlors. Although IIT Delhi too provides snacks, its food is not comparable to IIT Bombay.
  • Mess food: IIT Bombay serves both non-vegetarian and vegetarian in their real sense whereas IIT Delhi caters to North Indians' taste buds mainly and the quality of food is also lower than IIT Bombay.

Some might find the above differences too minor, for them, it’s better to choose the one that aligns with their own preferences like location, etc.

Which should I prefer, CSE at IIT Guwahati or electrical (5 years) at IIT Bombay?

AB
Advaith Bhaskar Posted On : May 6th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2000–present)

I always find comparing two branches very illogical because the entire purpose of branches is to cater to the interests of different people. One stream might be good for you but not for the other and vice versa.

An electrical engineer works with impressive technologies like microprocessors or communication systems. A computer engineer on the other hand achieves great things through his computer. It’s better to read about machine learning classification.

Some students prefer judging colleges on the basis of the kind of environment they offer. Both IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati have a great academic environment and offer excellent exposure. Both the colleges are good in all aspects like placements, location, and academics. Don’t follow the trends and standards set by society and follow what your heart says!

Which is better for pursuing a B.Des - the IIT in Bombay or NIFT?

RC
Ritwik Chowdhury Posted On : July 27th, 2022
PGDIM Supply Chain Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

For Fashion Design or Apparel Design, NIFT is the best institute in the country. If you aspire to become a designer or stylist, then choose NIFT. It offers many design specializations such as Fashion, Accessories, Textile, Leather, Knitwear, etc.

For Visual Communication and Product Design, IIT Bombay will be better. IITB basically offers Graphic Design, but it has more importance due to the IIT tag.
