What are the differences between an older IIM like Indore and Kozhikode and a newer IIM like Ranchi, Rohtak, or Trichy?

PS

The first-generation IIMs clearly have many advantages over the second and third-generation IIMs. Some major differences include

  • Infrastructure: Thenodler IIMs have their own permanent campuses whereas most of the newer IIMs either function through a temporary campus or have a permanent campus that is not at par with the older IIMs.
  • Faculty: The older IIMs have better experienced and learned faculty than the newer ones. Also, the visiting faculty is much better at these IIMs. The student and faculty strengths are therefore strong here.
  • Placements: The older IIMs have long-standing ties with corporate firms and top companies excelling in the placements scenario and leaving behind the new IIMs.
  • Corporate Exposure: The exposure at older IIMs is better than that of newer IIMs due to their early establishment.

How much percentile I need to get into IIMs like Nagpur, Rohtak, Shillong, Kashipur if I am a General, male and Non engineer?

AB

IIMs consider several factors for admission which are academic performance, work experience, and performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT) to get a call. The cut-off percentile for admission in each IIM varies from year to year and it depends on factors like the number of applicants, the difficulty of the exam, and the availability of seats.

In general, non-engineer male candidates need to score above the 95 percentiles in the CAT exam to have a good chance of being shortlisted for the IIMs you have mentioned (Nagpur, Rohtak, Shillong, and Kashipur). It might change and you will need a lower percentile if you have some work experience, meeting the cut-off percentile does not guarantee admission, as the IIMs also consider other factors such as academic background, work experience, and performance in the personal interview and written ability test.

So, it's important to perform well in all the above factors mentioned in the admission process to increase your chances of getting into your desired IIM.

Himani Rawat Posted On : July 8th, 2022
IIM Rohtak

As per the trends of IIM Rohtak placements, the expected average salary for the IPM course is around INR 9 LPA. The placement rate for IPM is around 80%. Compared to the fee structure of IPM, the return on investment isn’t good. But this program allows you to spend 5 years in IIM Rohtak. You will get great exposure and pick up new skills.

What is the difference between IIM Rohtak and IHM?

AB

I don’t know what your intention is with this question but assuming the confusion with the word management in both names. IIM Rohtak and IHM are two different institutions serving/catering to different industries and different academic focuses.

IIM Rohtak stands for Indian Institute of Management situated in Rohtak which is a B-school offering post-graduate management programs such as MBA, executive MBA, and Ph.D. IIM Rohtak trains future corporate leaders in business and management. Admission is tough and based on merit and national entrance tests.

On the other hand, IHM stands for Institute of Hotel Management offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in hotel management and hospitality, IHM teaches food production, housekeeping, front office operations, and food and beverage service.

Ultimately it is like comparing apples with oranges. Hope I answered your query.

What is the benefit of taking law in IIM Rohtak?

HR
Himani Rawat Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
IIM Rohtak

Being one of the prestigious colleges in India, IIM Rohtak provides a comprehensive understanding of the legal aspects which affect various industries. It gives you an added advantage since you’re learning law and business together.

IPL (Integrated Program for Legal) has just started and to get admission you must have a valid CLAT scorecard. Considering that IIM Rohtak is primarily a Business school, it’s reasonable that you get confused about whether you should choose it over other law colleges but you also need to understand that being an IIM the college would not compromise on its teaching so you’ll be getting the best of faculty and infrastructure here. Although it would not be advisable to choose IIM Rohtak over other top-tier law schools in India.

Based on your academic performance, you have the potential to be admitted to the top 30 colleges for MBA programs. It is recommended to focus on preparing for and achieving the best percentile possible in exams such as CAT and other relevant exams. It is unclear who has provided you with the options previously mentioned, but it is important to consider other options that may be more suitable for you.

Some of the options that you have a chance to receive an invitation from and potentially convert into an acceptance include the following:

  • Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta (IIM-C)
  • New Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)
  • Institute of Management Technology (IMT)
  • Management Development Institute (MDI)
  • T.A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI)

  • Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA)
  • Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB)
  • Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA)

I am aware of the placement scenario at IIM Udaipur only as my sister recently graduated from it.

The faculty base of this domain specifically is very experienced and includes world class professors like Director Prof. Janat Shah.

Apart from faculty, the club SKEIN conducts national level summits (SCM Summit) by inviting industry experts to enlighten the students.

What is life like at IIM Rohtak as compared to other campuses like IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore? Is the salary package good enough too?

BG

IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore are older and more established than IIM Rohtak. However, it's tough curriculum and competent teachers make it a respected Indian university. Students here learn leadership, communication, and teamwork through extracurriculars.

Salary packages depend on sector, job profile, personal skills, and work experience. IIM Rohtak graduates earn Rs. 18.73 lakhs annually. This number depends on student performance and recruiting policies. High-achieving students with strong communication and analytical abilities can expect greater salaries. IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore, on the other hand, have the strongest alumni networks, industry contacts, and reputations in India.

Graduates from these institutions typically receive higher salary packages than those from IIM Rohtak. The average salary package for IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore is around 40-42 lakhs per annum, with the highest package going up to Rs. 80 lakhs per annum. The high salary packages are a result of the strong industry connections and alumni network of these institutions, which provide students with excellent job opportunities and career growth.

Which IIM is better if I want to pursue MBA in marketing, IIM RAIPUR or IIM ROHTAK?

SG
Sahil Gupta Posted On : January 21st, 2023
PGP - MBA from Indian Institute of Management Raipur (Graduated 2022)

Both the IIMs, IIM Rohtak and IIM Raipur give an edge to each other in the sense that they have similar faculty, teaching methodology, rankings, placements, and brand value.

However, IIM Rohtak has a locational advantage being situated in the NCR region. This attracts more corporates and companies for placements. It also has a bigger batch size than IIM Rohtak and a strong alumni base.

Ultimately it’s you who decides the B School that is most suitable for you. Both these IIMs are almost similar but I have to say IIM Rohtak gives a slight edge to IIM Raipur.

How do I get admission in IIM Rohtak?

AD
Anuja Dutta Posted On : June 15th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak

You need to specify the course you want to enroll in. IIM Rohtak offers MBA, IPM, and ILP and takes admission through CAT, IPMAT, and CLAT respectively.

  • The first step in the admission process is to fill out the application form.
  • CAT application gets live in August and you could fill out the form till October.
  • After filling out the form there comes probably the best and most awaited and feared day; examination day.
  • To get into IIM Rohtak for any of their MBA programs you need to have a valid CAT scorecard.
  • CAT usually takes place in November and the scorecard gets live in January.
  • After you get your score you can start applying for the colleges you think are suitable for your profile.

Many IIMs also require separate application forms and IIM Rohtak is one of them. You have to go to the official website of the college and fill in the application to get an Interview call. IIM Rohtak gives a substantial amount of weight to your CAT score so if you’ve scored well you’d probably get admission.
