My friend had an interview at IIM Rohtak. She was a commerce student with 95% in Class 10th and 93.8% in Class 12. It was an online interview conducted by two male panelists.
The interview started with her speaking about herself, her background, school achievements, extracurriculars, and hobbies. She told them her hobby was reading and they asked her about her recent reads. They asked her the following questions
Apart from the last question she was able to answer all and thankfully was able to convert the call.
The truth is IPM interviews are of Class 12 pass outs so are just limited to their knowledge. They mainly test your academic questions and basic knowledge of current issues. All you need to do is be confident and succeed!
The first-generation IIMs clearly have many advantages over the second and third-generation IIMs. Some major differences include
Except for IIM Rohtak, the new upcoming IIMs like Trichy and Ranchi face tough competition with SP Jain. They are almost in the same league based on certain parameters and are bound to overtake SP Jain in the future. Let’s discuss some of these parameters
All in all, there are high chances of the new IIMs taking over SP Jain anytime in the near future.
The answer to this question is subjective as it depends solely on your career inclinations, your purpose of pursuing FPM, and what you plan to do after it. It is best suitable
For the above two cases, the FPM course is the best option. Despite being a new course, it is taught by the best faculty and through excellent pedagogy. This course equals a Ph.D. and can open doors to teaching at IIMs. The job is decent with high pay. All you need to do is invest your time and effort in the course.
The only drawback of this course is that there are no placement opportunities for FPM students.
I think it is a good tactical decision for IIM Rohtak to improve its worth and image among the second-generation IIMs.
Despite being younger than IIM Shillong it is considered among the second-generation IIMs because it has been a part of CAP. If you look at the current situation, IIM Shillong functions from a temporary campus and yet has its own WAT-PI process. On the other hand, IIM Rohtak has its own permanent campus but lacks its own WAT-PI process. Now its withdrawal from CAP will enable it to stand out from the second-generation IIMs.
From the student's perspective, this strategy has increased their chances of getting selected as now if they fail to perform well in CAP, they can rely on Rohtak's own WAT-PI process and vice-versa.
Both the certification courses PMP and SSGB fall under the Operations domain yet are very different in reality.
PMP: This course facilitates handling and delivering projects efficiently and quickly. If you are interested in Project Management, the best option is the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification which is affiliated with Project Management Institute, PMI, USA. It
also provides PDUs.
SSBM: This course facilitates proper optimization of business processes, minimizing waste and time wastage. If you are interested in the Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB), then Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkata is the best option available. Some even think ISI Pune is good yet I will recommend you to go for Kolkata itself.
The IPM program of IIM Rohtak is not at par with the PGP program and therefore I will suggest that you should go for it only if you have no better options. The reasons why I am against this program so much are
Considering all the above points, I will recommend you to take up an Undergraduate course from any college and then go for an MBA from a top B School. By doing IPM you merely will be wasting 5 years and over 30 Lakhs.
Comparing IIM Indore’s program to IIM Rohtak, there is a simple conclusion- IIM Indore is better than IIM Rohtak in almost every aspect.
Similarly, IIM Indore's IPM course is better in every case scenario. This is because of
These are some parameters on which IIM Indore has an upper hand over IIM Rohtak. Also IIM Rohtak overall has lost its rankings over the past few years due to various controversies. So it’s best you don’t risk your career and go for IIM Indore instead.
At IIM Rohtak, it’s the students that are the driving forces of the campus. They are the ones who initiate clubs and committees. Some famous clubs and committees of IIM Rohtak are
Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council: This council aims at creating a community that is self-reliant and instills an attitude of being a job creator instead of a job seeker. It holds talks, organizes meets, and launched its own website to do so.
Marketing club: This club is for the ones who are interested in the Marketing domain as it helps its members to gain experience in marketing-related roles. For this, it holds events like solving riddles to create marketing campaigns and creating sales pitches to solve case studies.

It is the student-driven culture at IIM Rohtak that renders an ambiance favorable for clubs and committees.
IIM Rohtak is a very newly established IIM that has yet to make its place in the IIM family. Because of its recent establishment people deem it not worthy of the IIM tag. But in reality, it’s gradually picking up pace and by the time its first batch will graduate (2024), it will have climbed the ladder higher.
People think the IPM program offered by IIM Rohtak is a backdoor for people who want to escape the CAT exam. In reality, most of the students plan to give CAT or GMAT or both at the end of their third year.
Even if one compares Rohtak and Indore, we can clearly see that Rohtak is way ahead of Indore. The first batch placements of Rohtak are better than Indore.
Some consider the lack of connectivity and cost also a reason why Rohtak is not worth it. But let me shed some light on this matter. Rohtak is just 70 km away from Delhi. The International airport is just an hour or two 's drive from the campus. So the connectivity issue is resolved here. As far as the cost is considered, one should not underestimate the 5 years he will be spending at an IIM campus with top-notch facilities and the most learned faculty and brilliant peers. All the investment is worth it. The final decision is yours to make but does remember that IIM Rohtak will have climbed the ladder in just a few years.
